Telltale: We want more Elaine! :)
Hello everyone! First post here. I hope this subject wasn't discussed before, so pardon me for double posting.
As with everyone, I was thrilled to play the new Monkey Island series. Thanks Telltale for making this possible! I bought MI5 yesterday and started playing. Finished chapter 1 this afternoon and I must say I was very impressed!
I don't know how other people feel about this, but I thought IMHO that Elaine's presence was brief in chapter 1. I really hope she will be more prominent in the upcoming chapters! I read this rumour on wikipedia that she may be playable in the upcoming chapters? Hope this is true!
But if not, I still love the dialogue between Guybrush and Elaine ever since MI3. Although she had a bit larger role in MI4, I think her role could even be bigger in Tales of MI. And it's great to have Alexandra Boyd back again as her voice. She's a great actress / voice actress.
Maybe I'm just a whee bit impatient and just have to wait the chapter 2 - 5 and see. But I was just giving my 2 cents. So Telltale, give us more Elaine please.

It's true, I wikipedia'd it.
Wikipedia is strange. I see errors on it quite frequently, but when I go in there and try to correct them, it automatically changes em back.
Well, if anything if she'd be playable at some point it'd allow TellTale to flesh her out more and step away from exactly that and give her some good personality.
I mean, multiple characters in adventure games isn't that weird. It could be possible, even if it was brief, like.. when Guybrush will get captured or so during chapter 3/4.
Yes. Alone in the Dark 1 + 4 for example comes into my mind, although it wasn't really multiple, but it could be possible and fun.
If something like that was on Wikipedia then it wasn't on the Tales page or any of the other Monkey/TTG/LucasArts areas that I've got my eye on/ have written; I try to keep everything reliably referenced to the sourcing ideal that Wikipedia is supposed to have. Wikipedia isn't meant to be the place for random unsubstiated rumours or otherwise unpublished material, though there are unfortunately too many places where the net has holes. You need to take care of what you read, and if it doesn't have a footnote number next to it where you can verify the truthfulness for yourself in either a webpage or book, or has colourful banners at the top stating article faults, take it with more than a large pinch of salt.
It's on the Elaine Marley page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elaine_Marley
When I read this again, I realise I've overseen the word "might". But you're right about the footnotes, as it lacks one in that particular sentence.
It not only lacks footnotes, but it said "the developpers".
Developers, developers, developers, developers.
Developers, developers, developers, developers.
Developers, developers, developers, developers.

I'm done now.
do not feed the troll.
Nice observation meander!
Elaine: There's a bad guy who's working for LeChuck. Let's shoot him.
Guybrush: Actually (starts rummaging through his pants), I think I can use this can opener with the ancient metal stump I saw at that temple in the valley on the other side of the island. But we'll need to repair the bridge first, since I kinda damaged it when using that voodoo bowling ball. Maybe I can combine these strands of hair from the Giant Monkey of Coram's Bay(TM) with this paste I found on the beach to create a rudimentary rope. I can then attach the rope to a tree and sew it into the bridge. Once I get the metal stump opened, I'm sure there'll be some random, but useful thingamajig hidden within it that I can use to indirectly cause the death or at least incapacitation of this LeChuck Loving Lackey.
Elaine: [sigh]
Who's "we?"
Whta you talking about?
I believe his point is that the OP is being somewhat presumptuous, assuming that everyone shares his opinion that Elaine should be in the game more. You have to admit he has a point, since the OP essentially spoke up for the entire MI community and declared that we all shared this opinion before he had even heard what everyone else had to say. His actual post is alright as far as addressing it as his opinion, but the title is presumptuous.
Personally, I think more of Elaine would be nice, but only if they did real character development (not just more screen time with some random dialogue). Playing her would also be fun, as long as it was not just a cheap gimmick where you only play her for a short, one-off puzzle.
But currently the only thing that turns me off on TOMY's story is that she sounds like she liked human form lechuck. And that goes against the original story in SOMI, when she tells him to drop dead.
MI2: The very beginning, a small bit in the middle, and the very end.
CMI: The very beginning, and the very end.
EMI: Every 5 seconds
TMI so far: The very beginning and the second part at least.
The "we" are my other personalities. I have several! Muahahahahahahaha!!!!!!
ahum...
Nah, Y'know how hard it is to come up with an original title for a thread?
I certainly was not assuming that everyone shares my opinion, but I thought the title would help a bit to get Telltale's attention. And the the title "I want more Elaine" sounds rather arrogant IMHO.
But back to original subject: I'm glad there are people who share my opinion... I was thinking for a minute I was the only one.
That part of the story was bothering me too. They have progessed after 4 games where she keeps telling LeChuck the same thing, and all of a sudden she falls for his charms, even though she's married and she has gut to fight against LeChuck.
But than again. I don't know what will happen in chapter 2. Maybe she's pretending or something..... Hopefully the writers will look into this.
Maybe being married to Guybrush Threepwood is not as good as she thought. She's practicly acting as his mom most of the time. Maybe she needs some romance and adventures. I think it's her mid-life crysis.
Elaine's life right now.
As to more Elaine, I think the beginning of MI2 summed up the differences in Elaine and Guybrush quite well: Guybrush is like the Indiana Jones, always setting off the traps and legging it from boulders while being shot at by natives, while she is the one who gets him out of trouble, responsible and heroic.
I think it'd be hilarious if Elaine is playable in one small scene, say in a confined area, and she is surrounded in plain sight by random gadgets that Guybrush would drool over but she refuses to pick up any of them (lockpicks, bananas, rope, banjo etc.). She then goes and clears every single puzzle in the scene with the only item in her inventory: her gun/sword
hahaha
"I don't see the use in that..."
"Why would I pick that up?"
"I can't fit that in my pockets!"
"Where am I supposed to put a whole bicycle?"
"That's the largest monkey head I've ever seen!"
yes. yes. YES! Like the
Leave Elaine who she is... a main character that is key to the plots in the games but isn't all that much around.
2nd: Wikipedia is not an encyclopedia... it is done by users/readers and are mostly opinionated facts that most of the time are correct, but can be oh so false at the same time. It is in no way backed by any official encyclopedia and the facts are hardly checked.
I hardly use Wikipedia for this fact... but for some reason, the currect generation of pre-teens and teens use this internet database as 100% real and true info.
