I want Largo LaGrande!

Hello everybody,

I know this has been discussed all over the forum, but I do believe that we should focus on discussions regarding this character in this special thread. So, without further ado, what do you think Largo should do IF he appears in Tales?

...besides revenge, of course...

Largo was one of the best characters that was new for Monkey Island 2, and it's a shame he wasn't used in the later games at all. Especially since he's supposed to be such a close "friend" of LeChuck. I'd love to see him return.

As for what he should do, I think he should stick to what he knows best - terrorizing other pirates, and being LeChuck's henchman. Other than that, I'm leaving it to Telltale.

Sticking wriggling beards down his pants was pretty cool (or gross).

Another sicko? De Singe isn't enough for you? : )
Anyways, I think Largo would be great to appear again. They even have a nice voice for him (as he appeared in April Fool's joke some time ago).

As long as he's second banana, I'm ok with it. He just doesn't have the potential to be main villain.

mabey he could have another embargo on a diffrent island

Largo sucks big time. He's my least favourite character in the series. They should NEVER bring him back.

    :( :( :(

Oh, sorry there Largo. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings. :D

Yeah I would love to see Largo, I'd like to know how he survived the fortress explosion and did he return to Scabb Island or did he end up on a deserted Island somewhere???
  • edited July 2009
Hopefully a very very deserted one. :p
  • edited July 2009
Well, Wally survived, so why couldn't Largo? :)

I think Telltale should bring in Largo or he will jump them at the bridge and take all their money away

I actually expected him to show up in Launch of the Screaming Narwhal, especially since he kinda "disappeared" at the end of Monkey Island 2. He could have flushed ashore Flotsam Island for all we know.

Same goes for Pegnose Pete, I guess... If he took that "take a long walk off a short pier" order seriously.
  • edited July 2009
I didn't like Pegnose as a character... he's very antipathic.
  • edited July 2009
Well, Largo would be redundant at the Flotsam since because of the winds there is no need for embargo
  • edited July 2009
Not to mention his name is pretty much not even a slight reference to a certain cartoon cat, but what seems like a complete rip-off. It's hard to take him seriously then. : S

Dominic was the one who voiced Guybrush and Largo in that fake trailer.

I would like to see Pegnose, Murray, Largo and De Singe form a crew together. They formed the crew to rule the Tri-Island area since LeChuck has stopped his evil ways.

The twist is that Murray wants to create his own crew to be EVIL

I'd only like to see Largo if he had a relevant role worthy of bringing him back. And I say that as a fan of Largo LaGrande.

oh come on, he was so adorable and friendly in monkey island 2, why wouldnt you want him back :D

    See: MI4 and Murray.

It'd suck if they wasted the potential for a dramatic return of Largo.

Not every character can have a important role or it will be odd.
Notice how every Floatsam island character has a role. Seems a bit coincidental.

And Murray was still funny. Was to me. Then again I started with MI4

someone else suggested in another thread Marquis de Singe hunting down Guybrush's old enemies to help him, and that the physician finds him in a right drunken state somewhere so effortlessly enlists his help
  • edited July 2009
Hmmm... If I was De Singe, I would use the pirate hunter to find Guybrush's enemies! Something like: You can have ze pirate, all I want is ze hand!!

Sounds logical, and diabolical as well!

I agree with PariahKing, as long as it's relevant to the story I'm ok with it. If he doesn't fit within the context of the story, leave him be, otherwise it would be as odd and forced as bringing back Rottingham just for the heck of it. I mean why would he return?

For now I'm happy with Telltale crafting their own Monkey Island characters. DeSinge seems to have been quite a favourite among fans, so I think thats pretty cool. :) Depending on how TMI ends, if it leaves a window open for a possible "Ron Gilbert's Monkey Island 3" happening, I think it'd be neat if they brought back Largo for that.

    Oh yes, bring baack Rottingham!

Right. So I'm saying leave him out.

Murray was still funny but he was a let down for fans of 3.

I'd only want Largo to return if his comeback scene is as epic as the one in the Aprils Fools prank, and of course he'd have to be voiced by Dom now, that voice suited Largo quite well!

My main problem with Murray in MI4 was how he looked. I think I would be fine with him having a minor role as long as he looked more demonic.

I think o speak for everyone when i say BRING BACK OZZIE MANDRILL :p:p

Yes... oh it's such a shame that he was smashed to a pulp *rolls eyes*

...and then LeChuck kind of exploded.

But Ozzie's a tough nut to crack, y'know?
  • edited July 2009
What the hell would Ozzie do?? He's powerless and LeChuck hates his guts!
  • edited July 2009
Bring Largo back! Where's the petition? :)
  • edited July 2009
My problem with Murray in MI4 was that he was so over the top. You could tell there was another team of writers behind the game. They just overused the words "TERROR" and "EVIL" and made him cheesy and annoying. I hope for TMI he'll be more of his MI3-self and have bitter arguments with Guybrush. ("Rolling through the gates of hell" being an instant classic :) Bringing back old characters should be based on a good idea, and hopefully it doesn't involve repeating the same joke over and over just because it was funny once. (Like that stupid "WHERE HAS THE RUM GONE" joke from PotC)
