Well, Episode 1 was very, very enjoyable. Here is what I thought of it:
Story - This story of Batman is a really good one. It pulls you in with all the diverse mysteries and subplots going on at the same time, that you will want to stick around to see how they get resolved. Bruce Wayne is being tested with the many alliances he can make, secrets from his family's past, and how people think of him. This gives a nice depth to how you play Bruce and give choices a huge meaning. The Batman side is quite fun to play, you see him use various gadgets and do cool combat moves, (btw I love his deep, "Batman" voice). And it gives a whole other side of protecting Batman's reputation as well. For now, the "true" villain is unclear, and we don't know where the story will lead, but dark times are coming for the Waynes... Graphics - You can really see that many visual things have been improved with Telltale's upgraded engine (more on that later), things look cleaner and there are more things going on at once. They give a different feel to each location, and each character is well played by their VA. It's hard not to think of TFTB whenever they talk, but I try to forget and get in the 'Batman' zone. Sound, Music - Now usually, I don't praise the music that much (because I don't really pay attention to it,) but here, I decided to listen up. Jared Emerson-Johnson, you nail the Batman theme really well! I like the ominous music and deep, Batman themes. It was great.
....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... The Updated Engine
Telltale told us they would be updating their engine to better fit the new consoles and boost performance. But, things did not work out so well. I played this game, (as well as all their other games post-TWD) on consoles. [PS3 and PS4. I have this on PS4.] While there are new visual effects, and a somewhat cleaner performance (there isn't a loading screen every 15 minutes, only between every scene), other things have taken a hit. Framerate drops significantly whenever there is a long shot (a wide view) of an area with many people in the background. (I am not sure what the frames-per-second were, but it was visibly slower.) Character animations are still choppy, but there are much less than in other games. (There were only 5 incidents, to my recollection.) This mostly happens whenever there is a sudden camera change from one end of the room, to another. And then there was just one sound glitch. Chaining the takedowns of Falcone's goons, there were no sound effects. I can forgive the animation bugs, as I am not annoyed by them, I've gotten used to it over the past 4 years. But, Telltale should find a way to fix the framerate, as the newer consoles should be able to run this easily. (The Waking Dead's S1 Ep5 - Zombie horde Marsh House fight comes to mind where there are numerous characters on screen at once and smooth gameplay. It may not be the consoles fault, but just the game itself having a hard time processing all the effects at once in Batman.)
.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
But, If you can forgive some of the mistakes in performance the episode, you get a good opening to what will be a great series for The Bat. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, as it showed off all the new tricks Telltale is pulling with this new series, and I hope to see more of it. I love the combat, (except that some scenes, like Falcone's party goons on the balcony were too fast, but the game solves it for you anyway.) It feels like a true Batman style. The characters are interesting, and I want to see what relationships you can build with them later on, and was a nice, lengthy episode (took me just over 2 hours). Probably because it had to set up so many sub plots. We'll see how our choices change things later on, but this was a solid 9/10. Good job. Side-note: I like how Telltale is giving you more customisation freedom like with B-man's tech colour. It helps give meaning to "THIS is my playthrough, and it is unique."
Sorry about the length.
This is the first series where I didn't encounter a "Mash x button a lot" in the first episode.. I kind of miss it.
You need to use the "finishing move", no backing out. Didn't Telltale say in an interview at comic-con that you could fill the bar and save it up for a later time?
Sorry if it doesn't fit here, I just don't know where to ask for help.
When I click "play Episode 1", the loading screen appears aaaand... nothing happens. It just loads for, like, fucking eternity. What do I do?
I like the control scheme here. They added a lot more interactivity and combo's without focusing too much on slow mo and one single button press every 5 secs, its always a constant battle with hardly any breaks in between, which works for Batman. I can see Telltale going back to mashing and slower fights in series that make more sense for it like The walking dead, but here in Batman it works like a dream. They just need to make the next episodes have more fail states.
And here are two small things that bug me:

Ok, right. There wouldn't really be a point in Batman where you'd need to use that "mash" command. So I guess it works out. And by the way I'm not complaining that the fights are hard, I like it.

If you're getting the black screen bug you could try the fix in the support centre "After I click to continue, the game loads to a black scr… moreeen".
If that doesn't work i would recommend contacting support for help.

I'm not a seasoned Telltale player - the longest I've waited was a couple of months for the last two TWAU episodes... but I'm already feeling it with this one
What I want to see is twofold - 1.) A September release and 2.) A much more stable game (for myself at least).
Scratch that you can die. Although hitting the QTE's allows you to fill up a meter to use a finishing move. As well I think failing some QTE… more's in the first bit causes a slight alteration in the story if the extra choices are to be believed, I'll have to see.
Go into your profile and click on the "Choices" tab which is next to "My Games", so long as you've connected your Telltale account it should tell you some extra choices.
Personally, I'm trying to wait the release of 3 episodes before playing.
The wait is killing me but I know for sure that I'll play too fa… morest and the wait between 2 episodes will kill me more.
In an ideal world, I'd even wait for the all 5 episodes, but I know that I can't !
So, for now, I'm killing the time by trying GTA V, Rise Of the Tomb Raider, Batman Arkham Knight and Far Cry Primal (didn't play any of those yet).
I have always wondered what it is like to play all episodes at once. I might consider doing that with The Walking Dead.
If I have the sheer patience to wait, which I doubt I possess
Ah yes.... The waiting

I did that with the first season of The Walking Dead and with TWAU.
I think that, because of that, I don't really have the same opinion of these games that everyone else does. I still think they are great but I was not emotionally involved with the characters like I was in other Telltale games after that. Yes, I don't care that much for Lee. There, I said it.
Discussing with people in the forums and waiting for each episode, making up a bunch of theories and such, made me invested on the later games to the point that I cared for some very minor characters in Tales, TWD Season 2, Michonne, Game of Thrones and Minecraft Story Mode.
I hated waiting for the episodes when I started playing Telltale Games. Now I feel that the wait is absolutely needed for my enjoyment of the games. The only problem I see is that it raises my expectations, which sometimes leads to disappointment (like the last two episodes of Game of Thrones and the last episode of TWD Season 2).

You're whining about monthly releases? Pfff good thing you weren't here for Tales from the borderlands or Wolf, and if you were I think you would be more patient now after that release schedule
stop telling me what to feel you think i care.. im not going to die over an unofficial release date, i cannn wait you know. Why do you take my judgement so seriously and feel the need to respond all the time? never mind don't answer that...this is a thread on release dates i can talk about it. I'm excited okayyyyy???

If he's going to appear, I think we are bound to see Arkham Asylum in some capacity, with some of the patients. I would think one of them would be another villain, preferably one that isn't as explored as say, the Joker.

Hmm, Telltale's been real silent with this.. Have they no progress on Episode 2 to speak of? We usually get like one tweet from them a week after or even before an episode. It's been really rare to see "No News Yet..." on for so long.

Check earlier info from around E3 in the Episode 1 Waiting Thread; Job says they want to have all five episodes out by the end of the year, except for Ep 5 possibly coming out in January because of the Holidays.

Just beat the first episode. I am excited for the 2nd. I'm strongly considering whether or not I should build a PC. I bought a gaming laptop but after getting just 25-30fps on this game, I feel like I should buy a powerful rig to experience the game in its full glory.

You mean textures and anti aliasing? Because those do pretty much nothing, and any resolution except the default won't even work for me in fullscreen. The optimization is shit. At least they're working on it.

Oh thank God. I saw a youtuber on livesteam hit Restart chapter to make the alternate choices and was worried for a sec.

Apparently, none of this works. Looks like I have to contact the support team.
This Batman glitch actually gave me an excuse to start playing TFTB and I'm pretty amused so far.

Episode 1 was pretty good. Anyone else think so?
I did that with Tales... it's pretty awesome to say the least.
I honestly think it's boring to do so. It kills the hype between episodes.
Pfft, no.
I thought it was fantastic.
Agreed
shakes hand
the longest I was waitind was about four months for the last episode of game of thrones. but it was worth waiting
I did that with the first season of The Walking Dead and with TWAU.

no shit we'll have to wait, hopefully it'll be out September...6th-29th or somethin like that, they always do that once a month ish

Interesting. Not that I doubt your information, but can I see where they hinted this?
The title card for Episode 4 strongly hints that Bruce Wayne is taking a visit there at some point.
Be happy you weren't one of us when Wolf Among Us Episode 2 was still coming soon.
Hmm, Telltale's been real silent with this.. Have they no progress on Episode 2 to speak of? We usually get like one tweet from them a week after or even before an episode. It's been really rare to see "No News Yet..." on for so long.
Long live jack....
I think they want to fix the technical issues first before teasing the next episode.
Check earlier info from around E3 in the Episode 1 Waiting Thread; Job says they want to have all five episodes out by the end of the year, except for Ep 5 possibly coming out in January because of the Holidays.
Well, whatever they are doing, I don't mind a longer waiting period, as long as I can keep remembering the story before I play another episode.
omg you can't wait another month? insert reference to a long wait in the past
We're just joking guys, we're not gonna die over monthly releases. Don't take our jokes seriously.
Awesome, thank you.
Just beat the first episode. I am excited for the 2nd. I'm strongly considering whether or not I should build a PC. I bought a gaming laptop but after getting just 25-30fps on this game, I feel like I should buy a powerful rig to experience the game in its full glory.
I would wait till episode 2 comes out before deciding to do that to see if they patch the game to run better on lower end computer's/laptops.
lower the video settings if you want better framerate

For those in the 0.4%, how do you let Catwoman get away with the loot? And what is this "loot"; Is it the Data Drive?
