wow this fourm almost tricked me into thinking Seson 3 was terrible lol

The first thing I did when the game was released was check this forum to see what people on here thought of it. Big mistake on on my part (I have not been on the forum for a while so I forgot how over the top some of the reaction on here can be at times )

I still remember everybody going crazy on here when minecraft story mode was announced lol

Some of the response on here was so negative that I thought Telltale must have really blew it this time

I pretty much ignored the game until one day I happen to stumble upon IGN review of it. that review made me check out other reviews for the game and I discovered that this was a much better game then people on here initially lead me to believe.

So finally I decided to buy the first 2 episodes to see what all the fuss was about

I have to say I was shocked to how good these two episode actually are

I agree with some of the people on here who are upset at how Kenny or Jane story was handed but to be honest I really don't think Kenny or Jane should have been in this game at all

This is Javier story not Clementine's and while it is great to see Clem again I felt like it was a big mistake to include flashbacks of Clem's past.
I think the story would have been a lot better had we only saw Clem through Javier eyes instead of adding pointless flashbacks that did noting but anger some of the fans

having said all that I really enjoyed the first two episodes and what surprised me the most about the game was how good of a character Javier is turing out to be. When I saw the teaser I was worried that he would end up being the weak link but Honestly he is the character Im liking the most so far

  • I don't think the flashbacks will be pointless in the end (though longer flashbacks would be nice). Lets be honest: they already gave Kenny an emotional and huge [determinant] death in Season 2. The alone ending is the best option and I still stand by it (especially after... what happened). I also agree: this game is incredible so far and Telltale is doing a hell of a job like usual. My only complaint is the lack of playable Clem.

  • I know right. When i came on here, there were hella "disappointment" threads, and I was nervous. But then i played those episodes and was like, " this is awesome", then i went to check those threads and all it amounted to was " ya ruined Kenny/Jane" or " why u no give me more Clem". Its all good, I'm enjoying the shitstorm in this forum.

  • This is why I don't let opinions influence me that much. Oftentimes I disagree with them, so id rather see for myself.

  • I'm getting sick of people making the same threads about the flashbacks tbh

  • I agree with most of what you said. I love the game and I enjoy the flashbacks.

  • But Javier's story is also embarassing. Especially the writing between him and Clem, it's just feels like a fanfiction, and a poor fanfiction at that. And Tripp is probably the most bland character I've ever seen in a Telltale game.

  • I like Tripp tbh

It's not terrible, but it is too short and sloppily written in some areas, and worst of all it disregarded every Season 2 ending but Alone.

  • It is not a bad game at all, its a wonderful story, its just the flashbacks with Kenny, alone, Jane, and Wellington people were made about. I feel that they should have either made the flashbacks longer, or have flashbacks of the endings in each episode. Or I feel that it would have been cool if they had an episode dedicated to the endings and to give ppl a sense of closure.

I also am enjoying this season. I don't know if it'll be better than season 1 when it ends, but I'm already enjoying this season a lot more than I did season 2. My only problem right now is that the episodes are too short. Ties that Bind parts 1 and 2 I think would've been better off as just one episode.

  • A lot of people are mad because determinant characters died a stupid death.

Because that never happens in TellTale Games.

  • I feel kinda like I made the mistake of seeing the review scores and not actually reading the reviews. Oddly enough, most list my gripes with the season so far, though of the ones I've read only polygons score actually reflected its text. It's not a bad game by any means, it runs better than any of the previous games I've played and it is pretty good looking. But I'm not really a TT fan, TWD was the only series I've really been interested in, and such a dramatic shift in what is essentially a soft reboot has really come on a sour note. It's just not the follow up I was expecting or hoping for after season 2.

Maybe the story telling will end up a bit more diverse as the season goes on, and we'll actually get more than just Javier, I'm hoping, but I'm going to have to wait until all 5 episodes are out to make that judgment. As it stands, if this is the new direction the series is going in it'll probably be my last, but it is what it is, I'll get over it and move on to something new.

  • Same here. I literally almost got a refund from steam before I had even downloaded and played it because I was hearing such negativity about Season 3. Glad I didn't!
