For Christians: What's your favorite Bible verse?
As I stated earlier, my religious deal got started after going to Alcoholics Anonymous. Even they are inclusive to all faiths, and therefore don't prescribe any particular brand of faith, it got me interested in reading the Bible.
As I read it, I found that a lot of the principles taught in Alcoholics Anonymous are based on Judeo-Christian principles.
After a while, I met a woman who was a church goer. We started dating, and later she got me to attend Church with her. After having some disagreements with the Reverend, I stopped attending.
I personally don't care for Church, given my disagreements with the Reverend, and also that I don't like going to Church - period.
However, I still read the Good Book from time to time, and so I decided to ask this questions. So what is your favorite Biblical quote?
Mine would have to be: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16. (New King James Bible).
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” - John 13:34,35. NKJV.
"He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins." - 1st John 4:8-10. NKJV
"In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable. Put into practice what you learned and received from me, both from my words and from my actions. And the God who gives us peace will be with you." - Philipians 4:8,9.

Matthew 10:34-37
"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me."
I could care less for the bible but this is definitely a good verse.
So you care about the Bible.
No, I don't. A book full of lies and fairy tales does not interest me, I merely stated that I think the verse itself is good.
Edit: I realize the mistake I made in my comment, oops.
Psalm 18:2
The Lord is my rock, and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
Although I'm not religious, I think it's great to see a thread like this.
AA is a cult they prey on people with low self esteem. That is all.

Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

Hello.
What is a translation?
I can't find a verbatim verse in the Bible.
I honestly don't know. I've only come across it somewhere. Sorry.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” -Corinthians 13:4.
However much I despise organised religion, there are some beautiful things to be had.
Okay. Thanks!
Thank you. I'm honestly glad to see that someone appreciates this.
And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely Revelation 21:6

(Yes, yes, I know this isn't actually a verse from the bible. I just wanted an excuse to display Sam Jackson in all his glory)
For christians? What if i'm a buddhist? Or a jew? THIS THREAD'S TITLE TRIGGERS ME!
And are you?
Am I what? Sorry, I'm currently in a state I-Don't-Get-It.
Greater love have no man than this: To lay down one's life for one's friends. (John 15:13) It's a great verse that always makes me remember that there has been so many people that have sacrificed so much for us.
For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of GOD, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is Jesus Christ (Romans 3:23-24) It makes me remember that I too am a sinner and am no better than anyone else. It's probably one of the biggest reasons I sometimes disagree with my church. To me, it just seems hypocritical to judge people since it's not our place to judge. God is love, how do we show love if we're too busy hating one another?
Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this may seem impossible, but with GOD all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26) So, I've struggled a lot through my life. Addiction, depression, etc. And over time, I've realized that I can't fight it alone. And where I fail, God is there to help.
I could probably go on all day, but these are just a few of my favorites.
The one who sees gold, lel
Revelation 21:6. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Oh. Lol.
Sometimes I am, other times I get sad and mad at everything. But I try.
Good luck and keep trying!
Haha, thanks? ^///^

Romans 14:1 - Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. (I feel like many forget this)
James 5:16 - Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
John 3:16-17 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
my mother's favorite passage T^T then james died too
And yet because of the principles taught in it, many have been able to beat their addictions, and change their lives for the better.
Corinthians 13:4-7 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Exodus 21:20-21 – "If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property."
Genesis 3:16 - "To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.""
Leviticus 20:13 – "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."
