OK it's August 20th, where is it?

Ok so I stayed awake until 12:30 PST on August 20th to play monkey island chapter 2, and it is nowhere to be found, what gives?

Mod edit: It's out (very) soon. US Pacific Time is the standard for Telltale. Please post your timezone angst in this thread: http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11427

Ah yes... someone else expecting a midnight release... seriously, it wont be out till after 10AM pacific time.
  • edited August 2009
I know but I thought that it would be ready and just released on the day like a movie or any other game. Do they physically have to do something today? Does that men it wont be out until later on today?

    office hours happened...

Someone has to get it online, it's still the 20th for 23 hours (and several minutes)

We should seriously knock this crap on the head after last month.

If you're European don't expect it til tomorrow tbh.
  • edited August 2009
They sounded like it might be a midnight release because of the (PST) note.

Probably they are working out some issue still...
  • edited August 2009
hmm, I guess I just thought it would be released like a movie, you could wait at the store it was already there and as soon as the clock struck midnight it was yours.

Chapter 1 arrived like around midnight. It was the first launch though, the game should be up n running 16-23 CET.

I agree Kolgax, they should have put a time down if the release wasn't until office hours...why tease us with the PST? Also will it be out for the Wii as well tomorrow?

They mean it will be available at any time on the 21st by PST, they never specify a time. Have people really not understood this yet?

what time did chapter 1 come out?

It certainly wasn't midnight PST, I think it was closer to the 22nd if I remember correctly.

hmm, well sucko, I guess it's bed time for me then, and hoipefully it will be there when I wake up. Does anyone know if the release will be on the Wii tomorrow too?

No chance. Usually 2-3 weeks later.

The first chapter was late due to some database errors or something, though, so you can't really count on that...

Yeah, but Wallace And Gromit Episode 4 was released late as well, so it's quite common.

It takes a lot of time to cram the game to a 40MB size limit:D

This is news to me. I shall inform my university at once! I fully expect deadlines to be moved forward to incorporate my new sleep allowance.

But I'm not going to tear down the walls untill tomorrow. I learned my lesson last time where we started to riot at 12.

    No, it didnt.

Well, I don't know about you, but I downloaded mine at midnight cet. So, yes it did.

But they work according to PST, so you probably got it at midnight the following day it was supposed to release (as it was released very late on the day than it was supposed to). Stop trying to spread misinformation, there's going to be enough screaming as there is.

Yes, not midnight PST which is the time zone the releases target.

I have to admit that I did think there was a possibility - after all the hoo-hah and fuss last time - that they would play it safe with this one and plan to release a day *after* the game was considered 'ready' but pull the trigger on the release at midnight to alleviate the problems that came about beforehand.

Sure, game designers need sleep, but IT guys don't. Natural light makes them shrivel up; spending time in a deserted office at midnight swearing at something that Just Doesn't Work is, frankly, their natural habitat.

They love it really. And you're suggesting we take that away from them?

The time in Los Angeles. I expect them to release around mid-day PDT.

Actually I would be willing to bet that they are up now... working on some last minute tweaks on the game (or at least a handful of people, probably not the whole office)

TBQH I think they work on the games right up the the last minute, the version you play is not even 10 minutes old when it hits their servers...

You really think the game is done right now?... just sitting around, waiting to be released?

If that's what you think, then you really don't know Telltale. ;)

And now we are breaking the servers again. At least, it looks like we might be, couldn't access the forums there for a while and got an error page when trying to access the website itself, so calmers people!

The review version is allready out, so if they're still working on it, it is indeed tweaking, but the episode must be finished allready as a whole.

Yes, I'd like to second the motion that we should be calm and not overload the forum servers, by writing this unnecessary post :P

Exactly! How am I going to flood the forums if everyone else is already doing it? Geeze people, think about my needs before you post! ;)

    That's why I wrote CET.

I think the "(pst)" indication was meant to say "this is our time zone, so don't start whining as soon as the clock hits midnight"

While I agree, the fact is that people here - myself included - waited until midnight *PST* before starting whining :-)

Most likely because people threw a fit when it wasn't specified last time.

It think the games come out during office hours because of technical support or something. I remember something like that.

Whatever, it's clear you didn't mean PST now.
  • edited August 2009
Well, got another 20 hours or so before it's not released on 20th (PST)
  • edited August 2009
until midnight the day before (6th July) the launch of the previous chapter (7th July)... I knew it wasn't going to be a midnight release and that, even if it was, it would be midnight on the west coast of the US which is a fair few hours later than it is here in the real world.

I even stayed up a few hours, for reasons I just don't understand.

Eventually I resigned to bed with the intention of downloading the game when I wake up, by which time Californian office hours should have resumed.

However the TTG site kept going down all day, presumably because of immense traffic. It was still having problems after midnight of the launch date (now July 8th) and it wasn't until the next morning I was able to get onto the site and download the chapter.

Now I can sympathise with any technical difficulties on TTG’s end... But I would have thought they'd have at least given us an approximate time, this time, for those of us who'd be around on the launch date asking "where is it?"

Even if it's in PST, (which I'm convinced isn't a real time zone so much as a device for confusing foreigners); if they’ve updated their systems to cope with the strain of immense traffic then couldn’t they just give us a time with the date? Even if it’s just an approximation.

Sorry if I sounded more bitter than I am, sometimes things I post seem like more a complaint than I ever intended them to be.

calling wales "the real world" and PST not an actual time zone will do that to you;)
