Monkey Island in ToMI?

Do you want to see Guybrush go to Monkey Island again?

Personally, I would rather see some new islands. After all, MI2, which is the best one yet, worked perfectly well without Monkey Island.

Your thoughts?

I'm afraid we won't see anything else besides those already placed on the Gulf of Melange map. What isn't a bad thing, as there are quite a few of them and all nice and epic enough... but I'd like one old island, just for a treat... Blood, preferably :)

Well considering we've now visited all of these places on the map in just two episodes, it would be stupid of Telltale to stick exclusively to these islands for the next three. I'm sure there will be more new islands to come.

Lair of the Leviathan - inside the monster.
Trial and Execution - Flotsam (courthouse).
Rise of the Pirate God - ?

You think that the whole of the next episode will take place inside the creature? :D Or that episode 4 will be set entirely on Flotsam?:D

I would actually love to see some old ones... (blood, Plunder, Phatt, Scabb or Booty) if done corectly and not like the badly done Melêe from Escape.

Maybe if there ever is a season two
(since the huge succes of MI;SE and ToMI, I would find it strange not to get a season two)

Well seeing as Guybrush couldn't get to Flotsam again because of the winds in Episode 2, the only way he can get back to Flotsam is if De Singe opened the way. That must be how Le Flay got to Flotsam. I'm guessing that we'll be seeing the Rock of Gelato again. And don't forget, we still haven't figured out what that submarine device shown in De Cava's shack will be used for. I'm guessing we'll see some underwater locations.

Not sure about how possible it is now, but I'd really love to see some old islands in Tales. Just because at the moment it still feels somehow detached from the rest of the series (which I guess is to be expected after nearly a decade). Some familiar settings would help tie it back into the Monkey Island world and make it feel like less of a spin-off.

Man, Monkey Island has to be the last island you visit in the series.

If it isn't, I'll be very surprised.

Well yeah. Remember, we're guessing episode four will take place (at least partially) on Flotsam Island because of it being about a trial, and the fact that there's a courthouse on the island... So it seems logical to assume LeFlay will bring him back here, probably when they manage to get out from the leviathan or its lair.

    I agree with this.
Also, bring back Monkey Island. I'm sure Telltale will know a way to make it all interesting again.

From Chapter 2's ending and three's title we're clearly going to see some places not on the map, though not necessarily islands.

If you go with the CoMI continuity then the tunnels under Dinky Island lead to Monkey Island (which explains how Herman Toothrot rot gets to Dinky) where LeChuck's Carnival of the Damned is located. So Monkey Island WAS in MI2, also meaning that it has been in every game to date.

I believe by the end of ToMI, Guybrush will once again find himself on the mysterious shores of Monkey Island. (Also, I know far too much about Monkey Island to be considered a healthy human being.)

If Guybrush is going back to Monkey Island, it just has to be in a way that gets Otis there too. It's just too hilarious not to do.
Guybrush takes over a ship with Otis onboard and manages to sink it at the reefs om MI... or something like that.
Maybe Otis is inside the Manitee right now and everyone gets spat out on the shores of MI for some reason.

Speaking of the series canonocity... Did you notice that apart from the ultimate insult being part of the kaflu cutlass, they have almost entirely disowned MI4...

    Even when talking to
    LaFlay
in chapter 2, the events of MI:1-3 are recalled, but she never mentions anything about the ultimate insult, or Aussie Mandrill...

    Curious, isn't it? ;)

Anyways, the series is starting to shift away from the island itself, and more toward the characters... (as it always should have been) You can only use a place so many times before it gets old...

Also note the title, "tales of monkey island" they did not name it "monkey island 5"... that alone significantly disconnects TOMI season one from the island, and rest of the series (could it be foreshadowing a monkey island-less installment? time will tell)

Yeah, I was thinking that myself through both episodes.

Not sure about Flotsam, but someon of TT crew mentioned that in Episode 3 we will be exploring small area with lots of things to do - looks like the monster's belly for me : )
/or it's just that there's a fangame I'm waiting for, that's beggins in a belly of some seamonster and that misleads me -

Monkey Island was the most boring part of SMI and EMI. Seeing as we've done it - twice - there's no real need. I like the new environments and characters. I don't really see a need to dredge up a lot of them - Telltale can only use so many unique models. I'd hate to see a poor rendition for the sake of a callback.

Technically, there's no Monkey Island 3 or 4 either.
