The Wayne Family Name: Can a family that famous/infamous ever live down it's shameful past?
I'm a bit of a History buff. And the Wayne legacy reminds me alot of some famous real world families. I mean, would you buy a product or service from Hitler Enterprises? I fear this change in our Batman cannon. For me, Batman was already "Troubled" enough. There was no need to do this to a cornerstone of his lore. But it does get us talking so...I get it. This feels "Batman Beyond" to me. Which is fine, just not my Dark Night. If everthing presented is true, this Bruce Wayne is finished. And thus Batman. If you were Bruce how would you rebuild Gotham's trust in you?

By kissing babies. Politicians do that during campaign.
Fact is that Bruce doesn't need Gotham's trust to be Batman.
And I love the twist of Thomas Wayne being a bad guy.
I really did enjoy the corrupt Wayne twist, personally. Although this is kind of sort of my introduction to Batman lore, so I can understand it being perceived either way by long time fans.
As for Bruce's reputation, I'm not quite sure if it's repairable, at least entirely. The intense hatred towards him would likely fade with time if he conducts himself well and remains somewhat on the sidelines. If he doesn't give the people anything to scream about, his role as the town scape-goat would likely continue, but become less-pronounced. Others will become more tolerant of Bruce, and focus their attention on the next scandal. You know, some other poor sap could be thrown under the bus for alleged scandalous acts, stealing the ever so welcomed spotlight. That seems to be a general trend, if I'm not mistaken. But with a name like Wayne and a scandal that substantial, I'd say Bruce will be dealing with the repercussions of the public-eye for quite awhile. There will probably always be someone who will encounter him with disgust, no matter how much time has past. I'm sure he can still maintain some of his supporters, so at least there's that.
Yeah, I'd probably try to not get drugged with a substance that strips you of control while being coaxed into beating someone in front of a vast crowd of people, if possible. It's best to lay low, and avoid fueling the people with anymore heavy artillery. Still, I'd go out and live my life, and try to express an image of someone with integrity. I'd defend myself if confronted by someone, but remain cool despite however such an encounter would make me feel. I'd always have Batman, when needed.
Unless he gives his mansion and makes up for everything his father did (Though he doesn't have to, he doesn't owe anything to anyone) I don't think his name will ever be the same, the only way I see Bruce could clean his name is showing the world he is Batman, only after he saved the city from the Children of Arkham.
