General approach to stories
This is my first post on such a site.
I had hoped from the name that the emphasis would be on story lines. Also having watched GoT I liked the idea of interacting with it. So I bought the game. I can bear the downloading, although I prefer to have the physical. However, I can't get past the first fight, so the whole thing has proved a complete waste. Although I enjoyed Witcher 1, I found Witcher 2 too much of a mess to play for long. Do Telltale do any games that live up to the name?

I think the consensus is that The Walking Dead season 1, Tales From the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us are their best stories, so maybe try them.
It sort of depends more on your gamestyle. If you dislike QTES, TTG Games may not be for you. That said, Tells From the Borderlands is prolly your best bet. It's a beautiful, Funny and well crafted Game and Story. While my personal preference is the TWD games. Of which I'd suggest all of them. I still feel TFB is the best game overall TTG has done. If you play that and don't like it. I'd recommend Don'tNod's life is Strange. There is a thread on here somewhere all about that.
They're more interactive TV shows than they are games, but the storyline is usually pretty good most of the time, so we let it slide. Most people consider Walking Dead Season 1, The Wolf Among Us, and Tales from the Borderlands to be Telltale's all-time best, so I'd try those.
The fights shouldn't have any real difficulty so I'm not sure what the issue is.
You just sound like you suck at games telltale are 0/10 when it comes to difficulty
Telltale dont do fights or any gameplay just looking around and pressing buttons when prompted there is no attack button or block button just do what your told and press the button that flashes on screen
I agree that Tales from the Borderlands is a great game, with a great story, but depending on how serious you are, Tales might not be a good game, while it has a very serious tone, its also very unserious at times, which is great, but if he is looking for something purely serious, TWD or The Wolf Among Us is probably a better bet
Telltale did a really bad job at explaining the controls in Game Of Thrones (by just not explaining them, lol) like they don't say, you need to tap quickly or swipe or just hold down the button when to crawl forward under that wagon.
Just try everything possible I guess and you will get past that.
The game is more about conversations than fighting, so don't be afraid - it will not go on like this...
Shame on TTG though, it's not your fault and my brother for example never played a TTG before and needed like 2hours for that too, lol...
Thank you for the comments. I see now how it works. In recent years I have mainly played Bethesda or Dragon Age games, so this style was somewhat alien. I note that Tales of the Borderlands seems to be generally recommended, so I'll look a bit more closely at that. However, I need the possibility to save without too long gaps or too much to do. After all, I am old enough to have played text games and the original Space Invaders. Sometimes in nostalgic mood I even replay an episode of Red Alert. But the first game that really hooked me was Ultima Underworld. But I still read real novels and like to have developing characters.
