The Witcher 4
Already there are rumblings that CDProjectRed are working on The Witcher 4. It is no surprise that this was going to happen sooner than later, sooner being subjective as an open world RPG takes years to create.
With W3 seemingly finishing up Geralt's story, it does open the question as to who or what the protagonist will be.
3 Possibilities present themselves.
Geralt picks up his swords and embarks on another potential trilogy. It would be the easiest thing for CDPR to do. People love Geralt and are used to him. The downside...New Witcher Books are happening...so there is a reluctance to do anything that may totally go against the new stories.
A protagonist you create via character creator like Skyrim. Easy because you do not have to fit a backstory that is as detailed as Geralt's into your story...gives you more freedom. Downside...people actually took to having a backstory for Geralt and appreciated that being a Witcher known as the Butcher of Blavikan carries some baggage that makes you a little feared or hated. Plus...it is called the Witcher..you are going to be a witcher and hunt monsters.
Geralt's biological child. Wait what? Witchers are sterile I hear you say. True enough..but is Geralt? In the Witcher 2 there is a quest where someone wants to test a potion on you. Nothing seems to come of it. In Witcher 3 Heart of Stone dlc...you can find a letter in the courtyard of Oxenfurt academy...the gist of the letter is this. The academics were interested in curing sterility and tested a mutagenic potion on a white haired witcher in Flotsum(the town you took the potion in W2) The academics stated that the only way they would know if it worked is if children were conceived...but given how much the Witcher visits regular humans in bothels there could be plenty of offspring. And then there is Shani...one of 3 women Geralt truly cares about. A redheaded Witcher may be the outcome.
I am excited for W4...but I want them to take their time with it.
What do you guys want to see in a new Witcher game?
Comments
As much as I love Geralt, I think his story is over and he deserves to retire. He might make a cameo here and there. In my ending, he has retired to a quiet and comfortable life with Triss, so I prefer it that way.
I am open to a new protagonist. I think being a Witcher who has just finished his training and ready to establish his reputation in this dark medieval world is quite interesting.
lol if that was the name of the game...I am sure sales would double.
Endings clear Geralt's story summarizing your choices and telling a further tale based on them, specifically saying what happened after W3. The only way for CD Projekt Red to pick up this story is to continue Ciri's, which I guess won't happen because the ending in which she's dead (or gone).
If you want to see more Witcher I highly recommend the books.
I want a way to drive the imperial scum away from the north, which i know you can do, but i couldn't kill Ves, Thaler or Vernon. I can honestly say that it was one of the most difficult choices i have ever done in a game, i fucking loved Dijkstra.
But seriously what i want is a witcher similar to Geralt ( i would have nothing against him returning ) relatively stoic and uncaring, the typical witcher. With the possibility for him to develop emotionally if i chose to do so. Plus the normal, political intrigue, cool monsters to kill and great characters. Everything i know CDPR will deliver.
But right know i want more news about cyberpunk 2077.
I had to read your comments a few times to see it...
Man, I loved Dijkstra too! That choice sucked so hard!
What I really want is Ciri being the protagonist. In the Witcher 3 I always found myself wishing I was playing as Ciri. Though it seems unlikely given her endings. A new protagonist seems the way to go.
She is too powerful.
This is true.
Yep, i usually don't have a problem killing of or seeing characters die to achieve what i want, but that shit was hard. Unfortunately not standing by him made the opposite happen of what i wanted to happen. But as i wrote, i couldn't kill Ves, Thaler or Vernon.
It's a impactful choice for the player, and i would not want to have it any other way.
It could follow someone completely unrelated to the plot of the previous games. There are completely different continents, completely different races, and completely different witcher schools. There is a hell of a lot they could do using the Witcher universe.
Aw, screw the game. Watch the movie! Witcher will never be the same...
I have the feeling I seriesly missed something by not finding Dyjkstras treasure.
Wow they started working on it allready? this news alone just made my day but I'm ok if we play as a new charecter but at one condition to have a connection to garelt and Ciri but why do I have a feeling the winner will be Ciri mmmmmm
It's not news, it's rumors.
Hope they're true then
You can't find the treasure on your own, if you let Triss be tortured, you can get information from Menge and give that to Djikstra together with the key. Djikstra is grateful and gives you some help before the battle of Kaer Morhen, money and crafting material if i remember correctly.
He can also help you save Dandelion.
Oh ok thanks
Yes he can, but help to save that insufferable peacock is not something i value that much. I consider Dandelion to be Geralt's somewhat slow little brother, that now is priscilla's problem. He sure as shit did not deserve her.
Is it ever confirmed that she is dead in the bad ending? because otherwise they could just canonize it that she didnt return to Geralt because she didnt feel loved, and then continue the story from there, since Geralt and Ciri split up no matter what.
I would personally like a game that had Ciri as the protagonist, both because I absolutely adore her character, as well as the fact that I feel like it would be hard to not already tread on ground we have already covered if we just play as another Witcher, but with the implications of being a child of elder blood, there is alot more different scenarios that could be explored
lol duplicate
Eh, I would imagine that Ciri wouldnt just run around using her elder blood powers, frankly I found it weird that you could even use them in Witcher 3, its not like you want to run around shouting "Hey look at me! I have elder blood", I would love to see a game focused on Ciri, but where you can only use her powers in story moments as a choice, sort of like, using your powers will help you do something easier, but it might bring attention to you, which could mean trouble later
You're velcome.
I think playing as Ciri could be interesting, with a witcher we would partly just be treading on already explored ground, but playing as Ciri, there would be the complications of whether to use her powers at the risk of bringing attention to herself, or not doing it and having a harder time doing some things, I think being a child of the elder blood could be interesting, it would be interesting to have different routes to take, like do you wear a hood at all times to be more anonymous, or do you flout your powers left and right, and get hunted?
I also think it would be interesting to play as a nonwitcher, as well as the fact that Geralt was a very famously known Witcher, as well as the fact that he was a Witcher made everyone know who he was, whereas you could play the anonymous card with Ciri and have noone know who you are
Same here.
I suppose they could say she lost most of her abilities when she destroyed the white frost...but I dunno...if she is in it at all...it would be as the Empress of Nilfgard.
Too fucking true! And Poor Priscilla...that entire quest was fucked up.
I would assume they would just pull a Telltale and join all the endings together in the first act (albeit probably do a better job, since its CDProjectRed), and somehow have Ciri not being the empress, and not being dead, since Ciri doesnt seem like the kind of person who could tolerate sitting in a political chair for more than 5 minutes
Then do not kill Radovid....the North wins...and you even get a little taste of what life is like under him by going back to White Orchard you can find that nice herbalist that you gave the swallow potion to being attacked by witchhunters. I would prefer life under Niflgard to a ruler that kills anyone associated somehow with magic.
I failed to kill Radovid, not sure what I did to end that questline, or maybe I overlooked something, I remember attending some meeting about assassinating Radovid, and then nothing happened after that
Burn all the mages in hellfire. No but seriously i like how Emhyr treats the mages, hard but fair. Even if i must admit that i'm somewhat allergic to mages, i have always been no matter if it's games, books or movies. With certain exceptions of course.
I know that Radovid wins the war if he is not killed, but i wanted to help Vernon and the others. Plus i needed to do that quest to get the platinum trophy.
I liked Radovid in Assasins of kings, a cruel bastard, but i like those kind of characters, but in the wild hunt he had turned into a unreasonable nut job. His mental health had deteriorated quickly in six months.
Witcher 3 was my most favorite game. I feel the ending in blood and wine for geralt was awesome. Its best to allow geralt to rest and let a new witcher take the protagonist role if there will be a witcher 4 .
I do not mind the child of ciri or a godson of geralt taking the new role .
They better let Ciri be the main protagonist in the next game. Just imagine using her power to travel through different worlds...
That movie gave me cancer!! All kidding aside....it is pretty bad. Somehow I think HBO might do a better job.
Could have Ciri undergo the trial of grasses and get her mutations...
Nice to see Witcher fans...I think we can all agree that no matter what, we just want them to take their time and do it right.
I don't think she's dead but Geralt definitely does.
Ciri is too powerful to be defeated by an occurrence like the White Frost, if she was fine to travel between worlds and dimensions she could've easily jumped ahead to save herself, even unknowingly. In the worst scenario, Ciri would be trapped in some strange world which would prevent her from further travels. Judging by her inability to fully control her power, she could've gotten hurt, as she was exposed to such a destructive source of energy. She might've lost her memory like Geralt, but I doubt she's dead.
Ciri tends to escape danger by jumping to another world, she's done it in the books and multiple times in the game. She's successfully traveled to our medieval times when she was a little child and she's managed to do it despite being panicked and scared. I don't see the obstacle restraining her from doing it again - now when she's older and more experienced - however the only uncertain thing is in which world she ended up and will she ever come back to see Geralt.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a Witcher 4 in the makings. Witcher 3 was so damn good, it won GOTY awards left and right and set the bar on many video game standards. However I wouldn't mind if 3 was the end. The last DLC was a good farewell to the series. Although, Geralt is the focus, but there are many witchers in that big ol' world CD created so who knows.
This movie - which actually is a TV series - is the disgrace to my country.
