I am happy it is a woman...but honestly...I just want whomever it was...to be good....I have loved every Doctor except 6 and 7...Jodie is a really great choice.

Then I'll enjoy her. I have really mixed feelings I support but at the same time have a strong feeling they've only cast her for being a woman (btw I've never seen her in anything so I don't know to much about her acting skills)
Maybe now NuWho will finally have a proper male companion? One that doesn't travel with a female companion.
Also none of this love interest poop, Give me a Ten/Donna dynamic.
Don't understand people saying it shouldn't happen because 'it's a male character'. Firstly time lords can change gender, secondly, his personality changes pretty hugely between iterations, thirdly I don't know a single personality trait which is impossible for women to have.
She is definitely a really good actress...so no problems there...but for everything else...it is up to the writers to keep in mind that though the gender has changed...it is the Doctor and no matter what the Doctor is at her core...kind, intelligent and a bit dangerous.
I imagine one or two episodes they will have fun with the gender swap...I mean really how can you not? But if they remember that this is a Galifreyan who stole the Tardis and goes around helping those in need...then I think they will do well.

This is interesting. I think having a female can bring something new to the character, especially since the Doctor has been male in over 54 years.
Aaaw, I'm gonna miss Mr. Capaldi. He actually is my favourite doctor. I really love him. Let's see if Ms. Whittaker can live up to him.
