  • Something disturbingly similar, soon we'll probably see a crack down on opposition and even more repressions against Kurds

  • The Turks sure do love a good genocide.

  • One per century just ain't enough!

  • It's only genocide when the outside world disagrees with it. Then it's just ethnic conflict.

  • True.

  • Would you mind explaining a bit about what Rojava is?

Well the coup failed. I am of a mixed mind. On one hand, I'm pissed that Gollum is still in power. On the other hand, the military acted

I'll do my best to explain. Take it all with a grain of salt.

Rojava is Western Kurdistan and is a independent region in Northern Syria, mostly populated by ethnic Kurds. During the Civil War (late 2013 I think), the Kurds took over the four cantons and began running their own affairs, fighting off the Regime, FSA, ISIS and Turkey in the process. You might've heard of the Battle of Kobane, in which the Kurdish YPG/J came back from the brink of collapse and broke the ISIS siege of a city near the Turkish border. It was a huge symbolic victory and many see it as a turning point in the war against ISIS.

The cantons are trying to practice a form of Libertarian Socialism that's called Communalism; which stresses direct democracy, gender equality and environment sustainability. Many Socialists and Anarchists, such as myself, greatly respect this and view Rojava as probably the best example thus far of how Socialism could be implemented in a modern context.

The Turkish government isn't happy about Rojava's existence, due to decades of ethnic tension between Turks and Kurds. The fact that the PKK ( the Turks' communist boogeyman) is involved, certainly isn't helping matters. The hatred is so great that Erdogan's government allegedly supported ISIS, because they'd rather have those psychos on their border than an independent Kurdish state.

    The pogron phase has begun.

Apparently, pro-Erdogan mobs are trying to enter minority neighborhoods. Antifascist volunteers are manning the barricades, but police are firing live ammunition against them in support of the rioters.

    Disgusting.

  • A Turk here, and I think it's fair to say that that was a good movie.

Interesting, so there is another wikipedia clone. I already knew of Metapedia.

Love that almost sarcastic article though. Metapedia is more serious, but can be best described as European Nationalist version of wikipedia, ie their counter of European Leftism in the form of their own wikipedia. Tragically metapedia is very heavily packed with misinformation. Good place to get into the heads of "opposing" view points on history though.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

  • It's a Neo-Nazi hellhole.

Not exactly, only when it comes to controversial subject matter. That's why it isn't a good place for the naive to visit.
