First FUNNY video game you've ever played.

edited August 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
What would you say was the first video game (PC, PS2, Wii, Apple 2, whatever) that you actually LAUGHED at? And I mean, because of the actual humor supplied with the game. Not if the game was so horrible that you laughed, or you it was so badly translated that you got a chuckle..

Mine would be Space Quest 2. There's a bit after the long intro when you're dumped on this planet. Right away you can die (Killer plant I think). And if you die, the whole game rips you a new one, from the "Game over bit", to the game's menus. I remember going into the help menu, and it was still mocking you for your epic failure. I about fell out of my chair.

How 'bout you?

I can't remember whether I played Discworld 2 or Crash Bandicoot first, but I guess Crash Bandicoot's death animations made me laugh a few times.

I think the game that I remember having played in my MSX sometime around '89 and that had some bit of humour in it was Terramex. Giant pinball to stop a meteor? lol

Then later of course The Secret of Monkey Island on the Amiga. Although I never thought it to be a laugh out loud game, but instead an amusing game that induce chuckles and smiles.

The game that introduced me to the MI games.
Escape from Monkey Island, Monkey 4.
I might try and pick up 1, 2 and 3 though..
I am loving 5 so far!

Same here. I bought a booster pack and Monkey 4 and started 4.
It made me crack up so I decided to go play the others before finishing it.

Either Space Quest 6 or Larry 7.
Of course, if you mean games that aren't suppose to be funny, but you laugh AT them, than 'Return to Zork' ('want some rye? course ya do':o :p)

I think mine was Return to Zork, too. Boos was hilarious!

besides all the old, classic games i often laughed playing a game not that popular: "Giants - Citizen Cabuto".

mine was either Toonstruck (Carecrow and an S&M loving cow? Loved that stuff)
or... something that i can't remember.... when i was a child had a whole pack of sierra adventure games with mother goose and kings quest 7 but none of them were really funny

This is a good topic. I never thought about it much.

There was lighthearted/funny stuff like Commander Keen, but as far as proper comedies go, I think it has to be either Space Quest IV or Toejam & Earl, probably the latter since I think I got SQ4 a little later.

I generally only like comedic adventure games but I tend not to laugh much during them.

Perhaps that makes me a bit odd.

The Legend of Zelda: Orcarina of Time (or maybe Majora's Mask). It was hilarious to watch the chickens gang up on Link after killing just one.

Either The Neverhood or Oddworld: Abe's Oddysey.

Sam & Max Hit the Road. The only other game I had back then was Doom, which isn't meant to be funny.

The original Sam and Max. I still have vague memories playing it.

Wow. You guys make me feel so old.

MI would be the second game to make me laugh...And Sam & Max was a classic. Love the bit where you keep trying to get Sam to pick up something, and he just breaks down in tears.

Hmm... Space Invaders don't count? I remember laughing really hard whenever I screw up with a mistake. Pacman was also funny for me, when I manage to die without completing eating have the dots on the map. Alley Cat was humorous to me, when the cat had to jump up the hearts to find romance.

Crash Bandicoot, It made you laugh at your failed attempts. Otherwise it would be CMI.

I believe the first Discworld game. I was under 10 at the time.
