    Contains spoilers!

im actually a bitt surprised that tha vast majority of this board think the puzzels were better this time. i mean, 3 of the puzzels were solved by finding a coupon and redeeming it. a 4th coupon was used to strongly suggest what you would use one of the later coupon for. and two of the coupon was placed straight where you needed them. Like:
"oh, Le Chucks key is missing a pearl... well, what have we here? a coupon for oysters! placed two feet away from le chuck"
    and
"hmmm i wonder how i fish in this fishing well... hmmm, a coupon for fishing bait, placed straight on the well!"
    then the
    crowbar
was palced inside the chest, atleast let us find that somewhere else, insted of just picking it up and hand it to le chuck.

i think the puzzels in ep1 was much more sattesfying and well tought trough. if ep1 was like ep2, you would have found a coupon for black ninja dave and clame it in stead of making a black ninja dave from things spread around.

also, again, im in the minority here, but when i
    melted the pyrate parrot
i was happy to get rid of it... and then in the end, im stuck with it again, wich was so annoing it was almost kind of funny.
then things just pop up in strange places, like the
    coal
    ?
they could have found a much better place than that it just suddenly appeard
    under elaine
    ?

don't get me wrong. i like the story, i love the fact that im playing a new monkey island! its FAR better than EOMI, but i definitely enjoyed episode one more, and as i said, find it strange that most of you guys enjoyed episode 2 more for its better puzzels(?)... personly i hope episode 3 has more puzzels like episode 1 had...

HAhah yah, the coals were really the icing on the cake.

I lift Elaine off of the library wall, where she was never standing and had no reason to be standing, only to find 3 small hot coals which are magically on the ground. So I use my bucket on them and all of a sudden I have a bucket full of coals which I can place in the ever so conveniently placed BBQ in the middle of the forest that is identical to the one in the first episode that uses a switch from a hot tub to turn on. It's so ludicrous it is almost funny as a joke in and of itself. What utter trite, just garbage writing.

Why would the BBQ need the coals if it became hot enough to melt GOLD? Do you know how hot something has to be to melt Gold? Having hot coals present (and 3 of them, at that) is akin to me eating a watermelon seed and having every orifice in my body immediately sprouting full size watermelons.

A lot of good criticism in this thread, IMO.
