Kevin Bruner steps back as CEO of Telltale Games

“Today I am writing to let you know that I’ll be stepping away from my position as CEO of Telltale,” Bruner wrote in an e-mail to staff this week (obtained by Kotaku). “We’ve grown aggressively since Telltale’s inception, and now Telltale is bigger than I ever dreamed it would be. There are many possible futures for Telltale, and all of them are exciting and uniquely challenging. The time has come to pass the reins to someone that can better drive Telltale to the next level and realize all the potential that is here.”

  • I can't believe it......we did it

  • RIP in peace Telltale Tool?

If the stories of Bruner being responsibl for its continjed use for more than a decade is true... please let it be so, that engine needs to just be trashed a lnd replaced by something like Unreal4.

  • That was also my initial reaction. It will probably take several years, before we feel the changes, but better later then never.

As long as he's making the decision to step-back I'm all for it. Hopefully whatever engine they use (if they change) still has that Telltale charm to it.

Edit - After reading the article, it's just Dan Connors stepping back in. The most we can expect is slightly longer episodes.

  • They are going back to (indefinitely) having Dan Connors as CEO; they would still not switch from Telltale Tool even when Dan Connors was CEO. I don't think someone besides Kevin being CEO will result in them switching the engine they use.

  • But they should, because the Engine is the one thing, that gets harshly critisized. Allways.

  • This is certainly interesting for sure.

If what I've read about the corporate culture is true, hopefully some things change under new management.

  • Well, hopefully now they'll replace the ancient engine.

Dan Connors is going to be CEO again, i can't see them dropping their current engine as they seemed happy using it before Kevin took over the role from Dan back and in 2015.

  • When everything is going badly so you just stumble out and leave

  • Thank goodness, he needed to step down and someone more fitting for the role of CEO needed to step in. Good to hear Dan Connors is stepping back into the role, hopefully things will begin to change for the better when it comes to how the company is run.

Time to hope ANF improves... a lot... in all ways.

  • Guess whos back...

    Back again...

    Connors back...

    From the dead....

  • This is one of the top 10 posts I have seen since I joined. claps

  • If this will take Telltale in better directions, then I am all for it.

But I am curious, what makes you guys think Dan Connor will do a better job as CEO? It is simply because he was the CEO before and he got past experience?

  • Did they delete the other thread about the new CEO?

Wish this wasn't all happening halfway through the season. It'll suffer.

I wouldn't mind that much if they refunded people and just went back to the drawing board.

  • It'll suffer.

Are you saying it hasn't suffered yet?

  • I hope this means "A New Day" At telltale games.

  • Well indeed :p

  • This is absolutely wonderful.

  • huhuhu....speaking of taking telltale in better directions.... cough the wolf among us 2 would be a great start

  • Well the person taking over needs to get people who work on twdg mostly to get their stuff together. They need to have someone who can keep them on a schedule and then they can give us the fans a better idea of what is going on with their games. They have been doing an awful job with that recently.

For example the Michonne series was suppose to come out in the fall that year, didn’t come out until late winter the next year. Did anyone from telltale tell us they game was being pushed back a few months, nope we got nothing.

Before s3 came out, there was a long period of time with no news. I feel like they can’t tell us anything because they themselves don’t know when their own games are going to be finished, which that is something they should know.

  • OMG we did it we fucking did it!
