Random rant

edited July 2009 in General Chat
You know the excitement, when you wait important mail and check your e-mail constantly to see if it's already there. And then you see that there's one new message, but it's disapointment when you notice that the mail is titled: "Buy cheap erection pills"

Why on God's green Earth I would even want to do that. I don't need erection pills and if I had problems with my erection I would go to my doctor, who would give proper physical examination to see what is wrong, before prescribing any drugs. Besides my country has criminalized buying drugs from unlicensed pharmacists. So if I would order their erection pills, both me and seller would get charge for illegal drug trade (and probably for smuggling too because people who sent the offer are most likely foreigners, because the offer was in English and not in my native language). Also because they are unlicensed there's huge chance that the pills wouldn't even be real erection pills but those could be something harmful instead.

So why would I want to get myself drug felony and risk my health for something I don't even need. I wish those people would just leave me alone and stop spamming, because frankly despite all the filters it's quite annoying.

I know that I can't do anything to spam and they will keep sending it because there's always some morons who might actually buy their products, but reason for this rant was actually my disapointment that the message I was expecting didn't come yet. Sigh.

I know, it's just that I'm having my hopes up because the mail I'm waiting for is about the position to which I applied. So as you can see I have considerable economic interests at stake and in situations like this even something minor can really annoy me.

Maybe it's just me but my gmail account pretty much catches every piece of spam sent to me. I never get "erectile pills."

I use my university's e-mail and I use the filters which they have provided. Sometimes something gets through despite those filters.

Ah, say no more, say no more.

The Gmail filter is apparently so powerful that some of my important emails get filtered off, and I got mad phone calls a few days later of me not responding to the important matter. So I'd rathered have those viagra pills ads spam sometime.

Anyway, talk about spamming, there is a new adventure game that just came out, called Mata Hari.

"Mata Hari marks the long-awaited return of designers Hal Barwood and Noah Falstein (of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis fame), casting players in the titular role of the exotic dancer-turned-spy."

    Anyone gonna catch this one?

My university e-mail is a load of rubbish, and open to abuse - for example it is very easy to e-mail everyone, and someone had the bright idea of signing up to a load of crap sites with that general address. Needless to say everyone got a hell of a lot of spam. It's calmed down a bit now but still everyone is getting a load of online casino spam now and again.

Thank god they're changing it all next month.

I've played it. I didn't like it very much. Nothing in common with Indy Atlantis except the names (it seems to be marketing purposes only...)

Exotic dancer...? What kind of content is in the game? I loved Fate, very interested.

No idea what the game is about, other than it's a point and click. Nice music on their website too!

Here's a bio of Mata Hari. Maybe this will give some indications...

It says she wasn't a very successful spy after all. I do hope the game developers have a different view of things to make it more interesting.

Maybe another thread should be started about Mata Hari, since exotic spy dancers are only vaguely connected to erection pills and spam. ;)
