Tales of monkey island on wii is unbearable
I love the monkey island series like many of us do but i cant even pretend to be satisfied with the product i've bought on wiiware today. for 10 dollars i dont expect the mona lisa but i sure as hell expect a game that functions without the insane amount of frame rate issues. so im just wondering... is this going to be fixed via update or is telltale going to lose customers?

The framerates are only really bad on the introduction on the ship, they get a lot better after that.
It's the biggest console system out there
I'm sorry to say that the technical issues of this game are hampering my ability to enjoy it at all. The same thing was actually true of Sam & Max Season 1 on Wii, which I actually stopped playing after 2 episodes due to technical problems. I'm not sure what's going on with Telltale and the Wii, but I guess as the old saying goes, "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice..." Ugh.
That having been said, the framerate isn't as high as I was anticipating, especially compared to my laptop. (I don't quite meet minimum specs, but downloaded the demo anyway. The framerate at 640x480 with all fancy graphic details turned off was a bit chuggy so I went with the WiiWare version. But the WiiWare version has a very similar frame rate.) I'm not sure if this is a porting issue (if the PC version was done first, and the WiiWare is a port), or something else. But looking at Call of Duty, Mario Galaxy, etc., I would figure the Wii can push TMI's graphics at a smoother frame-rate than that.
The audio is indeed severely compressed. Not to the point of unplayable. But it's definitely noticeable. Not at all TellTales's fault. This is a simple WiiWare file-size limit problem.
Loading times I noticed, but they weren't killing me.
For twice the price. Wish Nintendo sold packs.
When this comes to XBLA it won't only be in a conveniently priced pack it will also come with Achievements and some bonus content like themes or Display pics.
I barley touch my wii because I don't feel I achieved anything and It doesn't seem very.. personal
Liar! It's only ~1.43 times the price of the season set!
Yeah, I just posted something similar in another thread, I totally agree.
However, those two points didn't put a damper on my day. What really put a damper on my day is the fact that this game crashed. I've been at this loading screen for ten minutes now. Talk about awkward. o_o
Yeah, the controls are really nice on the Wii.
Alrighty, I'm going to try again, this time by adjusting a few settings on my Wii.
I'm afraid that if Nintendo doesn't raise the filesize limit for WiiWare games, each episode will have the same choppiness, compression problems, and blurry textures.
Gonna wait for new wii before that could happen though.
Agreed 100%. After looking forward to this for so long, I ended up turning off the game after about 20 minutes - the flaws are just too much to make it enjoyable.
But when what could be the wii's best selling wiiware game of the decade is barely playable in parts, specifically compared to the pc, we have a bit of a problem :-(
when i heard this was a wiiware title i could imagine thousands of 'newbies' joining the ranks of both mi fans and ttg fans.
Please nintendo sort this out and support your developers!!
We're all a little sad about it, I think.
I think they should've waited and released a disc version of the whole season, maybe it'd at least be a little better then.
I just realized you already wrote what I wanted to
I really don't think that will happen, the PC version is and has always been their priority.
I hope that continues to be the case.
At least those who got the Wii version can comfort themselves with the fact that you only bought one ep, not the whole season. And the complete season on PC will still cost you less than the remaining 4 Wii chapters. Think about it.
And the mentioned things (framerate, sound horribly static) seem okay.
Can't say anything about the subtitles though as the person recorded it used a camcorder or something.
