Red Dead Redemption is THE best open World game. At least for me. Can't wait!
I'm wondering if the protagonist is someone from the first game or a brand new character.
I'm thinking it has to be the same time as Jack Marston or before John Marston's time even. Otherwise we'll be pushing WW1 dates.

I'll be honest. I never really got into the second/first game. Wasn't a fan of the horse and what I was doing for the first two hours wasn't really clear or interesting. I played it for 4 hours or so and never picked it up again. Maybe one day.
I have to mention the confusing title as well. The third game is called Red Dead Redemption 2? If that's where they're going, then the story HAS to be related to the last game.
It's going to be delayed to 2018 trust me we all know RockStar Games are perfectionists with their games and that is an amazing quality to have! I wish them the best! Red Dead Redemption is still one of my favorite RockStar games to date. A bit below Grand Theft Auto V.
Its most likley a prequel. The teaser has some Characters from red dead redemption 1.

Hooray. Loved Rockstar's Red Dead. The shooting gameplay was so good, it felt like that should be the standard.
Loved RDR. But, I'm still holding out for sequels to LA Noire and Bully.

I hope not, id be really disappointed if Rockstar didn't learn the first time how annoying it was to not have a pc release, and then just delay it constantly when it finally was announced.

I dont think so. His Voice Actor and Motion Capture Artist left the industry after Red Dead Redemption. John Marston without Rob Wiethoff is like Handsome Jack without Dameon Clarke.
Hopefully not. As much as I loved Marston, I'd like to see a new protagonist in each instalment in the games. Keep things fresh.

I actually preferred the more comedic arcade style over the dark open-world narrative.

yes, LA Noire 2 from Rockstar games themselves would be so good. No Team Bondi and such, even though they delivered a great game.
About 30 years. Revolver was set in the 1880s and Redemption in 1911.

Well they didn't work on Red Dead Revolver so they will have to give credit to whoever created the first game.

The first one was a good game, but it had very little replay value, or least that's what I found to be the case.

Sequel, prequel or a brand new story? I'm thinking a brand new 'redemption' story, with the time period of the first Red Dead Redemption, there's really no place for a direct sequel. And I hope it's not a prequel because I almost never enjoy that. Maybe it's set right after the Civil War, or, since it's seven character in the picture, maybe it will be Rockstars version of "The Magnificent Seven"?
They actually made revolver. But i think they chose the name because of...
1)...Brand recognition. Red dead Redemption was a very successful game with over 14 Million Sold copies. Its just smart to choose this name to build on it's legacy.
2)...the story. It will most likely have more in common with red dead redemption than Red dead revolver. In the teaser you can see (presumably) Bill Williamson and John Marston. Red Dead Revolver was mentioned in Red Dead Redemption, but only through dialogues from two npc's in armadillo.
Either way, i am more than excited to see, what they can do without Lezlie Benzies, who left R* a year Agonie and who presumably made Red Dead Redemption the way it is now, because the team couldnt move the game in a good direction, because the Engine was or is pretty much broken. That's also the reason, why Red Dead Redemption never came to PC or Current Gen. The devs didnt want to touch the code more than necessary.
Anyone remember this leaked map from awhile back? If this game really does feature Dutch's gang again I think that the leaked map is most definitely real.
I'm pretty confident that we're looking at Dutch's gang in that teaser picture, from left to right I think it's John Marston, Jack Swift (will give Revolver a tie-in to Redemption also), Dutch, a new character (whom I'm pretty sure is this game's protagonist) Bill (by far the most obvious one to point out there) and the remaining two are brand new characters.
From what I've seen thus far, I think it's very likely this game will be a prequel centered on Dutch's gang. But I do not think John will be the protagonist this time since he already had a very established past in Redemption, also if you can swim in this game it'll contradict the fact that John himself couldn't in Redemption 1. So basically I think we'll be seeing John Marston from an outsider's perspective this time in Redemption 2. And heck, I'm actually kinda speculating that we'll see a very dark and violent John Marston in this one. With how loved he was in the original Redemption it'd give his character an extra layer if we actually do see him as the evil scumbag that he once was. Will give some more perspective to see how much of a changed man he became in Redemption 1.
This would also allow us to still make the new protagonist our own and the honor system can still be kept in place. I think if John was the protagonist again you'd have nothing but negative karma with that reputation he had back when he was riding with Dutch's gang.
Either way I'm REALLY excited for this trailer tomorrow, so much so I'm not sure if I'll be able to sleep tonight!
