That's a nice little interview. The large inset image resulted in a rather awkward page alignment on my 1024x768 monitor...

Did anyone else notice that she announced a new Monkey Island on her blog even before LucasArts / Telltale did? :)

How could we have missed such a thing?!

Thanks for the feedback! And thanks as well LuigiHann for the heads up about the image, I always try my best to make the site work for ANY monitor. The image simply wasn't supposed to have been that big, and should now be fixed! If you could check and take another screenshot that would be ace :P

Great interview! Anybody else think she looks a bit like Elaine?

Haha, that's incredible how she posted it a good 4 months before the official press release and not one person even noticed it.

    That is hilarious.

I believe my mind is officially blown.

I had Google News informing me of all instances of the phrase "Monkey Island" on blogs for nearly a year (in other news, there are a lot of real-world places named "Monkey Island") and they never caught that :(

Somebody keep an eye on her blog now! See if she leaks anything about MI2 Lechuck's Revenge SE :p

Alas, with regards to anything about the future of Elaine Marley, her lips are tightly sealed :P And yes the picture on the interview should now be a much more screen friendly size :)

By the way I don't usually care too much about my blog stats, but I am amazed this single interview has had an immense amount of hits, even more so than my initial Tales review!

:) its really funny how nobody saw her blog not even lucas art employees

    Here is what she said:
    Thursday 19 february 2009

So it’s all still very hush hush and all that, but I can reveal there is to be another Monkey Island game coming out this year and I will be the voice of Elaine Marley again... avoiding the advances of LeChuck and chasing after Guybrush Threepwood ...as she does!!

A couple of weeks ago I got an email from a producer at LucasArts in San Fransisco asking if I was the same Alexandra Boyd who did the voice of Elaine Marley in Curse of Monkey Island...yeeeeears ago!!??

Well as a matter of fact I am......Thank God for Google is all I can say!!

Ya don’t even have to be in the same country for this stuff anymore. I showed up at a studio in Soho last night (they are 8 hours behind in SF) and the director - who confessed to playing the early Monkey Island games when he was 14!! I feel so old sometimes!! - spoke to me in my earphones and we went from there!!

Doing cartoon voices is one of my favourite kinds of acting jobs. You don’t need makeup or costumes, you don’t have to learn lines - you don’t even have to highlight them on your script they even do THAT for you, it’s so Hollywood dahling - it takes about an hour and a half to record and then 6 months later (or up to 2 years for a feature), you get to see some little character walking around on screen with YOUR voice coming out of her mouth!!! Brilliant way to make a living!!

Don’t you think it’s weird that Elaine has long red hair.... art imitating life or what?

That's kind of sad. What's really funny is that interviewer asking her a bunch of Monkey Island centric questions when shes not even a huge fan of the series, and that she didn't seem to know how to answer. :D

I can understand it I think MI for her is a way to pay a few bills... and thats OK as long as she keeps doing the great job she has been... But its so much more fun when you can tell the actor really really loves the game and takes time to really interact with fans like Dominic... Someone should make him wear a NERF suit because if something happened to him it just wouldn't be the same.

A Dominic Armato interview is to follow... I agree she may not be a huge player of the games but I certainly think she adds a lot to the character of Elaine. I also tried to ask other questions apart from just Monkey Island related ones. She is certainly a well travelled, multi-talented lady.

It was a good interview and very professional. I was like so sure you where gonna ask her lots of monkey island related stuff, but then you changed the tone of the interview because you found out she is not a fan of the games, just of the character portrayal. It was a good call for you to do that.

Her voice as Elaine Marley, is great i fell in love with elaine's character due in grand part for her acting. When EFMI came i was turned off with the new character and it didnt clicked well for me. She portrays a different persona, and seemed to had some pressure off of Alexandra. Anyway Alex was great also in Tales.

I hope Tales of Monkey Island brings back the original voice for Lechuck in the future, i miss him. Seeing as he was in the Special edition gives me hope he will return.

Hi Everlast! Thanks for the compliments, means a lot! I decided that, since she isn't a gamer, it was best to focus on the aspects she was passionate about with regards to doing voicework over the years for Elaine, and then move on to other areas. Of course when Dom gets in gear and sends back his answers the majority will be more Monkey Island centric :P

Also, I sadly do not think Earl Bohen will return as LeChuck in Tales. This is most likely because he is retired as far as I know, and Tales would be an ongoing commitment, whereas Secret Of Monkey Island is a one shot deal (and of course Lucasarts have a fat wallet I imagine!)
