Far Cry 5 - Not Very Hyped, Surprisingly...

Although I am an avid Far Cry fan, I am not too keen for the upcoming Far Cry 5 game that's coming out.

I feel like the religious theme in video games is starting to be used WAAAY too much! We have Outlast 2, which is actually a satanic cult (still religious elements) and there's bound to be other games I don't know about (and would be better off knowing) that have religious elements in it. And now, we have Far Cry 5.

The teaser poster is a parody (as I call it) of The Lord's Supper. There's a Bible, a church, a wolf with a Cross painted on it. Either we're dealing with another religious cult, or we're just dealing with religious-extremists.

I REALLY wanna look forward to FC5, but the religious element in it is a bit much...

Yep, Outlast 2 was a fucking let down.

  • It's not that it was a let-down; it was very interesting, but it was completely fucked up and a lot of people will think that that is what religion can be. Yes, granted, there are satanic cults in the world that do those sorts of things, but as far as I know, they deliberately worship SATAN and don't do things "In The Name Of God".

Outlast 2 gave us the knitty gritty truth about what cults can be like, but they really flew off the handle and gave more than what was needed. Outlast was gritty on its own, but Outlast 2 really cut loose and was all "fuck it, let's do it!" - walking over dead infants, hiding in barrels (literally) of blood, themes of rape, religious extremists galore...

    It was terrible

  • Well it wasnt extremely bad, but it sure as hell wasnt what I expected. Maybe a DLC can make a story, that surpasses the first game.

  • It looks like another FC 3 reskin. I just hope that new AC won't dissapoint, which it will.

  • Yeah, it's definitely a cult. Though not Satanic like in Outlast, but instead a bunch of redneck, god-fearing, probably racist, Christian nuts run by some preacher who's more than likely a major hypocrite in secret. Whether I'm excited for it, I don't know. Just judging from the poster, much of the antagonists look a bit cliche and not at all original. But then again, I am still somewhat interested to see what they do with the game.

  • I want a Far Cry where I can join the bad guys. I dont want to fight the bad guys all the time. Cant I be a dictators right hand man for once.

  • Well, TECHNICALLY, in Far Cry 4 if you waited at the beginning of the game, you go to Lakshmana with Pagan and you fight alongside him, although not in-game.

  • As a pretty big fan of the Far Cry series, neither am I.

After that shit they pulled with Far Cry Primal's map being a complete carbon copy of 4's, my reluctant feelings remain.

  • I'm interested to see WTF is up with that Wolf!

  • Naw, Far Cry 3 was different altogether.

  • I know this lil easter egg. But I wish they did it ingame. I hate those people I have to fight for. Pagan is so fab, Id like to join my uncle and kill those savages. :3

  • I'd like to point this out; what if Far Cry Primal, because it is the same map as FC4, what if that was Kyrat BEFORE it became, well, Kyrat?

I was a bit disappointed as well once I found out, but once I thought about it, it really made sense. Same forest-like layout and whatnot, same creatures (only they're prehistoric) etc.

I mean, yeah it could be ancient Kyrat but that's still kind of a lazy design. I feel like it could have been DLC to whoever wanted it as opposed to making it the full price of a game.

  • It was a pretty good trailer! But 8 months wait is a long time

  • Religions are all cults...just some have more than others...and they are all rife for videogame exploitation. Every religion has a dark side to it...The Spanish inquisition anyone? So I expect we will see more. Why has it not been a thing in TWD game yet..I will never know. If ever there was a subject that would work well with religion and extremists it is the zombie apocalypse.

I played far cry 3 and 4 but did not finish either of them. I also never bought primal because for some reason I didn't like the idea of it especially with just the whole game being a different language. But this game looks good and I think I should go finish the other far cry games because I barley know anything about the universe.

  • Sounds like a pretty pessimistic outlook

  • I read that the protagonist is a transgender Muslim who slaughters religious rednecks.

    Is this a joke?

  • fighting a hillbilly cult sounds fun imo

  • I'm tired of religious conflicts in movies, tv-shows, videogames and so on. I'd prefer something else to be honest.
But to those who like this.. have fun with it. :>

  • Looks sick as fuck tbh, shooting hillbillies is always fun.

  • Outlast 1 had a better story-telling, everyone knew what was going on in the asylum.

  • I don't think you do considering there's no blatant pandering in the game, it's a story about shooting people lke all previous games but just because the bullet sponges are white americans you're trying to spill political poison in thread that didn't need it just to sound edgy because you're a sheep and need to join bandwagons to feel like you fit.

It's pretty blatant considering how it's hitting all of the current hot button topics. Muslim, transgender, hatred against rednecks.

I didnt make this political, I asked a legitimate question about the premise of the game. You made it political by lumping me in with Donald Trump supporters. Must be nice living by such binary perceptions.

Honestly you're the one who is toxic af in every single one of your responses, from insulting my intelligence to presuming my political views to calling me a "sheep" without any real knowledge about me. My brother in law is trans, we supported him throughout his entire transition. I'm not some bigoted imbecile. The way you're coming at me is absurd. I hope you can work on your anger.

  • I don't really see Religious Cults/Religious Themes being a bad thing in game; I mean I am a Christian and have no problem playing a game with a Satanic Cult.

If it makes the story interesting, fun, and good, than I am all for it.
