Nah, The Nameless One got my vote. Planescape: Torment is one of my all time favourites.
  • edited August 2009
I went for Banjo-Kazooie. They're just an all around great duo, and one of the funniest of all time. Too bad Guybrush didn't make it.

Banjo looks like he should be on one of those generic cereals that comes in bags and gets called something like "Fruity Hoops." Creepy euro-trash character design at its worst.

I gotta go for Ulala of those choices.

EDIT: Of course I end up voting for the character in dead last place. People have no taste. SC5-2 is the greatest.

Frank West all the way. He's covered wars, y'know.

He's in the 54 already selected by Gamespot staff. This vote is for the last 10 spots before the tournament begins.

    I voted for Ben.

I love Full Throttle and all, but I love Banjo-Tooie way more. And Larry Laffer isn't even in my top 50 favorite heroes.

EDIT: Though I just noticed the Apprentice from Force Unleashed in there, Starkiller, and he's pretty good at serving a lightsaber sandwich. In other words, he's a badass.

How in hell is the Apprentice in joint 1st, both Travis touchdown and JC christing Denton are in there
  • edited August 2009
The only ones I've actually played are Larry Laffer, Ben and JC Denton. Out of those three I'd have to say I enjoyed Deus Ex a lot and would vote for JC Denton, although I can't be bothered to sign up to actually cast a vote ;-)

JC Denton is totally bad ass, even in Deux Ex: Invisible War where he's just a background character. It's a shame he's not going to be in Deux Ex 3.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOr8dln2c5k - "Sticks and stones!"

Ben is my second choice though. Maybe if there was another Full Throttle game it would climb my ranking list? Even Larry had 7 games (counting the one with the floppies missing, and not counting the newer games with Larry's nephew...)

Actually, I have played Maverick from Wing Commander before, but I just gave up Wing Commander 3 or 4 (with Mark Hamill - can't remember which one I have played) and never completed it because I kept dying lol.

And the only other ones I have even renotely heard of are Dirk from Dragon's Lair, Yoshi, Kirby and Ulala, although I've never played any of those games.

Agh, curse you, now I'm digging out my copy of Deus Ex again.

That vote saddens me. The Apprentice and Nathan Drake with the most votes? Terrible.

Yeah, that is pretty pathetic, just goes to show that most people on that site haven't played any games more than a couple years old.

This poll sucks. None of the greats are there. Ben was great and all but no way he was better than a lot of other adventure heroes (Guybrush, for starters). And no Gordon Freeman or Master Chief? (I don't like Master Chief, but tons do) This is a favourite game poll behind the scenes, not a favourite hero poll. At least that's how everyone's treating it.

Gordon Freeman, Master Chief, Guybrush and Manny already made it in due to staff picks: http://www.gamespot.com/greatest-video-game-hero/heroes/index.html

Yes, but they're not among the finals is my point. Or are these the finals? Unless I mistook it and they're doing it tournament style.

Anyone remember the huge best video game ever poll that went down a few years ago? Half-Life and Halo ended up going head to head. Half-Life won. Rightly so.
  • edited August 2009
Hmm, I'm torn between Abe and Raziel. Two of my all time favourite series of games. I would very much like to see more games like them.

It is a tournament. 54 already picked by staff, this first vote is just for the last 10 spots.

    I dunno, Nathan Drake's pretty cool ):

I'd probably have voted for him if I didn't have to make an account there.

No kidding! But hey, FT discussions tend to lure me in. Something to do with magnets. ;)

(A new Monkey Island doesn't hurt much, either.)

I'd have voted Ben if you didn't need an account on the site to vote. He's the only one on that list I'm familiar with!

(I've seen Planescape:Torment and Leisure Suit Larry played by other people I know but haven't tried them myself)
