Favourite moments from the season so far? (Episode 4 spoilers)
I've looked through the past discussion pages since the episode was released and I haven't found a single positive thread about the game. With the recent push to make the forum a less hostile place, I thought it would be a good idea to make a place where we can discuss what we've liked in the game so far. This can be scenes, certain dialogue, choice consequences, even game mechanics, whatever you see fit.
For example, some of my favourite things about the game:
The recollection scene at the beginning of episode 2.
The scene of Thomas' & Martha's death, although perhaps a staple of any Batman movie/game etc., was portrayed in a beautiful way cinematically and aesthetically. I really liked how the scene moved from present time to the past and back again. Also, the scene made me like Alfred and Martha a lot. They are both absolute sweethearts. The art style & OST
I was a little disappointed that the game didn't incorporate the inky effects from the announcement trailer, but nine times out of ten the game still looks great. That being said I am a fan of the TV show Archer, and the game basically looks like a three-dimensional version of that. The OST is also incredible; I'm really enjoying the blend of orchestral and synth sounds. Jared Emerson-Johnson has done it again.
I've got much more to say, so I'll make an updated post later. Please remember that this is meant as a positive thread and not a place for critical or passive-aggressive comments.

My favourite is that last scene with Oz/The Penguin. The revelation of Oswald's mother was awesome and I just love Oz as a character.
"The reveloution's already started! It's too late to join."
One of my favorite scenes is Penguin hijacking the debate. I really had no idea where that scene was going. I liked hearing what Mayor Hill and especially Harvey Dent had to say under the serum. Not to mention that intense choice at the end, or discovering that Hill called the hit.
The twist that the Wayne family is corrupt is also something that I'm enjoying so far. I was not expecting that revelation!
This isn't anything that's actually happened yet, but the episode three preview looked phenomenal. Travis Willingham's voice acting there? Don't even get me started on how much I love it. Voice acting aside, there are also just so many things for me to love about that scene.
Weirdly, I enjoyed the fundraiser/party scene in episode 1. I thought it was the most challenging in terms of dialogue choices because of the politics involved, and I loved it.
Talking to Selina as Bruce in episode 1, and having a snarky back to back conversation with her as Harvey watches not knowing a thing, soooo good.
Penguin Interrupting the debate "First things first...FIRING THE MODERATOR!".
Can I cheat and say the preview clip they showed of episode 3 on their talkshow because HOLY FUCK that gave me chills!
My favorite parts....
The art style, I just simply love.
The story is captivating and I love how some of the bat tropes are given a little spin.
The fact that Oz has a REAL reason to be a villain.
Batman's good deeds built on the backs of his family's crimes.
When TellTalegames said that you would be playing Bruce as well as the Bat...I rolled my eyes. But they have not only written a good story but also made Bruce Wayne an important and fun part of that story.
Really love the scene with Selina at the cafe.
I think the fundraiser scene would have been better if it was a hub area. I understand the arguments that the scene is more to do with introducing Harvey's character, Vicki and the Zellerbachs than anything else but the first episode felt a little fast-paced, and something I've noticed is that hub areas really help the pacing of TTG episodes.
I agree with what you mean about the political aspect of it. What I like about the conversation with the Zellerbachs is that if you don't mention Harvey's campaign, Harvey points it out. Which got me thinking (going back to the hub area idea) what if you avoided the crowd and only interacted with Alfred, Harvey and the environment, and the characters gave you unique dialogue for it? Then Harvey could bring you around to Vicki, the Zellerbachs etc. This way you could also interact with these characters either with Harvey present or not, which would be cool.
That is very true! It would have been even better to be able to walk around on your own-- to explore the mansion (which seems silly since it's Bruce's house, but we haven't seen it! ) and choose who you wanted to chat up. And perhaps with Harvey observing and commenting on your finesse afterwards. Cool idea
The bar fight scene with Selina.
Best scene imo.
The action sequence at the end of Episode 2 was my favorite.
I hope this doesn’t count as necro-bumping, but I finally have enough time to document my thoughts about the game, episode 3 specifically.
“Lee Lee Lee Lee Lee Lee Lee Lee Lee Lee, Lee Lee fucken’ Leeeeeeeeeee…"
My reaction to Lucius Fox’s introduction. It was great to see that they did get Dave Fennoy to voice Lucius again, as a bunch of people were discussing on the forum.
The, uh, “decimating the bro-code” scene (I’m borrowing that joke from another, bless the lovely person on this forum who thought of it)
I was initially pretty shocked by how obvious the whole ordeal was, with the unzipping and everything, but looking back it was actually pretty tasteful. I knew some kissing was going to happen at one stage or another but that was something else. How on earth is TTG getting away with an (Australian) M rating?
I was also impressed by the smoothness in the kissing animations. I would love to see more of that improved dialogue option to cinematic fluidity in the future.
“I don’t answer to you. Back off.”
Bitching out Montoya felt so cathartic. She really pissed me off in that even if you pick the “good” Batman choices through the first episode, she’s all like “thanks for taking Falcone down, we really appreciate it, jks SCREW YOU YOU’RE UNDER ARREST EVEN THOUGH YOU’RE MORE COMPETENT THAN ANY MEMBER OF THIS POLICE FORCE”.
Speaking of catharsis, well, I warn the Oz-lovers of this forum to look away. Hell yeah I punched him in the face. Thanks TTG for giving us the option. And hell yeah, I punched him a second time and would have gladly done so for the third time at the resignation speech if I could.
Alfred is such a sweetheart. He’s so kind, and supportive, and scary with a shotgun. Needless to say, he’s one of my favourite favourite characters, which is impressive against Harvey, Selina and Bruce.
“Oh, funny. Thinking you have a choice. Thinking you can save the people around you.”
So meta. Or leaning against the fourth-wall, idk. They should replace the “This game adapts to the choices you make. The story is tailored to how you play” with Harvey’s quote instead.
Oz was a lot of fun at the debate in episode two and he’s a cool character and all, but I can’t say I love him as much as the average forum member. Though my disdain for him is largely based on the way he treated Vicki at the debate, and with the whole evil Vicki thing going on… I don’t really know how to feel about him now. All I know is that I definitely underestimated him and the other Children of Arkham.
I feel so bad for Harvey, poor guy. I saved Selina for the possibility of a romance but my priorities were skewed. Harvey needs Bruce's support. He's the most moral character in the game, considering everything he said while under the effect of the serum and if you help him out at the beginning of episode three. I would have responded to this sooner but I try to stay “blind” before playing the episodes, but anyway I agree with you about the episode three preview. Travis Willingham (and of course the dialogue writers) are doing amazingly well at showing Harvey’s two sides.
I too am glad that the game also focuses largely on Bruce’s personal life. Previously I’ve been turned off by the modern superhero genre because the character’s normal life is often displayed as unimportant. Before I was only interested in The Incredibles (because the superheroism is arguably a subplot of the film, rather than the main purpose) but the game has proved a valuable transition into the genre and I’m more open-minded now.
The cafe scene episode 1 is amazing, the bar fight episode 2 and of course the emotional intimacy episode 3 between Bruce and Selina.
What a game.
The cafe scene with Bruce, Selina, and Harvey in Episode 1. The verbal fencing between Bruce and Selina as they acknowledged that the other was unmasked, with Harvey being none the wiser, was great.
The bar fight scene with Selina. Best action sequence in the series so far and one of Telltale's best. I was half-expecting to see "Wham!" or "Bap!" appear on the screen like the old Adam West Batman TV series. So much fun.
The Penguin's theatrics at the debate.
Bruce's flashbacks in murder alley.
The big bad reveal and the twist that the Wayne family was part of the cancer eating away at Gotham.
Harvey's voice acting in the scene where he loses it on you and Selina was pretty amazing. It definitely got me invested in Harvey and trying to help him.
Also the bar fight with Bruce and Selina was just straight up fun.
I also like that they're going in a very different direction with the story, where the Waynes seem to have been bad people and it wasn't just a cover-up or being framed. I'm interested in where they go with that.
Can I say that so far everything has been amazing?
I hope we get another season.
The Choice in Episode 2 to choose between visiting Mayor Hill as Bruce or Batman, was by far my most favorite choice in this game.
I do enjoy Bruce giving Selina the Batarang in Episode 3(If you catch my drift)
I also love how determinate your relationship with Batman and Jim Gordon and the people of Gotham.
Also, the man himself Dave Fennoy voicing Lucius Fox.
I love all the scenes with Harvey. I like when you have to play politics with him at the beginning and when he'll just pull all these strings and you're standing outside Falcone's room before he even asks what that's about. I liked just how long he waited to try and cut ties (the codex at one point mentions that Harvey still hasn't tried) and how it's a shitty situation and feeling kind of like a break-up but he's still there for you. I love him at the debate choosing to try and save Hill and being, as someone else put it, "really half a saint." I loved that I could save him from the face mutilation, if nothing else, and Bruce concerned about what will happen when he wakes up because trauma. I love visiting him in the hospital wing and he trusts you enough to open up, even putting on a brave face. He tells you about his mental issues (no details but not surprising) and apologizes for being a bad friend, even though you get the reasoning and even though nothing changed on Bruce's popularity. He takes time out from his own trauma and horror (blaming himself for Hill and the moderator, thinking he was being a coward because he wasn't prepared to basically be Batman) to ask Bruce how he's doing with what happened and apologizing for bringing it up if Bruce doesn't want to share. I play it like Bruce always likes to not talk about things but Harvey keeps asking and Bruce ends up making the effort to be an active friend and tell him the parts he can talk about. Then the most obvious scene ever where they notice the Batsignal and suddenly Bruce has to go and Harvey clearly doesn't want him to and saying he can stay if he wants but you have to go. Then coming back to save Harvey again and the way he shakes your hand and says the mayor is on his side...so much love.
Then watching the slow unraveling in the office and seeing how down Harvey is about the mayorship. But at least his concerns about the portrait are that people didn't really choose him and he feels like he wasn't what they wanted and not the fact he's going to be memorialized with half a face that won't stop bleeding (and damn all those pictures of him form the campaign...who put those up after he's disfigured? It wasn't there before the disfigurement). Him being understandably grateful to Batman but then slowly going overboard and Batman himself having to say that that clearly wasn't what Batman wanted because Batman doesn't really answer to anyone and the surprise Two-Face line at the end that Harvey begs you to keep quiet about and, against your better judgement, you do (not as heartbreaking as the two parts of Harvey aware of each other and arguing and that horrible little mask. He's doing his job if he's not injured). And you have to argue against Harvey's proposal or we get into Two-Face police state brainstorming.
Then the look on his face when he says goodbye and it feels a bit more final than it should. Then kind of hating yourself for turning Selina down because she really needs to have a conversation with Harvey and her leading him on doesn't mean I'm okay with Bruce hooking up with his friend's sort-of-something then or in the immediate aftermath. Like try again in a year or so. And then the next day when he has no clothes and she has no clothes and deciding to bite the bullet and come out of the bedroom because you did nothing wrong and don't want to make it look like you're hiding and guilty if she can't get rid of him. Then him just losing it and trying everything to calm him down. Him begging Bruce not to leave him alone and Bruce trying to help and Selina being the realist pointing out they don't really know how and then Harvey just leaving and saying he doesn't deserve Bruce's help. Two-Face insulting him about leaving like a dog and Harvey just looking so shaken and defeated and I am so, so worried about what's to come. He still likes Batman but he institutionalizes Bruce and we don't know anything about why he did it or what he thinks or how that relationship is going to go and if everything falls apart when there wasn't even sex then...
This story is so good and so complicated and breaking my heart and I love the rest of it (except the second time I played and had to interact with Vicki at the park) but that is my favorite part. Favorite like dozen scenes.
My highlights so far:
The opening with Batman taking down those thugs, showcasing just how terrifying Batman can be, and his "meet cute" with Catwoman in the middle of a heist.
Vicki Vale's introduction at the fundraiser, with the music, dress, and her obvious spunk. In hindsight it takes on a whole different context, but it's still a nice scene.
Bruce and Selina's back-and-forth at the cafe.
It wasn't my first choice, but Batman going after Hill and terrifying the living @#$% out of him was very satisfying.
The bar fight with Selina.
The first time Batman, at any point, calls Gordon "Jim."
Harvey being "We'll always be friends Bruce."
The debut of The Penguin at the debate.
The sweet moments at the end between Bruce and Selina/Harvey depending on who you save.
The debut of the Bat-Signal.
The moment in his office where you realize Harvey has the coin and his Two-Face voice starts slipping in.
Catwoman saving Batman and that whole sequence at Selina's apartment.
All the small moments with Alfred.
I thought it was just me man
There are so many favorite scenes of mine to point to, but I cannot describe the sheer joy I felt while playing the bar fight scene with Bruce and Selina. There's something about complementary fight scenes that just really speaks to me. Maybe that's why I liked that one scene from Pacific Rim so much.
There have also been quite a few scenes with Harvey that truly sent chills down my spine (I saved Selina in my game, so Harvey is definitely... aggressive). I think Travis Willingham's brought a lot of emotion to Harvey Dent that you just don't get in the movies.
I agree...best Harvey ever.
I really love this Harvey in the game. A sympathetic, relatable and tragic character.
I also always enjoy seeing a Telltale Staff member in the forum. Always a joy to have a chance to interact with you.
Totally agree. It's super weird for me, because he's usually the character I'm least interested in.
And hey! It's nice to interact with you guys here too Hoping to pop in and comment (wherever I can) pretty regularly!
Harvey's meltdown in Selina's apartment was a voice acting tour-de-force. The best scene in the series so far.
I was about to write that. Great pick! xp

One of my favorites moments was debate (birth of "the new face of gotham" ;p )
Another moment was when harvey was strugling with himself fliping coin in selina apartment
Psychopaths are most intresting ;p
YES. I had totally forgotten about Harvey ~in the moment~ and that speech made me feel pretty awful. SUCH a good performance.
