Poll! Did you join TTG forums just for ToMI?

In another thread someone brought up that this board has become a new meeting place for Monkey Island fans. I am curious, first, if it is true, and second whether those fans were here already and just stopped going to the other sites, or came here after ToMI was released and stayed.

I had zero interest in Telltale until Tales of Monkey Island.

After playing the first twenty seconds of Episode 101 of Sam and Max: Save the World I started a massive buying spree with some money I had saved up from working.

They are now my favorite game producing company.

I just remember flipping the hell out when they released Sam and Max, I was beside myself, They have been one of my top 3 producer/designers ever since. (With Blizzard and Bioware)

The first time I ever knew about a new Sam & Max Game or TT for that matter was when I saw Season 1 on XboxLive. Played it and loved it, hadn't played an adventure game in a long long time so it was cool.

I was talking video games with a co-worker one day and I mentioned Monkey Island, he said he found it recently and played a little.. but didn't give it much thought... I told him what a masterpiece it is and commanded him to keep playing, and to play the sequels as well, anyways...
He also mentioned there was an announcement that there would be a new MI game. I was really excited when I heard the news but figured it would be months and months before so much as a screen shot would come out...

Then SoMI:SE came out for XboxLive and I played that for a few days.. After a while of feeling all was too good to be true, I decided to see what this info on a new MI game was... I found out, the first episode had been out for a few days already!! I bought it that night and after a while I knew it was a success! Even before I played it I was confident I was in good hands because of my experience with Sam & Max S1.

I have since played Sam & Max S2 and thought it was just great. Absolutely loved it and what a step up from last season too. Looking forward to Season 3.

As a fairly new customer it seems to me like TT gets better and better at what they do very fast and I look forward to seeing what direction this company goes in. They are my favorite devs right now and I've never even really had a 'favorite' game developement company so I think that says a lot.
    :)

Wow I didn't mean for that to be so long lol.

I had an account but never visited the forums until TMI came out. Still frequent a lot of other forums. But I didn't join the forums just for TMI, merely because of it.

I have an account since S&M Episode 5. And never left...
Oddly enough I found out about Telltale searching for info about CSI.
I downloaded the CSI:3D demo and wanted to buy it, but couldn't because Ubi only offered to sell me the European version and S&H was $10 more than the game (Thanks Ubi for giving me that option)
After a few months I checked back the site for updates on CSI (hoping for lower prices or better choices) but instead got S&M on the front page... downloaded Episode 5, played the demo, bought the demo, upgraded to season pass and the rest is history. So thanks again Ubi :)

Heard of em when they made Sam and Max but it never sparked my interest until Monkey Island came back from the ashes. Seems like the voodoo lady was right, true evil cant die.

I heard about Sam & Max Season 1 a week or so before the first episode came out, and quickly preordered. But I didn't start posting in the forums (or even register a forum name, for that matter) until TOMI... I never felt I had much to add to the discussion until then I guess. I'm still not sure I have much to add, for that matter. Oh well.

I've been into Telltale for years but I didn't start actively posting until the MI announcement, now I'm a posting fiend.

Wook at all the wittle ones... aren't they so cute ^_^

Being an adventure game fanatic, I took an immediate interest before they even released their first title...

<<< So yeah, I've been around since the beginning! (more or less)

Though admittedly, it was when they acquired the CSI: rights (right after they did Bone Pt. 1) that I began to take them seriously.

I have purchased every Telltale game since...

I had played demos of S+M S1 before, and I had bought SBCG4AP Ep1 for my Wii. But aside from that, nothing much. Then I learned about ToMI from E3 coverage, and pre-ordered it. This gave me a free episode, so I went for S+M S2, Ep1. Bad move. I was hooked, and had to instantly buy the rest of the season. I got the free DVD for S+M S2, and absolutely enjoyed it (there's a LOT of extras!). In the meantime I played ToMI Ep1. But after S+M and ToMI, I had to wait until the next ToMI episode, and I felt some TTG withdrawal syndrome... So ... I ordered the full SBCG4AP season, AND the DVD. It's great. I love it. The reversible DVD cover is hilarious. The extras are nuts!!!

TTG's stuff is insanely great. Excellent value for the money, seriously. One of the best companies out there right now. I'd say they're at the top when it comes to fan service.

Only came in the first place because of ToMI, but have recently become a huge Sam & Max fan :D

I had a TTG account from S&M S1, but I only played a couple of episodes before I lost interest (not sure why)

When ToMI was announced I preordered immediately and have since played more S&M and W&G and love it all now! I've not tried Strongbad yet as I've not seen any of the source material.

I do visit other forums, but not MI forums.

Not sure which option I come under there!

When did "Abe Lincoln Must Die!" come out for free? That's when I first played a Telltale game, and loved it. Money was somewhat short at the time, though, so I couldn't play it. According to my join date, I got into buying the Sam and Max seasons a few months after the second season finished, with SBCG4AP coming out fairly soon after I snagged those up.

While waiting for ToMI I've played thru S&M s1 and s2 plus W&G s1. Got impatient.

I joined when Sam & Max season 2 came out but didn't really start posting until Tales was announced.

I joined way back to complain about Bone and the DRM they were using :D

I changed my username here once, though... it used to be laffer, can't remember why I wanted to change it to this.

I got a Telltale account specifically to purchase ToMI. I already had Sam and Max Season 1 via a direct purchase from Steve Purcell at ComicCon. I'm not on any MI-specific forums, but I am on several different forums, including Video Games Live as my sig would indicate.

Been following telltale since Texas hold 'em/bone days. remember the hype around that silhouette Telltale posted on the home page as their first episodic series :p bought hold 'em and Sam and max season 1 on release but didnt post on the forums til ToMI.

I never went to any MI forum before this one because I didn't frequent any forum when I played the original games. I have been posting on these forums before TMI was announced so I'm not sure if I would be frequenting the MI forum if it was produced by someone else. (I'm not frequenting any official MI:SE forum, so maybe I wouldn't.)

I don't really have any of the options that suit me. I visited these forums regularly to see what people were saying about sam and max (this was around late last year), and to see all the buzz when people were waiting for beelzebub to come out. But i never joined, i just read.
When MI came out, i was suprised to see that i hadn't registered already so i joined in the debate this time.
I'm not really an avid participant in any other forums....

And the pole options are actually really contradictory. It's like 2 polls merged into 1. It should be two seperate polls about visiting other forums, and another about joining TTG forums before or after TMI was announced.
  • edited August 2009
It is two polls merged into one, but posting two separate polls would have been spam-like and posting a multiple choice poll wouldn't give me the results I was looking for. There isn't anything really contradictory, except for the negative choice denoting a positive action, which I'll admit was probably a semantic error on my part.

I used to be a member of Scumm Bar and WOMI but stoped going when it looked like nothing was ever going to happen.

I'm a big fan of CSI so I'd had a free demo of the game ages ago (Sorry - I prefer the PC-CDROM version :) ) But when my hubby saw the trailer on YouTube I followed the link and found myself here - now I'm killing time til the next release but have discovered some really talented fans on here so keep checking in to see the next fan vid!

I first learned about telltale, the day sbcg4ap was announced at homestarrunner.com. I read the fourms then and saw what questions people asked and learned more about telltale(i didn't know much because I thought sam and max was a serious action adventure beat em up for whatever reason, and not a funny point n click adventure game) I eventually got an account probably around July of 2008.

I first heard about 'em when someone gave me Sam and Max episode 104. I loved their games but didn't join until TOMI was announced.

Like a few others here, I used to frequent the scummbar forums for a few years since CMI came out. A while after EMI, I stopped going to them, but visited mixnmojo.com about once every six months... just to check. I heard about telltale doing sam and max, but was really too busy with study to check out until this year.

I got episode one through steam, and then the rest of the season. Finished it on the 5th of July this year and decided to come to the source for info on season two (I didn't even realise you could get download straight from Telltale at that stage). Found a monkey island logo on the front page and promptly went bananas... I think that's the fastest I've ever bought anything online ever.

The good thing was, after that, it was only two days until release of narwhal :)

(and yes, I did get sam and max season two- I just finished Moai two days ago and it was awesome. I've also been watching strong bad emails and will probably get that next)

Yes, I frequently visit the Scumm Bar & before it was closed, WoMI, but before TMI was released, I'd never been to these forums before.

I new of Telltale because of Sam & Max Season 1 which I knew was available through Gametap which I never had interest in dealing with. So Tales really got me here but now I have purchased both seasons of Sam & Max as well as the Surfin' the Highway Hardcover edition.

Been here since the Sam & Max days, it was a big day, back then when they finally got a hold of the Sam & Max characters.

I do hope someday Telltale will continue the Texas Hold Em, and Bone.

Texas hold em with all their characters from the various games, combined with more options and wackyness, i see alot of potential :)

Guybrush, Max, Gromit, Strong Bad versus you "the Player"... I'd see high potential in that.
Man, I'd pay loads of money for that.

    What other combinations?
    De Singe, Bosco, Wallace, Homestar?
