The trailer itself doesn't reveal anything plotwise, but the graphics are absolutely stunning!
Can't wait for this game! =) =) =)

Wow, they've got quite a lot of character models. Ahem.

Looks nice, hopefully it'll be good.

A Vampyre Story was very good, but it suffered from time to time with a poorly written dialouge and a rather linear storyline that ended a little abruptly

Ghost Pirates, though, has one of the scriptwriters from CMI on the team, and since it's not episodic like AVS, it'll have a beginning and a (hopefully) proper end!
Judging by the trailer, it looks like they're using live band instruments for the score as well.

Gameplay-wise, it will be using the same point-n-click interface as in CMI with "the three verbs" (going for the "Why fix it, if it aint broken" philosophy :D), and from what I have heard, the three playable ghost characters can NOT interact with the living, so they most work around their problems using your sharp wit!

I don't know about you, but that sounds pretty innovative and fun to me! :)

I still haven't finished AVS yet because I find the puzzles to be fairly nonsensical.

Are you kidding? I thought the puzzles were the best part of the whole game! (That.. and the excellent graphics, of course..)
I kinda held a fine line between too easy and too hard. And that is a big compliment for point'n click adventuregames nowadays, which are steering towards the infamous "click and watch" interface. And that's kinda sad.

In comparison to ToMI, the puzzles are a bit harder and illogical though! :)

I guess a bigger reason is I can't stand listening to Mona and Froderick talk. The voice casting is abysmal.

THAT.. I can agree on! :) The oneliners were kind of hit and miss. Have stronger hopes from Ghost Pirates though! :)

I would squeal like a little cheerleader girl. :P
How awesome would it be it turns out that Vooju Island exists in the same waters as Monkey Island?

That would be something similar to the underrated Discworld Noir, which is kind of a spinoff of the 2 first Discworld games; It contains different characters and a much darker noir mood while it plays out in the same universe! :)

Ain't gonna happen (officially) though. Lucasarts/Telltale would ruin Autumn Moon to the ground if MI gets mentioned in the game! :P

Great, Autumn Moon went from ripping off Sam and Max and Young Frankenstein to ripping off Monkey Island.

The graphics looked great, but the trailer didn't give me much reason to care about the game otherwise.

Have to admit, the trailer did nothing for me. Felt really unprofessional (especially using the Curlz font), and the iffy editing put me off.

Tiller's background art looked nice as usual though.

Nice graphics. Needs to play me a demo before I'll be impressed, though. Also a little too much swearing for my taste.

Why is it everybody links videos so they are in HD no matter what? Some peoples computers cant run that stuff!!!
  • edited August 2009
The HD toggle button is readily available. I can't watch HD videos either.

I have a bad feeling about this. The trailer is pretty unproffesional, if you catch my drift. It's just random stuff cut from here and there that doesn't really show much of the story, characters and gameplay. The art is pretty, but art isn't what I play games for. Oh, and the text is stupid, the font makes no sence... Where is the real trailer? The one that makes my jaw drop... :(

I think Mona is meant to be somehow annoying -- a soul who's been used to having things her way, a diva in the making. But sure, some of the repartees in the game are horrid.

Rip off is too strong a term; after all Bill Tiller was on the CMI team. Back in the days when the idea of Voojo came about, no one would realistically think that the MI franchise could ever be resurrected, LucasArt's "marketplace reality" and all. A surreal, MI-like adventure game featuring pirates sounded like a welcome substitute, the next best thing when you've given up hope on the best.

Considering that the initial idea for this game was conceived as a next Monkey Island game when Tiller was at LucasArts, "rip-off" really is the wrong word. "Spiritual sequel" would be apt.
