I found it completely unexpected, and totally exciting! Looking forward to Chapter 3 immensely.

Inside a giant manatee? Telltale are definitely taking the series to places it's never been before :p

If it is inside the monster it sounds like that part of Zelda Ocarina of Time "Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly"

    lol,

I hated having to carry that zora princess all the time, than having to back track if you dropped her somewhere she wasnt supposed to go.

I think it is great! And I can't believe there are already people complaining about that! Maybe they say that giant manatees are not canon to Monkey Island or that kind of nonsense.

What do yo mean by canon to monkey island?

my guess the big sponge is inside the manitee, i don't think it was a conincidence that guybrush got eaten the same time that he was following those weird turtles
  • edited August 2009
It most likely is taking Guybrush to the lair of the sponge as the mer-leader said that the creatures lead the way to the mouth and the sponge. The voodoo lady's lover is most likely in it too as he had a map for the path of the mouth, probably referring to manatee.

im guessing the 'path of the mouth' map in de cava's hut is maybe the path the manatee takes. im guessing de cava never found the golden artifacts so he never had the turtle things to show him the way so he found out on his own.but yeah im looking foward to being inside a giant manatee(thats what she said!) im guessing murray might appear :D

I'm sure the Leviathan (Giant Manatee or whatever) will go back to its lair which will be in some kind of underwater cave that has an air supply. Manatees are air-breathing mammals after all.
  • edited August 2009
I also think De Cava could be inside the Manatee, like Pinocchio's father, you know. Hopefully, we're not going to learn Guybrush is a son of his (and of the Voodoo Lady's as well )

We already saw Guybrush's parents in MI2. Twice.

So unless Telltale says "screw the continuity" like those hacks did with MI4, I don't think we'll be seeing any major parental-based discoveries.

I don't think the ending this time left much room for speculation, not as much as episode 1 did.

I don't have a problem with it at all but I will say i'm not particularly fond of entire settings taking place within giant creatures. It just makes them seem a little hollow...and less alive...some how it just doesn't work for me.

For those who have complaints about it not really being canon, I kinda understand. But then i'd say to those that you have to remember that MI 3 - Tales have all been very different to one another.

The world changes with the writers. So long as it isn't completely contradictory to the plot I don't see why anyone would have such a problem.

the manatee is used to GET to the sponge.... the map of the island the sponge is on is om hugh's belly...

    there is NO sponge in the manatee's belly for one simple reason;
Allthough the MI series never took itself too serious, a sponge in a belly of the beast would certainly mean the death of the animal... Telltalegames can't be that cruel even if it were to deny certain realities.

The manatee is just the vessel.... the Sponge will more likely be in "THE LAIR OF THE LEVIATHAN™"

I mean Monkey Island canon. The canon is something that is believed to be genuine to source material.

    Canon, not cannon lol

Steve Purcell dug up some old Monkey Island Concept art on his blog. Can you find the similarities?

Very much so - replace the serpent by a manataee and Elaine with Morgan. we can actually see something similar.

So you mean it being seen as a true monkey island game in lucasarts eyes?

He's definitely not in the Manatee:
you see his skeleton on one of the islands

    Why are people complaining?

One of my favorite parts of the monkey island games was when I'd progress to a new area. Getting eaten by a Leviathan, or Manatee, or whatever is definitely progressing to a new area.

I thought it was freaking awesome. It caught me off-guard and I LOVE the idea of Episode 3 (partially) happening inside the Belly of the Beast.

    MANATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

canon as in the events being part of what truly happens. for example (force unleashed spoilers)
in the end of force unleashed, you can choose to kill darth vader. as this obviously didnt happen, it is obviously not canon to star wars.

For me, it was one of those "so random it's awesome" moments.

Can't wait to see how chapter 3 begins. When I saw it happen on my screen I literally sat there and said, "... whoa!" It's just unexpected.

    I don't think that's him.
Why would the voodoo lady have someone get killed by a scorpion and THEN send Guybrush to find him?

I was wondering the same too to be honest. Then again, maybe she's killed so many people that way she just forgot she had done it, or didn't actually think her powers actually worked! :D

The fish is going to take them where they have to go I think. Look for Morgan Lafay to start meshing with the good guys in the next epidosde...
  • edited August 2009
I think that Guybrush and LeFlay will be forced to trust each other and co-operate to get out of the manatee which will result in a very funny episode! They'll both cast a lot of sideways looks at each other but I think by the end of the chapter LeFlay will be a new addition to Guybrush's crew.
