I only knew about a good half of these(Heavy Rain, Vooju, Vampyre 2, Grey Matter and Machinarium), but all of them look good. Well, I'm not sure about Heavy Rain yet, but it has my interest.

I'm still hoping Once Upon a Time in Japan comes out someday.

Pretty much all of my favourite adventure games have a lot of colour in, look at Broken sword 1 and 2, the Telltale games, among most of the best ones (full throttle and Beneath a Steel Sky are counter examples but with their settings an abundance of colour wouldn't work).

"Runaway 3: Twist of Fate" is one that I'm looking forward to! I've played the previous two and now I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the third to find out what happens!

I'd still like to see "Full Throttle: Hell on Wheels" released... : (

Bad list. Grey Matter and A Whispered World deserved to be at the top of the list in sections 1 and 2.

Another adventure game I'm looking forward to is Until I'm Gone, by Faraway Studios, not to mention Space Quest 2 - Vohaul's Revenge VGA.

A Vampyre Story doesn't even deserve to be on the list. (Personal opinion)

It's a list of games that the OP is looking forward to. How can it be bad?

I thought it was more that the topic creator looked through upcoming games and picked and choosed a top ten. I wasn't sure if AVS 2, (or GPOVI) were on there due to lack of upcoming titles. I thought this topic was all about what he picked and discussing those titles. I didn't realize my mistake until I read your post.

Oh thats what you meant, cause I thought you were having a stroke or something! :p
You're right that these games probably aint so rich on the color department, but you know what? I like it kinda dark and moody! :D
Ever played Black Mirror 1? I know it received bad reviews cause of corky voice acting and repetitive puzzles, but I loved the twisted mood and how the story sucked me in from start to finish! Try it out.

About the color, you really need to see Machinarium in action. And the OP didn't really pick the best picture to grab you and pull you in.

I suggest that ANY adventure fan at least give Machinarium's trailer a look. It may not be "bright" in terms of color pallet, but the overall "feel" is just so fun and "warm". Give it a looksee, it's one of the few times I've watched a trailer and been wowed by graphics, but it also has a lot of heart.

I guess I figured everyone knew the premise of Machinarium, so I picked a background drawing showing a EPIC futuristic castle, which made me feel like there's more depth to it than just a scrap robot walking around solving puzzles.
    Anyways.. how about this one?

I too loved the trailer btw.. :D
    Looks uniqe!

Kidding aside.. No one else have a top 10 list they want to share?

    :(

Btw.. After pondering about it, I think Germany is mostly responsible for keeping the adventuregame genre alive over the last 7 years.. (DTP-entertainment, Daedalic entertainment, etc)
We have many examples of american gamedesigners/authors using German development studios for releasing games like Mata Haris and the upcoming Gray Matter.

The brotherpart of my list comes from German developers.

    So.. thank you Germany! ;)

Those ones sure look exciting, OCKi. Out of that list, I'd only heard of Vampyre Story 2 (haven't played the first, myself, but I'd heard of the series at least). Might have to do a bit of research on some of those!

I almost ashamed to admit it, but I'm quite looking forward to Simon the Sorcerer 5. Even though I don't think they will ever get the series as good as it was back when the first 2 Simon games were made, STS5 seems promising, at least compared to the 3rd and 4th games. I'm not going to expect it to be as good as the first 2. But I think it could be quite good.

The adventure games I'm looking forward to the most for now is the rest of Tales of Monkey Island, I suppose! :D

I'm in total agreement. I'm playing a few German games that were unfortunately never translated. Dictionary in hand, but I'm learning more German all the time. I'm making good progress and am able to laugh at the jokes, you learn things that they don't teach you in books. And I can navigate amazon.de fairly well now. There are adventure games there I'd never heard of, but they deserved international release.

Here is another good lookin game coming from Daedalic entertainment.

Its called Deponia, which is set on a junk world.
Adventuregamers had a minipreview on it:

The 3rd is a great game. Technically awfull but long, funny and challenging. Way,way, way, much better than 4. I just hope some other company rescue Simon from those evil people.

This week, the highly anticipated point'n click adventuregame, Drawn: The Painted Tower, is released on PC.

    _0078_Layer%2018.jpg

Yes, you know what they say; "It aint a good adventure game without a jungle setting!" :P

    10917.jpg

Basically I don't care much for first-person adventuregames, but this game looks it will justify my taste for stylishnes and moodyness.
    ...
Oh, what the bleep! I think I will give it a try! :)

    10915.jpg

The last picture reminds me of the horror adventuregame The Dark Eye, which is the only first-person AG I have ever completed from start to finish. If this game can hold a candle to The Dark Eye, I will be ecstatic.

"Drawn: The painted Tower" can be bought on Big Fish Games when it is released this friday! (Hopefully downloadable) :)
It also has an official fan site.

Go check out these trailers and tell me what you think. :)

The Lost Horizon trailer reminds me a cross between Fate of Atlantis, Broken Sword and the new Uncharted 2!

These all look gorgeous. I do like saturated color palettes, but I think how the colors work together and the style of the overall presentation are more important. I do want to wipe the boogers off of that stone idol's head, though.

Unfortunately, only Heavy Rain is a PlayStation 3 title.

Anyone played any of the runaway games, heard they were quite good but never played them. Kinda look a little like broken sword, which i love, so may check it out.

    Worth it?

Would anyone be interested in the upcoming: Epic Mickey?

I have played the first one! Liked it, but kida dislked the main character's english voice-over, which kinda ruined the experience for me a bit.
The story and puzzle design are quite excellent though! :)

Would anyone be interested in the upcoming: Epic Mickey?

I have seen the concept art and it looks absolutely awesome! Reminds me of Kingdom Hearts! Does anyone know if this is an adventuregame or a platformer?

The website only says "Coming 2010", but adventuregamers.com had an excellent preview of it!
    Check it out!

I acquired Drawn almost as soon as it came out and I think it's a great game, for what it's worth.

I second this, I bought it a few days ago now and I've had fun playing it when I've had time to :) For those of you who are pondering buying it, it's less then a TT episode and lasts much longer (at least it did for me) :)
