Sounds like they're trying to say the cabin group was bland. It's fair to say if you consider the underwhelming characters of Alvin, Rebecca, Carlos, and Luke. I wouldn't sweat it too much though, tvtropes feels like a Wikipedia entry at times.
Because it's suggesting the protagonists didnt have decently fleshed out and complex personalities but Carver did, which is why a lot of players wanted to side with him
How does this specific portion--
Even if the protagonists did had some different personality (which was kind of rare when you think about it)....

I could swear this came up once before, but I'll just put it out there as an actual question: Do you think Francine(or rather Conrad) and Ava were supposed to be related at one point?

Yeah, I know. The Conrad-Ava connection was something I came up with during the wait for Above the Law, which Thicker than Water's Clementine flashback seemed to vaguely support, oddly enough.
Of course, other people's assumptions that Eleanor and Joan were related turned out to have been the case originally and Ava has different backstory.
Don't get me wrong it's a pretty cool theory, just unrealistic with all things considered. And it's entirely likely that they at least knew each other considering that Ava knew there were good people in Prescott and Francine was the community scout.
Remind me, what was Ava's original backstory supposed to be?

Idk know about her original backstory, but I do know her initial role was as a prison guard for The Specialist, who would only Spanish and Javier would have to do the same in order to get information from him.
Her actual backstory given in the AMA reveals that she's actually a part of a family with a traditional place in the military, hence why Ava joined up despite possibly being the Runt of her family alongside her sister. When the outbreak happened and her sister was seriously wounded/bitten, Ava had to put her down.

@Melton23 Just googled it and it came up with this bullsack feet having mother fudger
Pretty much the reference. Of a reference.
Wobbuffet may be based on the late Japanese comedian 林家三平 Sanpei Hayashiya, who was famous for repeatedly touching his hand to his forehead while saying one of his trademark lines, そうなんす、奥さん sō nansu, okusan, "That's the way it is, ma'am." In addition, its form and available moves may be based on a punching bag; that is, when it is hit, it bounces back.

I like the pet store idea. Could tie in with her being so upset at seeing a puppy being eaten.
How do you think their parents died? Before the outbreak or after? Could the mom have been the person seen getting eaten next to them in Vince's story?

Why was Shel serving as Becca's guardian instead of their parents?
Cause they dead, fool.

It’s sort of like Multiplayer. You and your friends or other people online can play the game together and make decisions. Whichever choice has the most votes will play out in the episode.

If it wasn't supposed to be the saviors, then there is a lot of inspiration taken from them. The way they named their group, The branding part could've been taken from the moment where leather jacket man brands people's faces as a punishment, but they flipped it as being a part of their initiation. And instead of having the communities live under their boot and give them a share of their resources, they completely destroy them and take what's left.

Actually, that was only the case with Prescott. Badger was explicitly acting against protocol there and had his crew presumably wipe out the entire town.
That-Paul-Guy's line when he recognizes the stolen goods gets cut off in the game proper, but all of the other locations he names were also comic locations that are still standing from what I've been told.

They(TNF) were supposed to be called The Marauders and I assume the ones from the comics - the group of bandits that confronted Rick, Abraham and Carl during a supply run. That makes me think that in A New Frontier/Season 3 they were going to be revealed to be a bigger group. That would have been interesting.

I had speculation that they would try to do this in TFS, but since they had a smaller version of that happen previously, it might ruin it's appearance. When I was making that Joan at Mccarroll ranch story, It made me think that Joan may still have contact to a community of people like this, but was keeping it secret, giving them a share of their supplies they took from other communities to gain their trust and loyalty. So if things went south with Richmond she could call on them to help retake richmond by force. She could've fled the scene in the 4th episode to find them and contact them, knowing she had lost control of the community. If it's Clint who lives, he could know nothing about it, but when the other community notices there no longer getting a share of resources and lose contact with Joan, they come to investigate. It's seems plausible since Joan was already been lying about their raids for resources, what else could she have been hiding?

Oh I see, people have already started thinking about this. I can definitely see why, Joan seems like the type of person to keep these aces up her sleeve.
Actually, that was only the case with Prescott. Badger was explicitly acting against protocol there and had his crew presumably wipe out the entire town.
I meant it in a vague sense. Everything else was added in so that it wouldn't be the same exact thing. Also, was it badger who lead the raids on the other communities without Joan's instruction?
Edit: Wait a minute. You're saying that they left intact the other communities they raided? That's interesting. Then why haven't we heard anything from the communities that they forcefully took items from? If they stole from the Kingdom and left it intact I would think they would've lead an attack with the Saviors to get it back.
That-Paul-Guy's line when he recognizes the stolen goods gets cut off in the game proper, but all of the other locations he names were also comic locations that are still standing from what I've been told.
Yep, it's all in the same universe and is possible. I'm still questioning when the Kingdom had its items stolen. I don't remember them bringing it up in comic. Taken through a trade off agreement, but not stolen, at least not yet.

That seemed to be what they were going for initially or at least people theorized that was the case.
After all, the New Frontier weren't always in control of Richmond, the map David gave Javier showed that they were expanding with numerous outposts and bases a good distance away, and the flashback, made a seemingly important note that Joan wasn't among them during Clementine's time with them.

Yeah, but I said that because in the comics you see only four(or five, I don't remember exactly) of them and it probably made people wonder if there were more Marauders out there.
It would have been cool to see more TNF bases, though.

@Louche :So does nobody know how you can tell Kenny to go fuck himself but get the additional line where he says he'll wait with the boat for Lee and Clem? I've gotten it only once and I've played season 1 like 10 times now.
obviously you need to be mostly negative to Kenny but somewhere along the lines something positive you do for him will trigger the additional bit.
man, season 1's mechanics are much more complex than you first realize.
@enzeruanimefan :Does anyone remember the original titles for the New Frontier episodes? I wanna know in case I make an AU fanfic.
(Were originally two separate questions but I combined them for convenience. you're welcome.)
Anyone know what Ties That Bind was going to be called before it was a 2-parter?
As you know, one of the reasons From the Gallows was a letdown was due to the fact that it mostly lacked the multi-sided Civil War that was being built up, instead having an extremely watered down version in the Save Richmond endings. Ignoring Joan's character derailment for a minute, how exactly would this event have happened if the story stayed consistent?
Who would you say is the greatest(or rather, most diverged) foil to Clementine?
Do/did you think Kate was a chick assuming spousal and parental responsibility barely out of college or a woman in her prime who just looks(and/or actively invokes seeming) younger? Which do you think/feel would've been interesting?
Do you think Nick was always gonna be determinant in the original drafts of Season 2, given that Kenny had a very different role initially?
@Cocoa2736 To all you fellow pet owners out there: if a zombie infestation were to ever break out how would you go about handling your animals? Would you keep them close to you no matter what cost or would you decide to let them go to live freely in the outside world?
Weird question, I know, but can we generally agree that Ava's characterization, utilization, development, and screentime compared to Tripp's is a example of the saying "Less is More"?
Weird question but do you think Gabe and Mariana..."ship" Javier and Kate? Do you think the latter would've permitted/tolerated it if she was still alive when David came back into the picture?
Here's a question I've been mulling over for a while: given her close resemblance to her as well as Huh-Chick, her non-skinburnt Capricorn mark, and the seemingly significant moment where Javier exchanges a close glance with her, do you think it's possible that "Shades-Chick" is actually a holdover from an older concept where David got Grace a job as one of Clint/Joan's personal guards?
So here's a neat experiment: Let's make a list of the the writers responsible for the bulk of any particular character! Feel free to compare notes and add any insight if necessary/possible. Who is the writer(s), what episodes did they write, and what character(s) did they primarily establish?
Ex. Jane= Piere Shorette(Ep 2.3 and 2.5) and especially Eric Stirpe (Ep.2.4)

Why does Kate wear an ankle brace, as it was mentioned to be here? Was she wearing it in the flashbacks?
And while the subject is on my mind, did you think Arvo's leg brace was surgically attached to his leg?
Nah, they were already thinking about having Joan and Eleanor be related. Another miraculous family reunion would make things completely absurd.

Uh, mods? Did one of ya'll move this post?
Had they stuck to the story in Mr. Vanaman's initial outlines, how do you think Carlos's interactions with Kenny would've gone?

Aww, thank you for answering this one!
Pretty sure I actually answered that one months ago babe. Hence why I asked if one of the mods bumped/reposted it.
That too!
I assume after, but for all we know, it could've been a Lilo and Stitch situation to begin with.
Perhaps, though then you'd probably have to answer why their mom was a ginger gangbanger from Grove Street.
May I ask what exactly is crowd play?
It’s sort of like Multiplayer. You and your friends or other people online can play the game together and make decisions. Whichever choice has the most votes will play out in the episode.
Ah, that actually sounds pretty neat.
Um, any particular reason they look like this here?
Reading someone's brief speculation and reasoning an older thread, do you think it's possible that "The Saviors" were supposed to be in ANF?
Nope not at all. Negan is in a jail cell during the events of ANF and the Saviors are pretty much holed up in their sanctuary doing a lot of nothing.

Is it just me or are there a bunch of random zombies in the avatar section that don't even exist in the actual game? Never noticed them before.
