Secret door (ToMI ch.2)

As soon as you have sunk the ship to rescue Queen/King of the Merfolk, a door appeared in the ocean. There was no description when hovered over wih the mouse. Graphical mistake or intended?

a feature disguised as a bug or a bug disguised as a feature?

I would have guessed it is a bug but it is a door.

Both. Makes it only more awesome.

Ah, I remember I've discovered a great bug in a game once... it was in Quest for Glory main menu, and... well... it was the first discovered bug in the game... and it was... well... a bug... a funny bug, I might add... ah, good times.

Short answer, it's the door to the hovel of a poor mer-man, uhh, mer-wo... erm, mer-person, and you just sunk a ship on it. Jerk.

I've seen a door too. It looked like floating in mid-air, though. I've also seen cannonballs floating in mid-air, right above my deck and also somewhere above the ocean. And once, part of my railing extended into the infinity.

It's probably a bug, a glitch, it's probably Mcguilicuty's door to his cabin, or Guybrush's, from his old ship.

If you click on it as soon as it appears it takes you straight to episode 3.

To bad, the door has no hotspot for that.
But there is another way: if you take the shortcut in episode 1 so you don't use up the cheese, you can use it with the "no fishing"-sign, which will open the secret passage to Sam & Max' office. There you can saw off a finger of Jesse Jame's hand and feed it to LeChuck. He then, will tell you the secret of Monkey Island and if you manage to listen through all this to the very end while dodging all those phallic symbols at the same time, a secret passage opens straight to episode 3. You probably need disk 23 ready for this to work.;)

I think you also need to have MI5 installed on your computer for it to work.
