Well you have to sign into your telltale account in game. Then you should sometime get an email from sky bound for free comic downloads. I think that's how it works don't take my word because I haven't really done this but a friend of mine has.
I think you have to click on the "Get Free Comics" ad in the game, and it should send you a code of some sort to your email (if you have linked your email.)
I'm not so sure myself, as I haven't tried it yet, but that's what I assume from other comments posted about it.

You can try the Comixology app. But the free comics usually tend to suck. Stuff like Walking Dead, Fables, or Ultimate Spider-Man you gotta pay for.
I mean I bought twd 3 2 days ago and it says "Free comics are waiting!"
