Is Telltale as good as before?
I've been thinking about this for a while now, and I'd like to know your guys' opinions on it. Do you believe Telltale is still as good as they were before?

Tales FTB is a amazing example of what they can do.
As of now, Tales from the Borderlands is the last thing Telltale has made that I thought was completely fantastic and got me excited for every release. Hopefully Batman will live up to the hype with the voice cast they have and Im sure Walking Dead Season 3 will probably get me back in my extreme hype for Telltale.
Hasn't this already existed as multiple threads?
Also, to answer your question, I think TellTale is better than before. I feel with each game they release, they're getting better and better.
Yes.
Yes.
I think so, they've expanded greatly on different aspects - narrative and choice mostly, although they have lacked off of puzzles. To be honest, I still really enjoy some of their older games - Back To The Future about as much as I enjoy their current games.
I don't think so. It seems to me like they are just buying up whatever popular property they can and applying their old formula to it, and getting lazier with every new game.
We shall see how Batman and Walking Dead Season 3 will go. But I greatly enjoy the games that they have released such as Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones.
Yes and no.
I know most like to point to Tales as what they can do. Though, at the same time it shows a lot of what they lack/what they seem to can't do. It's interesting and I can't say for sure until I play TWD S3 and the new Batman game on how well they are doing. I would say that GoT S2 would be the crowning moment showing how they can connect several plot lines and having decisions matter more than to just the player. Though, it seems like they are more intent on telling their story with very little interaction...especially with the environment.
In general I still very much enjoy what TTG has to offer. I just think if they keep regressing in some areas you will find more and more studies putting out games that will outshine them. They can have big names in TWD/Batman and still see interest go somewhere else as the style of playing or storytelling isn't compelling enough for the player.
Better everytime they realease a new game.
I'll always miss their older games which were actual point and click adventure games.
They definitely aren't getting worse, TFTB was pretty recent and that game was phenomenal.
After seeing the video game trailers/teasers for the new upcoming games I think they have really improved graphics wise.
Everyone knows what I'm going to say.
I love you, Sam & Max.
Yes
Honestly, I'm a bit mixed about the direction Telltale takes. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy their games, just not as I used to.
So, I'm gonna go ahead and say yes and no.
I didn't see much laziness with Tales from the Borderlands.
I sure did. To be fair I haven't played Minecraft so I can't comment on that one, but since TWD s1 every other game has had multiple episodes I would rate below average. Tales included. Infact the third episode of tales was so unenjoyable to me that I realized I should not take telltalte's games seriously, and just pick whichever option amuses me the most. I did this with GoT as well, which had maybe one good episode, and that was supposed to be a serious game.
Well, that's your opinion, man. Tales never had a bad episode to me I found the choice system to be much improved from TWAU, TWD S2, and GoT.
Why are you still here if you clearly don't like them anymore. If its because of nostalgia that's an awful reason.
The illusion of choice doesnt work on me anymore I dont think the games are worse ive just wised up and as a result I cant enjoy them that much anymore, also there is zero gameplay
Yes, it is my opinion. This thread is full of people's opinions.
Eveywhere I go people want me to leave.
Just because I don't like what they're doing doesn't mean I have lost all hope in their future. There is still an upcoming Marvel game and the 'super show' that we don't know a lot about. Kind of fucked up that I should have to explain my being here.
I think that back when Sam and Max was their main source of revenue, they used to be quite different, although if they were better or not is highly subjective.

Telltale is one of my favorite gaming studios and I believe they are on the right track to becoming one of the all time greatest companies. As long as the next two games do great!
