I discovered something amazing in Shadow of Mordor

Basically, when I was fighting this huge army of Uruks, I was badly wounded and I fell to my knees and then an Uruk came and was about to finish me off.

But instead of finishing me off, the Uruk spared me and then he and his men walked away, taunting me while he does it. It's amazing how many times you can replay this game and you will always see something new happening.

  • The humiliator trait - does not finish of weak opponents. It's a little annoying trait because they don't level up, but it adds to the game.

  • You're missing out if you're not playing this game.

Basically, this game is like the Batman Arkham games but with swords and instead of gliding you have this elf ghost in your body that helps you use stealth better and helps you traverse the environment faster if you unlock certain skills.

This is a Lord of the Rings game. It takes place in Mordor. Which is like, where Sauron's Uruk army is.

The game goes deep into the Nemesis system. You can have a Nemesis and basically have this long hate relationship throughout the game.

Your Nemesis can kill you, you can kill your Nemesis. And if you do kill your Nemesis, there is a chance he can return to get vengeance on you, and vice versa.

You should look up more info about the Nemesis system, it's very interesting.

  • It's a good game, but if I were you, I would wait for shadow of war which is going to be 10 times more epic and it's only releasing in three months

  • Everyone seems to have good things to say about this one, I just never picked it up but now it's $20. The nemesis system sounds cool but like it could be frustrating. Are you able to make moral decisions as the main character or anything of that sort?

Well, yeah, kinda. You can be ruthless and mercy-less if you want. You can also be forgiving to the Uruks that you go against.

But no, the Nemesis system isn't really frustrating. I mean, yeah, after clearing out almost all of Sauron's army there will be new people who are recruited to Captain so the army fills up more.

But there isn't anything that'll make you throw your controller at the wall, though.

  • Yes you really should play the first one for the story. I just played it for the first time about 2 or 3 months ago. The story CAN and probably will be confusing. I'm still sorta confused on it xD but how it interact with enemies is just so different I was so surprised how it all played out. You can basically make your own story with the enemies and everything. Plus this new game that's coming out will have an even DEEPER system.

Do I need to play the first one for the story?

  • Oh boy, that brings back some memories. Just not from my playthrough. I watched a series on youtube by one guy and was tormented by this one Uruk who never talked, and just constantly near killed him, laughed and walked away. There were multiple times were the guy would leave one side of the screen and just walk in from other, ready to put him back down again.

That was certainly a good game, so I'm actually looking forward to the sequel. Hopefully a better final boss, or just a great war sequence to end it off.

Yeah, I liked this game, but not as much as many other people did. The nemesis system is cool, but since so many Uruks were easy to kill, were pretty similar, and I didn't notice their wounds from previous battles that well, I had a hard time remembering any of them, so if one came back from the dead, I barely noticed.

Though, it seems the upcoming sequel goes much more in depth with this, so it'll probably be easier to remember some of them considering I'll have my own army of friendlies who can interact more, and even more chances of memorable nemeses.
