Look like LeChuck on your XBOX 360

It appears that Microsoft has released a bunch of Monkey Island themed clothes and accessories for the XBOX 360 avatars. Whether you want to look like LeChuch, Stan or others, there is surely something out there for you.

I don't have an XBOX 360, but the list is as follows:

Male
o LeChuck Pirate Suit - 240 MS Points ($3)
o Treasure Hunt-ery Shirt - 80 MS Points ($1)
("I found the Treasure of Melee Island ...and all I got was this Stupid T-Shirt")

Female
o Swordmaster Earrings - 40 MS Points ($0.50)
o Swordmaster Suit - 240 MS Points ($3)

Unisex
o Chicken with Pulley - 160 MS Points ($2)
o Eyeball Necklace Carryable - 160 MS Points ($2)
o Herman Toothrot Hat - 80 MS Points ($1)
o LeChuck Pirate Hat - 80 MS Points ($1)
o Meat Hook Pirate Eye Patch - 40 MS Points ($0.50)
o Monkey Island: SE Cotton Swab - 160 MS Points ($2)
o Pirate Telescope Carryable - 160 MS Points ($2)
o Seltzer Bottle Carryable - 160 MS Points ($2)
o Stan the Salesman Hat - 80 MS Points ($1)

So, if you have nothing else to spend money on, go get your chicken with a pulley. Go on, you know you want to!

No El Pollo Diablo? Target group fail!

I don't use MS points on anything other than games or game related add ons. So as nice as this is, I won't be wasting my points on them.

Some pretty cool stuff, but I'd prefer to see more unlockable rewards, rather than stuff you have to purchase. At the moment, the avatars aren't even really used in many games, so buying all this stuff for them is more than a little pointless..

At least the prices are reasonable and the items are actually things that would be pretty cool to use, unlike the majority of the stuff Sony have been selling for Home, which are both bland and expensive. Though I find it odd that they chose to do LeChuck and Carla as opposed to Guybrush and Elaine.

I am tempted to get the Eyeball Necklace :P

I'd be very tempted to buy Stan's coat, so I guess I'm glad that's not there.

Edit: Looks like the "Avatar Marketplace" isn't up yet, but I guess the Monkey Island stuff will be among the first releases. Here's a preview. There does appear to be a full Guybrush suit.

I am so buying the LeChuck one eventually.

Unless my maths is a bit off, doesn't the whole set add up to $21? I mean, not that everybody is going to get every item, but it's a bit extortionate for virtual clothes which do approximately naff all.

Not a big fan of this trend at all. Surely things like this should be a reward for buying/completing the game if anything?

What a strange world we live in where people are spending good money to clothe their virtual alter-egos while there are people in third-world countries who can not afford to buy real clothes for themselves and their families.

That's why you should help out who you can after you buy your perfectly justifiable virtual clothing.

Absolutely agree. These items are totally worthless and serve only to make people feel they need to collect them. They would be interesting as rewards for completing certain objectives within related games though.

Its a marketing ploy that has been around for ages.... How many boxes of cereal did you make your parents buy just so you could get a mail ordered Tony the Tiger submarine that "ACTUALLY DOVE UNDER WATER!!!" when you squeezed the 2 liter soda bottle you put it in.

Pretty much. But sometimes things like that end up being worth a couple of bucks if you like them - I really like the LeChuck Ghost redo. It'd be cool to see that when I turn on my Xbox. I'm not going to buy all the other junk though.

Wow, how on earth did you remember that. I remember actually going through all that to get it and then got bored after about 2 minutes.

My avatar is totally going to be wearing Stan's hat.

I was wondering where Major Nelson had got the cotton swab from on his avatar.

Is this only available in the US? I've looked on the marketplace and can't find any option to buy the avatar clothing, is this another example of where Microsoft look after Americans more than the rest of the world?

Who get's the monkey from the sales? Lucas arts or Microsoft?

Both, Microsoft gets a cut of anything sold on Xbox Live.

    I didn't even know there was a monkey.... >_<

Well, it seems like a waste of cash. Luckily I never bothered getting an XBox.

It's not available anywhere. Comes out in August

Hmm instead of unlocking cool items like this via the game they nickel and dime you to death. Sweet!

it does seem kinda strange that it's LeChuck and not Guybrush. But I suppose LeChuck would probably be more interesting to look at

There is a Guybrush outfit as well. The list in the first post is oddly incomplete compared to the previews that have been linked to throughout the thread

    here's another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQKtfApVqXY

The props might be the best part, it seems like they have unique (or at least quite varied) animations for each prop, look how they interact with the cotton swab or the telescope...

But I mean, it seems like I can load up the marketplace and "try on" these items for free, so that's probably enough to keep me happy. No sense actually buying anything there.
