    16:9 is 1920x1080.

Good Call, I was just going with the aspect ratio of my monitor, which I thought was 16:9. Thanks.

Chyron8472, Good stuff man. Thanks for keeping the thread alive. Testing is in full swing right now, so it will be a little bit till I can make anything :(

We can wait :). Is play-testing for Telltale the best job in the world?

Apparently game testers spend most of their time running into walls to see if you can't walk through them.
  • edited February 2010
I know that's supposed to sound annoying/boring, but in my blissful ignorance, I find that to be very amusing.
  • edited February 2010
Actually, it kinda sounds like fun.
Playing video games and pointing out other people's mistakes while getting paid? Best job ever!

I don't want to shatter anyone's dreams but Game Testing is not fun. It's not 2 dudes sitting in lazyboys Holding PS2 controllers plugged into a Mackie Mixer talking about "tightening up the graphics in level 2" and saying "I can't believe we get paid to do this". However working at telltale is Awesome! Enjoying work is just as much about the job as it is about the people you work with.

So what you're saying is that the nutrient-rich sludge the Telltale team uses at least doesn't taste horrible? Do you get...(gasp) TWO light bulbs in your cubicle?!

Hey, I seen that commercial. Those guys looked so 80's, too.

    Hey, you're right lol

it really is lame. I don't know when that commercial was made exactly, but I remember seeing on TV like 7 years ago and yet they look so 80's to me.
  • edited February 2010
Naw, they're more early 90's. Besides, those are PlayStation 1 controllers, and that came out in 1994.

Nice, I couldn't find the video. All my mis-information was from memory, and yes the sludge is decent, especially on Fri!

I once spent over a week doing nothing but that...with heavy overtime. I'll second Nick's comment and the posted comic. Testing, to a lot of people, is very much a "be careful what you wish for" situation but it sure beats a lot of jobs and being in an environment where people appreciate my goofy sense of humor makes up for the tough periods.

I worked as a QA some time and let me tell you: It's no fun at all, even if I get a really good offer for a great company (Like Telltale) I would decline the offer in a sec.

What I meant is they make it sound good (so... more competition), even when describing the horrors it includes.

I don't care what they say. I'd still like to be a tester but unfortunately 1) I don't currently live in America, 2) I have no right to live in America, 3) I don't have the money to get to America (let alone the Bay Area of San Fran) and 4) I'm rubbish at all kinds of art so I'd fail in most departments there! Pity the interest, pedanticism, eagerness and programming skills are going to waste.
  • edited March 2010
Remind me again; why do you need to be good in art for QA?

I'm on about testing and the Telltale Team have already said they require their testers to have good skills in the 3d modelling apps they use.

Yes actually every member of Telltale must be able to single hand-idly carry on the entire company in case everyone else were to die instantly in a horrible toaster accident.*:)

I imagine everyone around there is scared to make toast.

...for some reason, the After Dark screen saver "Flying Toasters" comes to mind:

Huh. Here's what it made me think of. If anyone around the Telltale offices makes toast like that, we might have something to worry about.

Strangely enough my telly supports 1,280 x 1,024 but it looks well skewed, so I don't use it. I'm disappointed it doesn't support 1,280 x 800, which would have done nicely for Ghost Pirates.
