What brought you to Telltale?

I am pretty sure I am a master at starting weird discussions but I am curious...What led everyone to Telltale? Were you here from the old days? Or did a recent blockbuster bring you to Telltale? I am eager to know :) I formed an interest in Telltale Games after Walking Dead Season One. I am happy I did as I got to view new exciting games from possibly my favourite developers of all time. Anyways feel free to comment what brought you here I would be happy to read everyones stories :) have a nice day.

  • Jurassic Park: The Game is the very first Telltale game I've ever heard. I watched that and Back to the Future on youtube but never played them and The Walking Dead Season 1 is obviously the first Telltale game I've ever played.

  • Twd season 1

  • Poker Night

Batman. I've been reading comics for over 30 years prior, so it came natural that I'd be interested.

  • The Monkey Island series was one of the biggest pillars of my childhood, so I got here through that.

  • We've all been there, fellas

  • Here? Sam & Max Season 2. Created an account for Season 3. Re-created an account for Back To The Future.

  • The walking dead S1 was my 1st telltale game but I didn't become a fan till game of thrones

  • Minecraft story mode.

  • My brother told me about TWD:S1 being free on AppStore so I tried it and loved it, then I started searching for more games from this company and now here I am 4 years later.

  • Well I was on my Xbox 360 a couple years back and noticed TWD episode 1 was free. At that time I was at like season 3 of the show but stopped watching it because it got boring but I was like it’s a free game so why not I became hooked bought the remaining episodes including all of season 2 (episode 5 wasn’t out at the time in case your curious). I then found who the developer was because I wanted to know about plans for a season 3 then I instantly found the wolf among us episode 1 was free played all 5 eps and then thought they probably have a lot of good games. I then made an account on the wait for the walking dead season 3 but spent more time in the minecraft story mode for the wait and then when that finished after a year I went to Batman. Yeah I probably included too much detail instead of just saying the name of the game.

I actually saw JackSepticEye play TWD: S2, and I started watching other videos he made from Telltale Games (like TWAU: S1). Then I watched PewDiePie play TWD: S1, and I just started to love the company and follow their other games. :P

  • Back to the Future was the first Telltale game I played. I had only played the first episode and did enjoy it but it just kind of became something that got pushed further and further in backlog. It wasn't until I started to hear all of the buzz around The Walking Dead that Telltale got on my radar again. I bought the disc copy of season one on 360 and fell in love with it. It was the first time I genuinely cried during a video game. I had emotional moments in games before and got a little choked up but the ending to season one made me break down and I loved it.

Afterwards was when I started to look back seeing what other games I could find from them. This was when I finally restarted and finished BttF, which I also enjoyed as I do kind of view it as almost a fourth movie in the series. I've bought and played every episodic game that Telltale has released since season one of WD and have enjoyed them to varying degrees. As far as before WD, other than BttF, I've played Jurassic Park, Tales of Monkey Island and have only recently started with Sam & Max

  • A friend of mine had TWD season one on his PS. After that I played TWAU, and just kept playing games that interested me. So, everything except MCSM. I love the new episode of Batman, but was disappointed that they wouldn't announce when season two of GOT was going to come out.

  • I played the first episode of Back To The Future with my younger on IOS, we both liked it but neither of us had money at the time so we couldn't continue. A bit more than two years later I caught TWD S1 before the release of its final episode really liked it but moved on. Later I saw TWAU and really liked it and eventually decided to join the forums sometime in November where I lurked for a few months before creating an account. Made my first comment, then waited another month before I became active.

  • I was totally immersed in the first season of The Walking Dead and was my all-time favorite game for a while. Been a fan ever since.

Sam and Max Season One. I'm still waiting them to do more with those characters.

  • tales from the borderlands i signed up to get the free stuff when i was on ps3 and i grew to like the community

  • Uberhaxornova's Walking Dead S1 play-through, I believe. After watching the first episode I ended up buying it on my Xbox 360. I played the first two episodes ranging from when it first released into 2013. It was 2014 I really got into Telltale though since I bought Walking Dead S1, S2 and TWAU all in the span of a few days on Steam. I'll always remember that it was through The Walking Dead that I was introduced to Telltale, but it was The Wolf Among Us that really cemented my continued interest in them.

  • The free episode of Sam and Max Season 1 perked my interest in Telltale around 2008, but I didn't really heavily follow Telltale until 2010. I liked the idea of episodic story games that resembled TV, and seeing Telltale ascend from a niche studio to a large studio that gets to work on games about Batman, Marvel (Guardians of the Galaxy), Walking Dead, HBO's most popular show (Game of Thrones), and big gaming franchises like Minecraft and Borderlands is pretty cool.

Back in their earlier days, it was big news when Telltale got to make games about Wallace and Gromit or Back to the Future, but that's smaller compared to the Telltale of today.

  • Sam & Max Season One. Everyone was mad at LucasArts for canceling the Sam & Max game they had in development at the time. As soon as their exclusive contract with Steve Purcell expired, Steve awarded the right to make a "Season" to Telltale, and it became their first "big" game. (Where "big" is larger than the audience for Bone or Telltale Texas Hold'Em, but not as big as TWD.)

  • Pewdiepie and Yogscast Hannah's playthroughs of The Walking Dead.

I got in on the TTG fan scene wayyyy on the ground floor - I heard that the dev team behind (the tragically-cancelled) adventure game "Sam & Max: Freelance Police" had formed a new company and was doing an episode game based on Jeff Smith's comic series "Bone"... I think that was back in 2005? Little did I know, 8 years later (and playing almost everything Telltale made in that time*) I would join the company in the wake of their exploding post-TWD.

*Ironically, TWD was the only TTG game I HADN'T played when I interviewed. I was really hoping I could work on a new Puzzle Agent, hahaha.

  • Were you a Sam & Max fan?

Looks like you've got to work on some diverse properties. That's always great.

  • Yeah it's a much different style of game. After the Walking Dead, Telltale's fandom was completely reshaped.

  • As generic of an answer this might sound... Walking Dead Season 1.
It took me a while to finish it but it was certainly a great place to start.

  • I purchased TWD season 1 in the Steam winter sale in 2012, after playing it i really wanted to find out if there was going to be a season 2 so i did a google search, found the Telltale forum and have stuck around ever since.

  • I watched TetraNinja play Episodes 1 and 2 of the first season of Walking Dead as they came out, really liked it and bought it for myself. Made an account on here for Wolf Among Us but never did anything with it until 2015 which is when I started commenting on threads.

  • Your just like me in that regard save for Back to the Future.

It was because of a lack of good games for the PS Vita. (Or at least games I found interesting... I'm not really a big fan of JRPGs)
Now, it took another game before I actually got a Telltale Game.

I wanted a new game to play on my PS Vita so I decided to give in and try (gulp) Minecraft on it.
I, along with my siblings, enjoyed Minecraft, and my brother was then telling me about this game he had watched on YouTube called "Minecraft: Story Mode."
He tried his best to explain it to me, but it sounded like the most stupid game I'd ever heard of.
We downloaded the demo for it and loved it.
One thing lead to another, we started looking at other Telltale Games.
At the time, The Walking S 1 E 1 was not free on the PlayStation store, but there was a demo of S2 E1, so I downloaded it and played it and the rest is history.

And here I am... hanging around... and doing... absolutely... nothing.
I still wonder what I'm doing here.

(By the way, I was gonna write a full story about it on the "Did you grow up playing games?" thread but... I couldn't be bothered... It's not an exciting story and it would be a waste of time.)

  • Friend of mine bought the first episode of season 1, loved it. When I told him I'd check it out sometime he sent me a prepaid code and told me to buy it. Ended up buying episode 2 as soon as I finished playing the first, then had to come up with an excuse for being late to work that night. Good times.

  • Walking Dead was still interesting enough that I was watching it and I was curious about the game.

  • WhileJust while asking the best android games,I came to know about walking dead s1 and then started playing playing it and felt amazing!!

My boyfriend had been talking about TWD game because he knew I like the TV series, it was at the time when full season 2 came out 2014, so he got it for me without telling. He thought that the previous season didn't matter, I didn't know anything about it so I just started playing, it was such a nice thing he did for me. Of course I was a bit confused, but I liked the game, and Clem! Sometime after that I played season 1 (and 400 days) so it made more sense then. But it wasn't until last year that I went crazy on Steam sale and bought like all the rest of Telltale games.

    No regrets.

I was interning at AOL for their games website when a coworker told me about the first season of The Walking Dead. This was in between the fourth and fifth episode releases, so I went and binged the first four episodes back at my dorm that night. Been a fan ever since... and now I work here! Crazy.
