It'd just make more sense to release the disk versions after all of the episodes have been made (like with typical tv shows), so that you don't find yourself going the MCSM route and releasing two versions of the same game- one with three out of the first four episodes in need of download, and the other with all episodes readily available. It's just counterproductive when there are more effective ways resources could be used.
Not sure I'd call it shady. Probably more of a stupid and wasteful decision. Why bother printing these BluRay discs if you barely even take… more advantage of them? And it also goes against the very reason people buy physical copies of games. To not wait until the damn thing downloads.
Yeah i specifically waited until TWD s3 came on retail disc as i thought it was finished since the disc came out so late March 2017
And i was surprised that only 2 episodes have been released, i thought if it wasn't finished by now then im surly more eps would at least been released by now
I don't really know of a phone service provider that offers this for less than $200+ a month(phone bill, data plan, and hotspot included) - at least not any that are worth a damn or even somewhat "fast." Don't forget also, that it's the people who live in RURAL areas that don't have cable or fiber internet available to them. These rural areas are also less likely to have cell phone towers nearby, which means much slower speed on cell phones. That's the problem though. For people who can't afford internet that costs the same as their utility bill to still be forced to download games is to ignore players who aren't well off. Which is hilarious because Telltale games are more or less budget games, and they could likely reach a much broader range of consumers without the downloading aspect.
The reason why they do that is because they release the physical copy before the season is finished.
They do this because they don't want people that want to go physical, but also stay updated with the series, to have to wait until it ended.

If the first episode is available on the disc and you have to download the rest, you ain't got nothing to complain about.

Misleading? It is stated on the cover.

Seeing how the XB1 season pass disc has early walking dead leaks it could be beneficial to have a disc version.
