Second, if you don't know we're talking about you're either a Mac newbie or you just don't care about the technology you're using. Anyway, here's some interesting reading for you: VMWare Fusion, Apple's Boot Camp.
If you do not have Windows (or do not want Windows), it runs very nicely in Crossover Games (http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxgames/). You can get a 7 day demo version -- that should be long enough to finish episode 1.

Now if only I could get Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition to play on my Mac (or my PC!)...

Use VMware Fusion to run a windows virtual machine which supports 3d games or use bootcamp to dual boot.
