The only game I've played this year that actually released this year is Mass Effect: Andromeda. Despite its flaws, which I was fully aware of since I bought it at release, I still had fun with it.
Best game I've played this year so far has got to be Until Dawn. The graphics were absolutely stunning, the suspense was gripping, the scares were chilling, this game was completely on point. I spent every second in fear that my next choice (mistake) would mean the death of one of my characters, and it was awesome.

It doesn't seem like there are many indie fans here. Anyway, the best game I've played this year is undoubtedly Hollow Knight. It's an absolute masterpiece imo.
Granted, I haven't played many new games this year. Prey is the only triple A game of this year that I'm interested in so far. I'll have to pick it up at some point.
Okay so I'm gonna divide this into two different category's because both of these games deserve to be on my list
Story Driven is Resident Evil 7 because it went back to the roots of the originals, Yeah there were some problems like No Fixed Camera angles or no Returning characters but Chris in it. But that was all fine IMO the first person approach was brilliant IMO.
Multiplayer wise is Friday The 13th: The Game yeah sure it had a ton of BUGS and Server issues but I've had tons of fun with it when it works.
It's the first RE game I've played to completion and it's fantastic. Great story, voice acting, graphics, atmosphere and it's legitimately scary (at least for the first half of the game).

With the release of The Nonary Games on Steam, I've finally gotten into the Zero Escape Saga. Truly great in my opinion.
