I can so imagine connecting a 5m wire from the keyboard to the LCD-TV. Another 2m long power cord from the nearest power point to the keyboard. A wire coming or adapter coming from the USB port for the mouse. And probably another wire joining an ext HDD to the keyboard.

If they can make affordable quality wireless products to resolve all these, then the idea of having a ultra compact HTPC within a keyboard may work. As it is, I'd still rather the HTPC to be near the LCD-TV, with the tangling wire mess hidden safely out of view; using a separate wireless keyboard/mouse.
