The trailer ring (some spoilers!)

Hey! That looks just like the big diamond ring Guybrush took from the Goodsoup's tomb! You know, the one with that "pure love significance" issue that was able to defeat LeChuck's curse.
(sorry, had an attack of Wally) :p

What do you think about it? I have a hunch it's gonna be fairly significant: Elaine always does things for a reason.

First of all, since that ring IS Elaine's wedding ring, so yes, this is the same an the blood Island ring from CMI.

while a reference thing would be pretty cool, doing the whole ring deal again is far too cheap. If I wanted that, I'd play CMI again.
The Blood Island rings powers lied in the fact that is was PURE, nothing more, nothing less.
It didn't break LeChuck's curse, it broke the voodoo rings curse. The ring was just part of LeChucks stolen loot.

but you will probably will have to use it to cut something or to redirect lights or something.. It will be usefull and needed, but i doubt that it will be significant

About LeChuck... didn't the Voodoo Lady say something like: "LeChuck's curse curse is a very powerful one... fueled by his anger and his intense frustration in dealing with the opposite sex.

I doubt they'll use much of its backstory, since ToMI is pretty much self-referential. However, I'd love Minnie Goodsoup to be mentioned. She was one of my favourite parts in CMI. And come on, she was LeChuck's girlfriend for a short time, even if only for his personal gains! :p

And besides, that would be MIGHTY silly, if Elaine gave it to Guybrush just that he can cut something. She must have something in mind, or else, that'd be a downright bad example of botching the storyline.

ooh, indeed.... one of the inconsistencies in the plotlines.

Wally says: "isn't that the cursed ring from LeChuck's hold" (indicating that it isn't cursed by LeChuck).

nut hey, this is NOT that ring... it is the uncrsed one... that is what counts.

That doesn't necessarily imply it WASN'T cursed by LeChuck. Wally just says that it's cursed and LeChuck had it in his treasure hold. The source of the crse remains unmentioned.

you got a point there... but still the current ring Elaine has, is the uncursed ring.

Yeah. Still, it would be stupid, if Elaine just gave it for no reason. Maybe the whole LeChuck affair is not finished? It may be that Guybrush needs a proof of his marriage or something...

Just like the first teaser gameplay footage of chapter 1, This could be slightly edited and turn out to be a bigger cutscene in the final game. Guess we find out tomorrow :)

i think thats elains fairly sucky way of breaking up with guybrush. cause of that gentleman mr "chivalry" lechuck. thats why she had to leave so quickly. she probably would have texted if that was an option. :P

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's not final because the animation doesn't look as good as it did in Chapter one's gameplay, but whether or not it's just the animation that's unfinished I don't know.

Edit: Also, regarding the ring's role, I think it'll just be that Guybrush loses it somehow and has to get it back to avoid Elaine being mad at him (she does put a lot of emphasis on "don't lose it" in the trailer). That'll probably be an important part of the chapter.

But where did his wedding ring go in the first place? He had it in Episode 1 didn't he? Maybe the pox dissolves it or something..

He did have it in Chapter 1. The ring's fate is made clear in the events of Chapter 2.
