Has anyone played The Lost Crown?

edited August 2009 in General Chat
Last year I bought & played The Lost Crown, and I thought it was overall an excellent game. Great atmosphere, and I enjoyed the puzzles. I really enjoyed learning all of the various ghost stories. I also really liked using all of the ghost-hunting equipment.

Biggest problem was probably the voice acting for the player character; the developer probably shouldn't have cast himself, or at least he should have taken some voice lessons or something, because there were way too many akward pauses mid-sentance (though I guess some of it could have been from re-using dialogue chunks and piecing them together).

Anyone else played it?

Hadn't even heard of it before I read your post, but it looks like it got nice reviews and all. I really like Ghost Stories, so I think I will pick it up. Thanks for bringing it up!

If you do get it, you may want to get this patch. It solves an inventory problem which can screw up the game (one of those "if you use object X under such and such a condition, the game crashes" type of things). Although, I think it might only be a problem with US versions of the game.

Adventure Gamers has got a nice compilation of info and usually writes good reviews. I got the game and the patch (thank you!) and I have to say that I agree with the AG review on this one. Not being able to skip the "small talk" is very annoying. Still, the atmosphere and the ghost hunting is kind of fun, except for some obvious gaps in the script.

Have you finished the game? I'm curious to hear your overall review.

Actually, I haven't. I got a bit annoyed about the same comments playing over and over again and I didn't find the story so great that I just had to see the end. With annoying gameplay and a mediocre story I simply can't see why I should play it when I have so many better games going on right now (for example Mata Hari).
