Did anyone else just dislike Volume 4 of RWBY

I love RWBY: when I first watched it I hated it but I gave it 5 more tries it turned out I just hate the first 4 episodes untill I watched Volume 3 it made me like S1 way more XDDD.
S3 ended on this big cliffhanger and I was hyped for S4 and... Well that was underwelming.

  • The story's where all over the place which would've worked if the episodes were 30 minutes each or so.
  • The story feels sometimes inconsistent because of the pacing and editing
  • Unnecessary things like: Episode 3 there was this big fight on a ship and Sun was acting like a damn jedi in his robes. The fight could've just not happened and Sun had hardly any reason to me to stay hidden so much from Blake hell when he got of the ship he could've revealed himself BUT HE WE NEED TO PUT OUR NEW GRIM IN IT!
  • I found the music not so memorable this time around or was that on purpose because of the theme of the season?
  • Ruby, Jaun, Nora and Ren decided to go on foot instead of using a car... A motor... Or a bike whatever because reasons.
  • The fight style is soooooooo different now and I don't like it because the power levels look different now

This was gonna happen probably after Monty's dead but uh.

  • So Cinder put a virus in the Beacon Tower and lore speaking all towers are connected... What if all robots turned evil is this a over sight or am I thinking to much?

  • God's exist and this is mind blowing for the characters like world changing this could turn fate's of humanity but the characters don't seem to ask much about it and why does the Grim attack the humans (look I haven't seen Volume 4 in a while and just don't care that much)
  • The end fight was... Qrow just got hurt in my eyes not only to show his semblence but also not to fight the Grimm because the fight would be over in seconds. Jaun has a new trick with his sword which isn't even impressive at all and after defeating the monster A FLYING DEUS EX MACHINA out of the sky and takes them to a save place.

There was a bit more and it made me lose interest but I watch the series again:)
I hope S5 is better

I liked it, but it felt more like setup than anything else.

I honestly thought it was a nice break from the endless bloodshed in Volume 3 (only one episode didn't have a fight in Volume 3, but that episode ended right before a fight so I guess it doesn't count).

My only major gripe with Volume 4 was Blake. Her arc could be summarized as:

    • "I'm not going after the WF."
    • Sun gets slapped.
    • "I'm still not going after the WF."
    • Sun gets slapped again.
    • "I know I just said I won't go after the WF, but let me just chase after Makoto (Ilia) real quick."
    • Sun gets seriously injured.
    • "Screw it, I'm going after the WF! :)"

Blake's arc was a thing that happened, and Miles/Kerry let it happen.

That aside, I thoroughly enjoyed Volume 4.

  • Well after the chaotic end to volume 3 I think they needed to pull on the brakes a little and calm things down a bit. It wasn't bad, I really liked it actually as Ren got a lot this volume and it really made him grow on me. We got to see Salem's inner circle, and Oscar was introduced. I really enjoyed it though I can tell there's a lot of set up for the next volume, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I will say that I'm disappointed with Yang's character arc, I expected more and to see her develop but all that happened was "Aww, look how much Yang's life sucks... Oh look! She's back to normal!" Not to mention that it seems that she's just gonna reunite with Ruby when it'd be so much more interesting if she went after Raven.

  • The arguement for "it's changed because monty died is stupid. Monty had plans written himself for upmost of 10 volumes." For the story aspect anyway, obviously animation would change, it would even change if he were still around. 1 - 2 - 3 there were noticable differences anyway.

Well S4 lacked something, but it was important for moving the plot forward. Even if it was a little.

My main problem was Blake's arc. The whole thing was stupid. Very poorly written and felt completely out of Blake's character. As well and Sun just being there, Blake didnt even mention her friends for nearly the whole season till the end. As well as her reason for running away is stupid. Just cliche and boring.

At least Yang had some delevopement and is now on the move.

The bloody opening showing these villains who have like 2 fucking lines each for a whole volume, talk about a waste
