What do you think makes a Telltale game good?

^ Thread says it all.

I thought I would make this thread so that next time Telltale makes a game, we'd know if we hate it or not. We could also do the same with modern Telltale games.

This is what I think makes a Telltale game good:

  1. Awesome story
  2. Awesome characters
  3. Very hard choices
  4. Choices that affect the story
  5. Nothing rushed
  6. No annoying fanbase
  7. Good voice acting

  • Besides your list. Those lovely plot twists. God damn I love em. It seems very crucial to evey TT story and it always leaves me impressed.

  • The intriguing story. It can hook you in, and make you immersed and invested in the characters.
The sense of satisfaction of a change based on your choices ("yeah, that's right, I did that!")
Good writing, interesting choices, and some nice voice acting.
And the moment where the episode ends, where there may be a cliffhanger when you were so close to a revelation... makes you want to find out what happens next.
I love a good thrill like that.

  • Atmosphere, they always nail that.

    • Art direction
    • Grade A voice acting (I've played pratically every series they've made and couldn't find a single VA cast i hated).
    • Strong plot-twists
    • impressive choreography and camera angles (despite limitations of their engine)
    • impact of every choice (no matter how small)
    • Smart realistic written characters
    • Innovative story telling
    • They know the source material VERY well (no matter what game they're doing)
    • Great cliffhangers for every episode
