The "Buggy" Man? Possible spoilers

I seem to have inventory issues with the Bogey Man. Some items that I have picked up (Clue finder, eavesdropper) have gone missing. I know I am supposed to have them, as Wallace keeps hinting what I'm supposed to do, but the items are gone. Anyone else having this issue? A game stopping bug so early is frustrating.

    Your system specs would be handy here:

    Go to your Start menu and click on Run.
    Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter.
    Then go to the Display tab
    While here, the useful things for us:
    Name:
    Current Display Mode:
    Main Driver:
    Version:
    Date:
    Also, what is your operating system?

    Where are you currently in the game? It's possible that it's a bug with the hint system and not the game logic, so the more information you can give me, the better. Thanks!
