Death scares people because there's only one time and it's something literally no one has come back from.
The "other side" is a concept only in definition. Why be scared of something that'll happen to you regardless? Whether it's perpetual suffering, happiness, or just the long dark emptiness. I'm alive now, so it doesn't concern me what'll happen when I eventually die from liver malfunction cause of all the years of heavy drinking or I sub come to old age and time out for good.
All paths lead to the same conclusion, it's what you do now that counts.
This is going to sound weird, but I think that 'Handsome Jack' in Tales and 'certain character on a certain cable show' got it right, or rat… moreher their writers respectively. There is just nothing after death, nothing at all. I imagine it being similar to being anesthetized, anyone who went through that before knows that you just fall asleep and wake up hours later with no memory at all. Dying is probably the same, with the difference that you don't wake up.
I don't know how to feel about it, of course a magical place with unicorns shitting rainbows and clouds made out of cotton candy would be preferable, but I'll leave it to other people to lie to themselves like that. All I'm pretty much certain about is that god and the afterlife as we understand it are inventions of people whose lives sucked and who wanted to look forward to something at long last. No offense to any religious people, just my view of it all.
My mother was...depressed. Some asshole in my house (IDK who) took my mother's medicine. I prayed to God that she would find it or get new medicine. The next day, I got home from school, and my mother has new medicine.
God answered my prayer that day.
I know it's hard to believe it, but he does exist.
I prayed to God that she would find it or get new medicine.
What kind of medicine was it? something that is very difficult to obtain for a serious illness or disease? Or a prescription that can easily be replaced?
I know it's hard to believe it, but he does exist.
It's very hard to believe, which is why I don't believe it. Science has even disproved god. And how do you know he really exists? Based on what evidence? surely not this "miracle" alone. I'm sorry, but I just don't buy it.
Lemme tell you guys a story.

I'd rather not say. It's personal.

That's fine. I'm not gonna stop you from having your own religious beliefs.

Odd for you to say that, I'm not saying you had to be specific about it, but I just wanted to figure out if it was really so out of the ordinary that her medicine was replaced; if it was easy to replace, then it wouldn't really be significant. But that's fine, If you don't wanna share, you don't have to share.

Not really. While I was raised Catholic with the belief God was real, I could never devout myself fully to the religion or the ridiculous "advice" from priests.
It has provided significant evidence, yes. Do some research, and you'll come to find there are irrefutable points made by scientists that disproved the existence of a god. I didn't say science already has disproved God explicitly, but rather it will eventually lead us to the truth about the existence of god.
Not at all. I remember when I did once, but it's mostly because I grew up at a catholic school. After that and moving to a (non religious) high school I slowly stopped believing in god.
I prayed to God that she would find it or get new medicine.

The only true answer is that we don't know. He may or may not exist and we have no way to prove it or disprove it , personaly I belive that he don't exist and religions are just a means to control the masses but I might be wrong...

Some people believe others dont, religion obviously is a inflammatory subject and people tend to be disrepectful of other peoples right to believe what they want, there is no real evidence for or against and simply saying "science has proven god doesnt exist" to somebody who clearly needs and likes their faith isnt a discussion.
"Good discussion"? You think this is good discussion? This thread is very obviously prone to arguments and already has had them, I really don't find that good discussion.
I choose not to believe. A god (or any deity or divine being or supernatural entity or whatever) only exists because we give it reason to exist. It's just people's faiths and minds at work, reconciling the seemingly unexplainable (to them) with their own superstitions. I merely happen to disagree with those notions.
Really, it's no different than scoffing at the idea of skinchangers or werewolves, maybe except in how many people you manage to piss off. -.-
I'm an atheist, but I'm also a person that is aware that I can be wrong and I made my peace with that long ago. If presented with valid evidence I can change my view's on certain subjects

Well, there is no scientific evidence he exists. Also there nothing pointing towards that something like him exists.
Science has no dogmas. If you can prove something or prove something wrong, you are free to do so. If your evidence is good enough, people will change their mind.
The Judeo-Christian God, has no evidence like that. Just like Bhaal, Zeus and etc.
Thus, we can safely assume, that he does not exist. He could exist, becuse we can never be 100% sure, that is the beauty of science.

It's called science and logic.
I'd rather not say. It's personal.
That's fine. I'm not gonna stop you from having your own religious beliefs.

God is the most successful fairy tale ever told.
Not really. While I was raised Catholic with the belief God was real, I could never devout myself fully to the religion or the ridiculous "advice" from priests.
So science and logic has explicitly proved that God does not exist?

To you it is.

I was never that religious anyways.
And has also proven his existence, science changes a lot, as of now it's hard to be sure.
Did God also take her medicine in the first place?
No it hasn't. Nothing can disprove a negative. Disprove fairies, please and thank you.
No.
This thread is bomb waiting to explode.
Are you mental?
And your proof is... where?
not really, as great as science is, there'll never be a real way to prove that there isn't a higher presence.

And the fuse just...got...lit.
I would describe it as poor taste
Not completely, but it does give us a pretty reasonable idea on whether or not we should believe something.
The only true answer is that we don't know. He may or may not exist and we have no way to prove it or disprove it , personaly I belive that he don't exist and religions are just a means to control the masses but I might be wrong...
What do you mean by that? I assume you are saying it is in poor taste for somebody to make a thread such as this?
So you're an agnostic atheist?
the thread
So it is in poor taste to make a thread that makes for good discussion? Something there is a certain lack of around here?

"Good discussion"? You think this is good discussion? This thread is very obviously prone to arguments and already has had them, I really don't find that good discussion.
Yeah, good point. If we do have a god, he is an asshole.
Nope, I prefer Little Red Riding Hood. Much more believable.
no
what did he do
