Negan: A Telltale Mini-Series (Just an Idea)
So The Walking Dead: A New Frontier just came out (and I'm a fan myself), and it followed Michonne: A Telltale Mini-Series (not such a fan, but didn't think it was horrible. Just my opinion). Anyways, I got to thinking, what if they did a mini-series on Negan? Personally, I haven't read the comics but I do watch the show and right now Negan is a pretty big deal for The Walking Dead world.
I am fascinated by his character. Negan is so charismatic and actually funny even when he's doing something awful, such as burning a mans face with an iron, or going into a hostile groups base (mainly our groups base) in order to extort them. He makes you want to be his friend because he's so confident, even when he's killed some of your old friends and takes your stuff. So he's obviously very ruthless, cold, violent, cunning, and just plain scary, along with those other positive(?) qualities. But you can tell that he does want to be liked and might very have his own reasons for doing what he does. This is why I think he would be a perfect Telltale character to play as.
Playing as Negan, you could go into another groups base and: a) show mercy, b) make an example or c) just kill all of them. Now this is a very cut and dry scenario and I would expect Telltale to expound upon this analogy, but you can see where I'm going with this idea. This could also be a great way to actually get us closer to Negan and sympathize with him (assuming Telltale pulls at the right heartstrings) and get us to respect him as a villain and just as a character.
One thing to note about this idea though, I do know that Negan's backstory is explored in the comics, I just don't know to what extent because as I said I don't read them and haven't gotten that far in the show, but surely there is some point in the comics that Telltale could find, like they did with Michonne, and use that time for you to play as Negan. Or if there would be a way for Telltale to expound upon Negan's origin story in some way, how he amassed so much power and what happened to make him the man he is today, then that would be a perfect project for Telltale to take on. I just feel like Negan, especially in the early days of the outbreak, could be a very good neutral character that is capable of actually doing some good acts, or some very, VERY heinous ones. And that would be the perfect position for the player to take control and make those decisions and the live with the consequences.
Like I said, I just got to thinking about Telltale and their Walking Dead series and the comics and tv show and how all three effect one another, and then how Telltale just took a comic character and made their own story about her and thought, "Why couldn't they do that again? Except this time, with the bad guy."

Yeah I think it'd be interesting. Not relevant to the main arc though but still more enjoyable than watching Michonne having a schizophrenic flash of her daughter's every five seconds. I don't know what the hell Telltale's tendency to make us play all good guys all the fucking time.
Well, what if it was relevant to the main arc of the series? What I mean is, what if they do a mini-series on Negan, and then the choices you make as him come back in season 4 (because season 3 is already here), if they make another season that is, and when you are playing as whoever is the playable character in season 4, those choices as Negan can change the story (and take the word change with a grain of salt as we all know how Telltale works by now) for your new character for better or worse. I will say though, one big problem with this idea is that Season 3 is very close to where the comics are now so I don't know what allotted time Telltale could get away with in order to get Negan coenciding with Season 4. I don't know if this idea would really work like I'm thinking it could, but who knows?
Telltale has proven they can't be trusted to deliver what the fans want, so Negan has to wait for another company
This would actually be so cool! Negan's quite possibly the best villain in the whole series, and to see more of his backstory would be really interesting. We'd get to figure out the story behind the baseball bat (I'm pretty sure he named it after his wife), how he formed the Saviors, why and how he went from being a car salesman to a murdering psychopath, and maybe crack a few skulls or twelve Like @Clemenem said, we rarely get to play the bad guy in these games, and it would definitely be a nice change of pace.
Besides, Negan himself probably thinks that he's in the right anyways, so from his perspective, we'd be playing the good guy, anyways!
I'm already doing this
Thanks Blind Sniper for the edit.
Wouldn't necessarily need to be his backstory. Where the comic is right now, he's been promised a job to do and a place to live a little away from the main communities once the current sitch is resolved. If he's a little proactive, he could get into all kinds of trouble from there and then we could have fun deciding exactly how strictly he feels like following Rick's agenda.
Only problem with that is that he may still remain a major character in the comic, making it hard to finagle roleplaying adventures without impacting the latter one way or another. Michonne's absence was canon long before her miniseries was conceived if I'm not remembering it wrong. And I don't actually want Negan to drop out of the comic, even just for a while.
I'd LOVE a Negan mini series.
