Two minor, new interviews with Job about future TTG info during Gamescom

“The innovation comes with the storytelling techniques, the writing, characterisation, and role playing, but that isn’t to say the format isn’t going to evolve in the next 18 months. Beginning with Batman: The Enemy Within we’ve pushed our engine and performance to new levels, which we are proud of. It’s a bit difficult to say without showing you, but what a Telltale game looks like in the next 18 months will look different to a Telltale game from the last 5 years.”

This second link is a video interview, but it has some interesting hints (such as Telltale potentially dabbling in Seasons with fewer/longer length episodes)

18 months is... awful specific?
That's because he's referring to TWD S4 and Wolf coming out sometime in the next 18 months.
I believe he means the rest of 2017 and the entirety of 2018, more or less rounding to 18 months (a year and a half).
It kinda goes some months into 2019, though. Could they already have a projection for the time span where TWD/unannounced project/Wolf's episodes will be released (and therefore when they'll end)?
On the video interview:
"(Talking about Thrones) We have committed to doing more. It is not on the docket right now. Clearly we've announced our line-up for the next 18 months or so..."
It seems they have 18 months as a set projection to release all their current WIP projects.
It could be that too, but I'm still gonna wager that he's just saying "18 months" as an approximation for the next year and a half.
I don't know. He used it on two occasions...
In the audio podcast version of the interview from the first link, Job hints at potential remasters of Telltale games. The interviewer asked about that older BttF remaster, and Job goes on to elaborate that other Telltale games could get remasters too, going on to use an example of wondering how Walking Dead Season 1 would look with the new tools and engine that Telltale has currently.
For all that is holy they better remaster Sam & Max Seasons 1-3 if they truly give a shit about the series.
If they remaster their TTG games, I hope they add in some fixes and perhaps even some more consequences for choices - perhaps even a journal as a bonus feature since every other game has something extra.
I wonder how big of a change this will be. I'm thinking that it will still be a point and click gameplay that we're used to but with the player given more control over movement and situations. It won't be wholly different but big enough to differentiate itself from past mechanics.
Higher-poly models and higher quality textures is all TWDS1 needs. I don't think I'll enjoy it as much with an art style like that of ANF, but I'm open to how they're gonna remaster [TWDS1] and some of their older titles.
Season 1 of Walking Dead with high-poly models and high quality textures?
I'm beginning to think they don't.
"Something that's not based on any franchise... we will be getting to that. Something that we deeply desire to tackle and are working on... When it is exactly and when you will be playing it, can't talk about it right now."
YES! Concrete proof that the Super Show is still alive!!
Interesting how in both interviews, he mentions 18 months in terms of change. Maybe in 2019 we'll see Telltale finally announce and release their Super Show? The content that would be in a "separate format" than their usual series... something that would also run alongside it? Please?
I like that Job was talking about the possible change of number of episodes, length of episodes, etc.
That's something that I feel Telltale should have changed earlier. Seeing them go for 6 episodes in Thrones was cool, as they knew they could or should stretch out their story for that long.. seeing them also jump into Michonne with a 3-episode series was cool as well.
So I hope we see some interesting Telltale seasons in the near future.. either with long episodes and shorter season length, or maybe even shorter episodes, but in a longer season length (shorter episode wait times.. more than 5Eps). Telltale branching out of that format they've established is good, because I feel like they limit themselves sometimes when saying "a 5-episode season" since, depending on the depth of the story, and maybe the franchise.. some things dont need to be exactly and X amount of time. It can be longer or shorter if need be.
Honestly I think the Super Show itself has been cancelled (it's been a while since the announcement and we've barely gotten anything about it). But the idea they had behind it is still alive and they're basing whatever is announced in the future on that.
Yeah, I was fearful of that. The concept that they were talking about sounded cool (interactive choice gameplay that affects scripted video content.. Can be played vice-versa.. Different way of release, "bigger" series..)
While most of that may be scrapped, I do hope that their original IP in the future retains some of that bigger series claims.
Given that it's Telltale's original product built from scratch, I expect the best of the best. The culmination of everything they've done to make their own world, characters, rules, and story.
Or, you know. Long episodes and normal season, like before. If it isn't supposed to be a mini-series, and they can't fit in even 5 episode with at least 1h30m content, then maybe they should make it a miniseries with 3 2 hour episodes instead of 5 1h10m episodes. That's just my opinion. I respect your opinion.
As long as they dont turn s4 into a freaking mini series, idc what they do with their future games.
Honestly Super Show always sounded a bit stupid in concept...didn't Quantum Break try that? Here is an idea...try a new formula like a new IP with long episodes and interesting combat and story.
Ehh... I'm one of the few who actually liked Quantum Break. The Gameplay/TV Show mix was interesting.
But whatever Telltale's plans are for their original IP, I just hope they put their hearts and souls into it. Give us something we haven't seen them do before.
Telltale tip:
If they stop talking about something(after announcing it), it's dead.
Yeah, especially if they charge the same amount of money for each episode.
