I'm Aeterna and I approve this message.

@Will: Since you're in Sausalito you should drop by the giantbomb.com offices at some point, perhaps join the bombcast. that'd be great. :)

    Done!!
Felt considerably shorter then the first, and lot more straight forward.
    LeChucks Character is Fuuuuuuuunnnnnyyyyy!
Lets hope number 3 is packed with more, Cliffhanger not as enticing either...

    Still great play-through though!
Now to count the days until chapter 3... :D

Oh, for you people who played through the press version last week, you might want to poke around the new version. You'll probably be surprised by some of the aesthetic changes.
  • edited August 2009
Of course!! I preorder the game a several time ago, and maybe this weekend will be the best time to play the final version. Too much work this week with the GamesCom:(:(

Finished it, after three hours. Sure, it was slightly shorter than the first episode...but wow, I think it actually topped the first one, too.

At this rate it could be the best Monkey Island yet - it's certainly the most adventurous/epic so far.

Clever puzzles (I *loved* the 'hint' one), constant laughs (with maybe a few dry points at the beginning, but that was all for plot development so it was fine), and it's starting to set a much darker tone for the series. Brilliant stuff!

*Edit* Oh, and I don't think I rushed through the game. I tried to explore every dialogue tree and use every item on everything - but I'm bound to have missed stuff.

I am too busy laughing at the Use...Seahorse thingy....yourself...joke to finish the game
  • edited August 2009
Well I've stopped playing now because I don't want it to end yet. I may even start it again before I finish it.

There was a few moments where I've thought "I wonder what would've happened if I'd done that instead". So I might start again & at least I know there will be some new stuff I haven't seen yet at the end.

there's no rush like the rush of rushing through a game the first time! You never truly know a game until you've rushed it. Yeah, baby! I'm Usain Bolt! I'm Rubens Barrichello! Look at my cheeks wobbling up and down as I run in slow motion! Now come on! Give this contest a chance! And yeah, I know I allready lost. I just got on the raft and figure there's a lot more to go before I reach the finnish line :(

(yes, the Finnish line, somewhere between Sweden and Russia...)
  • edited August 2009
Just finished it in somewhere between and hour and a half and two hours:D

Wasn't really rushing through though, the puzzles just seemed a bit more simple. A few got me thinking, but a lot of the dialogue in the game helps solve things more so than the first chapter :)

Gotta say I loved the whole "LeChuck verb" thing. Don't wanna spoil it for people that haven't go that far yet :)

hmm, it really felt short...i tried getting stuck, but it wouldn't work..

..it looks pretty good though. some of these cutscenes are awesome and the new sunset-lighting creates a nice atmosphere.

i think my game is bugged and i have to restart. i have a tourtouse but suddenly when looking on roe island the big fish becomes a black screen with guybrush speech which would make sense if i didn't already have solved the puzzle with the singing fish.

I'm giving it a run through now, and in addition to the aesthetic stuff I notice one small but significant design change that I really appreciate. Time to go amend my review...

Can't wait for the next one!

Just finished the game, great ending :D
Big creature thingy eating our dearest two pirates :(, and Winslow :D

Just finished the game, and it was jawdropping, literally, at at least two points. It did FEEL shorter but I'm quite sure it wasn't.
Just like in the first episode the puzzles give you a 'go me!' feeling and always same to make sense too, love it!

    Done!!

Am I the only or is just the experience on graphic adventures that makes it so easy? I mean, ok, thats nice because everything is kindda logical and all that stuff... but I was stucked just 2 times (and was because I didnt find the items I need it (container for the burning rocks and item that makes it on))

Well, is funny, long or short... dunno, always too short because we wait so long for just 4 hours of gameplay... but man! I want something more changelling (that no means for illogical, ouh how I hate that paradox from MI4...)

But, sure I enjoyed the episode... when is coming next? September? only twelve days for it... lol!
  • edited August 2009
Took like 3-4 hours, no hints obv. Was stuck a bit because I tried one thing twice so I wrote it off, while the solution actually was to do it in another way. A bit weird solution but whatever.

    Finished the game!!!
Again 10/10 TTG great game and always hungry for more!!!

Wasn't to hard to figure out most stuff...
  • edited August 2009
Just finished. Didn't want to, but couldn't stop myself from playing to the end... It's simply epic. Great work, TTG.
and the biggest surprise was that Guybrush lost his hand - but he looks great with the hook

(Note: I'm not going to bother putting spoiler tags in this post, since this is a thread about finishing the game)
Just finished it up. What an amazing episode, so enjoyable! The sword fight was so epic (a word I'm stealing from another thread), the quick camera changes kept the pace fast and exciting. Brilliant job. The Merfolk island was so atmospheric, the graphics really shone here with the lighting and the blurs. I liked that there were lots of different islands for you to visit, but it's a shame they were all quite simplistic in nature, but I appreciate they were there to try and mix things up. The recycling of pirates didn't seem as bad as I thought, but you can still tell that they're made up of the same parts. Really shouldn't be like that for the prominent ones. Also wasn't that keen on whole jungle thing again, but glad that it wasn't a solid focus of a puzzle. Human LeChuck was hilarious, the whole use/look/etc exchange with him was great. Winslow was great too, he dropped some great lines. I take it the third episode is going to take place inside the leviathan with an ending like that! I also suspect that Morgan LeFay might turn over to the 'good' side...

I couldn't pull myself away from the game. Very addictive and satisfying. I spent about 4 hours on it, taking my time and trying everything. Better than the first chapter. I can totally wait patiently for chapter 3 because I got my fix from chapter 2. I will play through again once there is a things you never tried thread, although it might be a short list for me. Anyway my brother has been wanting to play, guess I'd better let him on now. I hope the Spoon Island treasure hunts arrive soon.

Great episode!!! Loved every minute of it, too bad it was as short as the first one. Some great puzzles as well, especially liked the LeChuck one. And again the wait begins. Suppose with this one being released on 20th next will be out by the end of September, which is only 5 weeks away! Can't wait

Just finished a few minutes ago :-). Recycling a slight disappointment but used to it from Sam n Max and wasn't too bad, just the re-use of pirates and same jungle were annoying. A little short as well, took me just a few minutes over three hours. In fun terms though, extremely good and most amusing too :-). One enormous problem with the logic of one puzzle though.

This seemed Totally illogical to me. I tried to ask LeChuck to pry out the artifact and Guybrush said 'no way am I getting his help' so it seemed pointless to try and give him the crowbar. I then got completely side-tracked and tried everything to get the rubber tree as you could see down from the cliff and i was Sure I had to get the rubber tree to the pile of trees, fire the cannon at it, and the ball would bounce and smash the thing containing the artifact. I could even ask Anchovie or whatever her name was about getting trees. The only time i used hints in this episode, found them really Not helpful, he kept saying 'i should go and plunder more stuff', so i searched Everywhere thinking i might have missed something to pick up. Tried prying it myself again in desperation and Lechuck essentially said 'give me the crowbar to solve the puzzle'. I was really really disappointed with this one :-(.

Otherwise though the quality was first-rate, was most impressed! :D.

most puzzles are really made for 6 year old like the coupon which is needed for le chucls stick lying right there ...

Just finished about 10 minutes ago [and have been playing it since I downloaded it at 16:00pm UK time], and it was a very enjoyable episode!

Let me see, first off: The Voodoo Lady's laugh in the beginning was creepy... o-O

The sword fight was epic and Morgan LaFray is a coolio character too. One plus point about her for me is that she wasn't an old character I had to get to know [since I've only played SOMI:SE before TOMI, though I know the basic main lore of MI2-4].

Spinner Cay was neat too, and the music was memorable and better than Flotsam's [IMHO]. :)

Also I'm double glad that there was no Jungle maze puzzles this time and that it was easier to get through.

Human LeChuck was hilarious, but good lord was he smarter when he was dead. Lol. It was also great to see the interaction between him and Guybrush, it was almost brotherly-like at times. And the 'mask' moment was probably a sly MI2 reference, no? :p

I think LeChuck will have to watch out for Elaine, though. She was getting rather crazy very fast [and not even visibly infected yet]. And as the Pox Pirates get more infected, the more 'human' and 'good' LeChuck will get methinks.

And wow at the death and rebirth of our lovable Pyrite Parrot friend, I thought he was gone for good and then he came back. I was like 'yay'! :)

Finally, I can't wait for the duo's adventure's in the Leviathan [I presume Widslow will stay in what remains of the Screaming Narwhal throughout] - the dynamics will be very interesting! :D

Pyrite Parrot is the new Murphy.

Its the first time I've ever finished a game without resorting to a walkthrough for at least one of the puzzles.
Thoroughly enjoyed though even if it was a little bit short.
  • edited August 2009
Loved the chapter, from start to end...

I even had a sneak peak at chapter three... even more amazing.

It has Elaine and LeChuck visiting the Voodoo Lady to find a way to rescue Guybrush.
They have to find a map to sail to the end of the world, where they find guybrush in an endless sea of sand, having halucinations of an endless amount of versions of himself.

They rescue him and have to sail back to the sunset, but to escape the leviathan they have to topple the ship over right as the sun hits the water...

There you have it, Chapter 3 in just a few lines... wait... euhm... is that..... AAAAAAW.
  • edited August 2009
Just finished it. Winslow is currently in my top two of best characters this game so far. That and the Pyrite Parrot :D I was sad when you had to melt him (companion cube flash backs) but jubilant when he returned :D

    "But... I like the map!"
  • edited August 2009
Pyrite Parrot is the new Murphy.

I loved Captain Murphy! "Whatever you do, just keep the kid away from my stash..... Mustache!" or did you mean Murray?

Anyway, I just finished. Great game. A little short, but combined with the first chapter it's about 6 hours for me. If the others keep up the trend, the whole thing will be a 15 hour game, which really isn't bad.

I'd say this one was a lot better than the first. There was no skipping for me on the beginning scene, and Morgan is my favorite new character.
