This. The only people who 'notice' these things are those who go looking for them...

Dude, it's right there.. It's like the castle from that poster of the Little Mermaid!

    Maybe that's the punchline......

But... How could you NOT notice it?

I think I'll better leave you to your grog...

lol you guys are being naive. :D

I played the episode twice now and I assure you I have a very dirty mind.
Didn't notice any phallic symbols anywhere...

And if there were any, it would not be uncommon for ancient runes anyway...

    Wow, just.. wow. lol.

Trust me, I didnt want to see it. It's just there. I think no one just wants to admit it. That's fine then.

    Ok, for argument's sake alone:
on the way to the bait shop, right before you enter the little cave walkway tunnel thing... That thing right there on left... Come oooooonnnn,,,,

I went back and looked for myself, and...I don't think I've had sufficient quantities of grog to see what you think you're seeing, Dr. Freud. ;)

LMAO I'm so sure. OK ok this thread is dead then, everyone is just too shy or something.. I don't see how that could have been an accident...

Or you guys are just messing with me..

Either way I'm done with this thread heheh. Back to me grog, then. :)

    I have to say...

You're not alone. And surely it can't be just two people that noticed it. (NOTE: I haven't looked at the forums between release and completion of the second episode. And completion was about 10 mins ago)
No issue to me though, long as it's Monkey Island it's all good.

I have a question for the Telltale team...

Has Al Lowe been consulted for this epi?

    I'm sure he'd approve. :D

    Yeah baby!

I remembered a conversation between a girl and a guy, like, she explained to him all those ridiculous reasons why shape of a rocket is phallic and all the hidden reasons it was built that way, to which the guy answered "Shit... and I though it was just more aerodynamic that way... stupid me..."

So anyway. I really don't see anything. Show me this rocket, encircled, and I'll tell you whether I see there something or whether I do not.

I think there are a lot more suggestive things in the game than that... So I mean I suppose it coulda been intentional...or unintentional...
Paraphrasing - GB looks at a hammock "I really hope those seagull droppings got there AFTER he left..."

"Nice Cans! Er..uhm I mean Nice Cans!"

    The Androgyny of the Merfolk...

"Nice Cans! Er..uhm I mean Nice Cans!"

Yeah, that's a hilarious one :D I liked it so much I even repeated that sequence a few times in a row.

I still don't get the phallic symbol thing though. Not that I'm shy or anything.
  • edited August 2009
can someone screenshot this phallic thing?
  • edited August 2009
I just looked back at the game real quick...I haven't gotten all the way through yet but I uhm don't really see it either. At least not a GIANT one.

Catfish are you talking about the thing at the base of the tower where Elaine and McGillicutty and the Merfolk leader were arguing?

    What about :

"... good for 24 hours" --- "I'm sure you are!"

Remember kids: if it's longer than it is wide, it's a phallic symbol!

and if not turn it on its side!

Oh I saw that and thought, why is there this big stoopid thing just sticking out of the water? You'd think these mer-men/women/whatever could have gone to some effort and carved it.

If you think it looks like a knob, I assure you, you must have seen some odd looking knobs before.

The working title for this episode was actually "The Siege of Spen0r Cay"

I laughed quite a bit harder than I should have.

Don't worry, I saw it too.

I think it's a mer-people thing. Or it's TellTale poking fun at The Little Mermaid.

Yeah, the episode was originally called "The Siege of Pen Island" but we changed it for obvious reasons.

I'm just amused about trying to figure out exactly which pillar it is.

I'm hoping it's not the lamp. Gents, if your pen0r is glowing, please get yourself to a doctor. ;)

"I prayed so hard for you. It saddens and hurts me that the two young boys whom I taught to believe in the Ten Commandments have come back to me [...] with filthy mouths and bad attitudes."

(yes, filthy minds would make more sense, but I can't just change a quote from the legendary Blues Brothers)
  • edited August 2009
Ok, with the picture I guess you mean the stuff at the far right?

I absolutely didn't notice it, and I don't think it was intentional. It could be, I guess, but I mean, it's just a bit of rock. It doesn't even have the shape of a penis. It's like saying that Obelix carrying menhirs is a phallic symbol of some sort, I just don't see it.

Isn't that the subtitle of the new Leisure Suit Larry that you're working on?
  • edited August 2009
I saw it, thought "noooo, couldn't be" and proceeded to ignore it for the rest of the game.
  • edited August 2009
... the uhh... 'head' is crooked. Imagining this particular shape as a phallic symbol would scare the hell out of me, to be honest.
