I guess Guybrush has to insult-swordfight the mysterious woman at the beginning of Episode 2… with already learned insults, like arm wrestling in EfMI. Peppered with some nice scripted camera- and stunt-action on the ship, pirate-movie-style!
*cling* *clang* *cling* You -- *woosh!* You fight like a -- *cling* *clingclang* -- like a dairy farmer! *cling* Hah! *jump* *woosh* *clang* Well, how appropriate! *swish* *swosh* You fight like a cow! *PUNCH* Argh!!
Hmm. How about Inuit Swordfighting? That would be fresh.
Solid. But wouldn't Inuits be more into, I don't know, insult swordfishing. Or maybe Insult Iceskating. Insult Snowshoeing... hmmm. I'll have to get back to you on that.

I really missed insult swordfighting in MI2, and was ecstatic when I saw that they had it in MI3. However, when I actually got to play it, I realised that not including it in 2 had been a wise choice, and that retreading the whole thing again in 3 just wasn't fun, and while the whole 'rhyming' thing tried to add something to it I found it actually subtracted from the actual fun of insult swordfighting for me, and while I can still remember most of the standard insults in MI1, MI3 draws a blank for me.
So, in essence, I'm no longer keen on seeing insult swordfighting return in any form except as references and maybe the occasional one-off fight with the insults already known (as mentioned previously), unless they manage to pull off some whole new thing that manages to be as memorable while being completely different.
I don't feel like I'm missing anything without it because it's been done so well in the past, if it became some sort of mandatory thing that every MI game NEEDS some sort of insult sword fighting/spinoff combat mini game it would just get beaten to death and you would get awkward results i.e. Monkey Kombat.
On the other hand if an idea comes up naturally and it fits into the game well then I'm all for it, I guess my point is as long as it's not forced.
So either way I'm good, as long as the game overall is good.

I didnt mind it in 3, I enjoyed it. Wasnt as good as the first insult swordfighting, but I still enjoyed it.
I voted dueling with insults already learned, but now I regret it. I'd rather have some other form of dueling that doesn't involve insults. You can tell in MI2 that they didn't want to beat that dead horse when Guybrush tried swordfighing with Mr. Rogers. Instead they came up with another form of dueling that you had to cheat to win. Perhaps we should be changing the medium and making general "dueling" the key MI trademark rather than "insulting." And change it up with different ways to overcome the obstacle each time (ie- learning insults, cheating, something else next time).

What's an Inuit?!?!
Inuit: more commonly known as eskimos.

I am now visualizing two pirates facing off against each other, wielding the inuits as swords (in the form of Ice Climbers strangely enough). Damn it.
