More inconsistencies

The Mer-Tool is immediately back in Guybrush' inventory after he falls off the cliff, even though he left it in the clamshell before he fell off.
After Guybrush has Anemone replace his mast with the rubber tree from Brillig island, you'll still see the rubber tree on the shore if you sail BACK to Brillig island afterwards
Chieftain Beluga gives Guybrush the pyrite parrot back, yet it does not show up in his inventory afterwards

I'm leaving out more frequently mentioned inconsistencies involving
doors, cannon balls and LeChuck.

:p   :D

I am hiding all of this in spoiler tags, but it's big:
We have a preexisting glitch where Guybrush acts as if LeChuck is still by the stationary cannon on the beach. If Guybrush looks at the cannon, he'll say his "I don't want to disturb him while he's got a cannon" line.

We have another preexisting glitch where, after using the fake turtle artifact with LeChuck, you can go back to the broken mold and retrieve another one.

If you put these two together (by using the fake artifact on the cannon), the whole section of LeChuck fighting the pirates and talking to Guybrush about Elaine's plan takes place again, only this time:

    * They are on the beach (forest visible during parts of the fighting though)
    * While LeChuck becomes visible again, the pirates he's fighting don't -- LeChuck is fighting invisible opponents (ghosts? :p )
    * Guybrush holds out his hand to show LeChuck he had the real turtle artifact, but since it's been turned into a ball by now, his hand is empty
    * After the end of their dialog, LeChuck stalks off
    * Wash, rinse and repeat indefinitely

Weird, huh? I do think this is the biggest glitch sequence so far.
Telltale: Assuming I was the first to spot this, can I be a beta tester now? :D

Well, I wouldn't call these inconsistancies, more like bugs and glitches.

    Hire this man.

I didn't notice any of these. I didn't get any glitches or anything as far as I recall.

A 'glitch' and an 'inconsistency' are pretty much synonyms in this context. And obviously, these are also bugs.

Since we're picking nits, there is no 'a' in "inconsistency." ;)

Yeah, well, at least I can defend myself by saying I'm not from an English speaking country. :)

i am not sure, if this could be considered an inconsistency. you usually carry more stuff, than what's really in your inventory, like a sword or a shovel. infact every pirate seems to have one by default.
anyway, i suppose the main reason for the parrot not to appear as an usable item is probably so you can't
    smelt it again
    .

    btw, is this even possible?
can you smelt pyrite and cast in another form? is actually more of a crystal than a metal, even though it looks like one. you usually can't do any casting with crystals, right? or is it possible in that case, because it contains iron?
well, not really an inconsistency either...i was just curious.

Actually I have not seen the report of the messed up LeChuck fighting cutscene (through use of the re-acquired fake turtle artifact) reported _anywhere_ till now. Good find!

Yeah, pyrite is actually a mineral, I'm pretty sure it doesn't melt.

    It's voodoo pyrite.

    Or pirate pyrite.

Only glitch I noticed was at the end (when I replaced my mast with the rubber tree and was about to get the pox pirate to use his cannon on my ship) that there was a cannon ball in mid air on my ship - u could walk straight through it - weird!

Well the thing had to be quite hot.

    Pyrite melts at 742 °C.

i looked that up as well, but just because it melts at some point, that doesn't mean you can cast it in a different form. wouldn't the heat destroy the crystal-structure and separate the sulfur from the iron?

on my second playthrough i noticed that this cannonball.glitch seems to be more than just the cannonball.
first, the cannonball sometimes dissappers if you trigger a cutscene, like firing the cannon.
then, in the same scene, i talked to winslow and behind him hung another cannonball in the air. a bit further away from the ship.
also, in some lines, there was a third object in the air behind guybrush. it looked like a gravestone or maybe a door. can't quite tell what it was, since it was quite small. so either it was far away or a little object to start with.

Where have people posted the entire thing? I've been reading the forums, and while I've seen
    the cannon glitch
    and the
    fake artifact glitch
mentioned before, nowhere did I see
the repeated LeChuck fight scene glitch
    . Please clarify.

This actually disappointed me. In the original game (Secret of Monkey Island), you had to FIND a sword and shovel before you had them available to you. It seems to me making you do that would've been an opportunity for more puzzles, not to mention that the pyrite parrot was visible in your inventory before. Why would an item arbitrarily be declared invisible?

Have you tryed using the cannon just after defeating McGillygutty on the ship? He's still there blocking your cannonball from an invisible ship!

Maybe they could have put the shovel in a no digging sign, as a reference to MI2. And the sword was on Ep. 1, so I agree with you here.

I saw it in a couple of complaints threads or did you try threads a few hours after release.

I dozed off while the mermaid said what I was supposed to do with the combined ball of artifacts, so I went back to spoon island and lo and behold found the fake turtle once again.

It didn't in the last scene of chapter 1 either. I'd say that was consistent.
